I think we are going to put an offer in on a house that we saw on Saturday morning. Will probably get instantly outbid by some loons. Will be interesting to see how many offers they get - they had at least 20 viewings booked in by the looks of the list the estate agent had.

Exciting! I know you won't want to tell us enough about it to identify it, but can you tell us anything about it? How big? How far from tube? Garden? What is it that you like about it?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

You could download a copy on the web until recently. Would recommend it to anyone with children. Might be better than a lecture or museum visit, but let them get through those first!

Might have to wait - my parents gave Isaac an Encyclopedia of dinosaurs and associated beasts for Christmas, and we're wending our jaw-cracking way through it. OH wisely decided to leave it as a Mummy-Isaac treat, so I get the pleasure of decoding long names, and learning about the difference between bird-hipped and lizard-hipped types.

I met a 4 year old recently who berated me for not knowing triceratops were vegetarian.

  • Isaac would probably be similarly disparaging.

When we met LIR for lunch in Bath, after he'd demolished his food and an ice-cream bribe, he politely said it was all very nice meeting her and so forth, but could we get on and see Roman stuff, please? Nuff chat!

When I was a kid I thought all these extinct reptiles were dinosaurs including plesiosaurs, ichthyosaurs and pterosaurs which turned out to be different.
Also the Dimetrodon wasn't a dinosaur.
Plus the Apatosuarus was still called brontosaurus.
How can stuff change so much?

Well that sums up what I think too. Plus dinosaurs weren't things that we studied in kids non fiction books, they were just characters in the Flintstones. That was no good either as I preferred the Jetsons.

Yep, there are names for those days, 'Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday'

Triceratops was big and ponderous looking so not really the type to be chasing after and catching animal protein (compare leopard and elephant).

Chewie I assume in the first day at estate agent school they are told to produce a viewing list with at least a dozen names on and make sure it is seen by the prospective buyer even if that is the only viewing they have done all week. I find annoying the letters saying they have a confirmed cash buyer for properties in your street which drop though the door regularly :(
    I think....
