michaels, between your 90 degree trampoline and my arc'd one, do you think we could salvage one between us?

Just heard another report on Heart Radio. Said that the residents have been complaining about subsidence for a while and that the site is rumoured to be the location of ancient lime kilns:eek:.
The chalk mines were really cool though. We used to clime down them - they were holes in the ground, but not straight down like shafts, more on an angle - pull out the wet chalk, form it into shapes that we could use for writing and then dry it before using it on a blackboard. I'm sure H&S would have a field day if the kids did that now mind. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Not sure which route you were looking at, but there has been a landslip on the Chiltern line (marylebone) so might be best to book a seat on a virgin (euston?) train.
I saw that on the National Rail site, and I've booked a Euston-Virgin ticket (at great expense). I need to go to Birmingham International, anyway, it's the station nearest the Immigration Tribunal. What happens if a trial is adjourned to your maternity leave?
It doesn't happen - when a case is adjourned, I either go with the clerk to the list office armed with my dates to avoid, or the list office fix it later in conjunction with my clerks.I'm sure it's a business expense anyway (goes off to but some shares in virgin trains...)
Not exactly - I get a larger fee, taking into account both the travel costs and the extra time to get there and back, rather than fee + costs....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

That's about an 8 minute walk from where we lived before we bought our present flat. I wonder which building it was? They all look pretty gigantically solid on Kingsway and High Holborn.HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »Yes.

There was an article in the paper today about a corporate lawyer working 3 days a week. She pays $40,000 net a year for childcare for her 3 kids. That's after the $15,000 rebate she gets from the Government. My missus works 2 days a week and had her working week cut recently from 4 days. That equates to a pay rise for the Generali household.
We pay £26k a year for our nanny, out of post-tax income, no rebates or anything. Which is a constant irritation for me (the fact that it's post-tax income, not the fact that we pay her properly!)....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I think in many cases there are limestone rocks being work away by water , and if its acidic they wear down faster. The soil above collapses.
Will watch Mystic Trev's video when I get a chance. There;s a historical example of a lake falling into a mine in Louisiana, and some hypnotic video on youtube of an apparent sinkhole causing a whirlpool in a lake in Latvia swallowing all the ice (but it's not really what it seems).
Blackheath Hill in London's the place that had subsidence from chalk mining I think

NDG mentioned it the other day.

Just been teaching about them, oddly enough. Won't be the last ones we'll see I'd imagine.
There's parts of London undermined literally by abandoned mines whose maps are now lost.
Wasn't someone discussing it on here a few days ago, or did I see it somehere else?
T'were me.

Sounds like good lateral thinking - last night seemed like the worst wind of the year here. It is annoying as last year we spent about 65 quid replacing the spring cover and net - had we spent 100 quid on a new one then between the old and new we would have enough bits to have a whole one. The poles are aluminium and over 3 inches think (although they are hollow tubes not solid!), I can't imagine how much force it must take to bend them over and also one of the legs has been ripped off from the frame....I think....0 -
30 mph should be fine - I cycle in that sort of wind (albeit slowly - no change there then!).
As you predicted, it was absolutely fine. I was just worried about things blowing about and hitting me, but it was all fine, thanks. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
