My £2 coin jar coughed recently, & I indulged in a book buying spree. I have a big list of books I want. When the jar coughs, I allow myself to buy every book that I can get off the list in good condition or better that is less than £3 (not including p&p).

I've a massive pile of books. I've read a few. I'm looking forward to a good read-a-thon over christmas.

There is to a single second hand one I have seen less than 24. And that has highlighting a in it. Now, I am not a fan of hard backs or fly leafs, as you know, so that 24 one is probably for me, but some of the second hand ones are in the multiple hundreds too. Otoh, maybe its a worth while first edition buy.........

What's your standard of living value? This map looks handy.

By clicking on it, my preferred area has 2-3 different colours and values. The area I am currently looking at has a Quality of Life value of 29... but I can see that two areas 2-3 streets away have a much higher value.

    1] Click here: http://illustreets.co.uk/explore-england/
2] Find your area/street. Zoom in and click on it.

It also gives "Total Crime Rate", which says 138

"It has a low standard of living rank, due to its deprivation levels as recorded in the Indices of Deprivation 2010, and a very high crime rate, although with the latter you should also consider whether the location is a city centre or a touristic area, in which case high crime figures are to be expected."

OH has marked himself as off for 2 weeks on the work calendar, in practice that means he will still check his emails every day and on at least 3 days he will go into the office (20 miles each way) just to check on things/ clear some paperwork/ give some support to anyone working over this time.

James is coming home on Suday! He's not home for long though as he wants to be back in Wycombe for New Years eve, apparently our night life here is boring compared to there.

We are leaving at the ungodly hour of 7am on Sunday to pick him up, no long stop, he will literally be jumping into the car when we arrive and then straight back home...well that is the plan, not sure my bladder will play ball much to lovverrrs dismay!

Can't he take the train? Or do the drums need to come home too?

Yeah, DH will check emails am and pm. Monitoring his things. He doesn't want yo go in,its more than twenty miles! And we've not had this two weeks. We never get a holiday -holiday, first pressure of work, now my health compounding....

Because DH didn't go to ny for Christmas I'm suggesting he pop over near his birthday.

His dad was going to visit but has cancelled. I think that has upset DH a bit tbh.

We have standard of living 80, total crime rate 122! Mind you Central Richmond has a total crime rate of 670... I'm going to postulate that it is mostly shoplifting as there is a big supermarket at the end of our road and roads either side and opposite have a crime rate of 53.

The map confirms that the only part of London anyone should go anywhere near is SW!

Otoh, you have also explained that in your industry there is a guaranteed break.....so a sort of mental health catch up for employees (and night mare for employers I guess). I have had a pita with missed date deliveries this last week. Life goes on, its only stuff. When it was stuff for the build was more of an issue tbh.

We automatically factor in breaks, daily and weekly rests though France at 08.00 on Monday is a nightmare, necessitating leaving the Uk on a Saturday and the driver resting Chez Motorway Services for the weekend.

If I carefully zoom in on the coloured map, it breaks down even further - and I can see differences by hovering the mouse over.

I knew there were maps like this before.... but I've not been able to find one this year, so assumed there were none left. Glad I've found this one again.

I do not check emails whilst on annual leave. They don't pay me for that.

Definition of holiday, an uninterrupted rest break from employment.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
