It's not loss of life in those cases as they were all going to be leaving anyway.0 -

If it floods the pump it floods the pump. There is really only so much one can panic. My feeling is while our feet our dry in the house and the animals are dry and fed we're doing ok..

What I have found fascinating, allbeit for only a short while, was that one of the news broadcasts had used one of those camera drones to follow along a flooded railway line and give good views of the extent of floods in a town. The film quality was no different to a regular TV camera
They'll be really useful in years to come in all inds of search/rescue and landscape monitoring functions.0 -

They're already being used for search/rescue. Some of them are even being fitted with infrared cameras. In Japan, they used drones with radiation sensors and infrared cameras in the nuclear power plant disaster.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

And for PNs property/other info searches for the NPT when she will launch her drone and have a buzz around/peer through the windows.I think....0 -
DH also forgot the date. Good news really, though I haven't let him know, as I am angling for something and he has been resisting.
Flowers now arrived.
He admitted to having forgotten this morning, so trying to make up for it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Brilliant! So glad I askedPlease stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

GDB it sounds upsetting and wearisome. Very hard for Mrs GDB.
What was you BiL's response? Helpful or not?
BIL has been quite supportive. He travelled down specially from Manchester last weekend, and we agreed at a meeting to give it 3 weeks and then reassess the situation. It's very stressful, because we really want to help her, but she does her best to resist our efforts. I'm afraid that by now I am mentally ticking off the days.
I think that all we have achieved through immense effort is to slow the rate of decline. I don't think it's fair to her to keep nagging her for so little benefit. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
There goes my barn roof! First sheet blown, second sheet flapping. I wonder if they'll all peel off like a pack of cards now.
Now one has gone I sort of hope so.
I wouldn't mind sorting out that barn. I kind of wouldn't mind delaying everything else to sort that else because then heat units could go up there and be less disruptive.0
