I think there are two issues... the unpopularity on the rail depot and the need for more housing in Herts. As this is one of the few places you could put more houses without going to the upper reaches of the county near Royston, it's a shame to put the depot there when Herts doesn't need or want it. Which from memory is the same argument as that for the big chimney in Hatfield.

Especially as that chimney should have been a state of the art teaching hospital :(

I also think in Herts it makes most sense to put houses close to the railway statons (or just lines and build new stations) and major roads.
    I think....

My parents never sent each other cards, but then it's mum's birthday yesterday so wouldn't enter their heads.

I rarely got cards. I did when I was a teenager with a bf, but after that no.

When I was 14 there was a knock at the door, mum answered, it was a florist - for me. I was still in bed, it was a bouquet. My first/only bouquet of flowers.

Read the card and they were from "the fat boy at the swimming club". So not interested.

yes it is about 3 inches deep, never really know what to do with a deep picture rail.

That's where, years ago, people'd pile up assorted tat: random old picture plates, ornaments etc. You could string some dried hops across it if you felt inclined... I'd just leave it... I bet spiders live there :)

I love that colour blue. It is my favourite. If it wasn't for the fact that it could be cold my whole house would be painted in it. Have compromised and painted the spare room that colour instead.

This is the blue painting that I have in my blue bedroom, it is very relaxing, sadly I couldn't afford the original:

It wouldn't be hard to sit on a beach and take a shot like that - actually, a better one; just a little local knowledge of the sand colour/type and water colour ... and bob's your uncle. I could easily find 100 locations in Cornwall to take a shot like that....

    I'd prefer a photo to a painting.

DD's ex's family home (how is that for a tenuous connection) was an ancient farmhouse (mentioned in domesday) with huge ingle nook fireplace, thick walls and tiny windows in parts....

My garden is a grass patch, about 15' long; in one corner there is a square of paving slabs, big enough for a folding chair at 3 slabs x 3 slabs.
I noticed it had a pool of water - no worried... checked the "under fence gap" between mine/neighbours and saw a pool of water.... last/only time I saw that there was a big flood creeping up at us.
Looked from kitchen window (overlooks neighbour's garden) and there's no evidence of the big flood in theirs.
So, looks like it's just me flooding a bit then :(
My floor level is a full 18" above grass level (not going to go out and measure it exactly as it's raining)... but about 6 courses of bricks.
And now there's a helicopter overhead...... no guesses for what he's looking for!

I like it because it is a painting. Technically it is very difficult to paint photo realistically.

Ironically I have quite a few photos too, but not like that. I have a thing about bridges. I think as structures they are often quite beautiful (save for the pig ugly one near the M3 junction on the M25). But I like them photographed in in a unusual way. I have one of the Mackinac Suspension bridge in Michigan that is black and white and was photographed through a car windscreen with the wipers off so you see it in abstract through the water blobs. It is stunning and imo absolutely beautiful, but I know it makes others scratch their heads.

In short I like photos that look like paintings and paintings that look like photos. I need help.
