It's Friday, dark and miserable and I'm knackered. I really want to pull a sickie but I know if i do I will go down with the flu bug that everyone else seems to have and I feel I have been close to all week and then I will not want to have time off when I really am sick to make up (does that make sense?)
I dislike the idea of pulling a sickie.
Checked my diary, did an hour of phone calls and have taken a day of holiday at short notice. Not always possible but today it was , and feels miles better to me than lying.0 -

Not everyone is in that position. Employers not being that flexible or willing to be flexible.
I think sometimes sickies are probably 'mental health days'. The less in control one is of ones work schedule the more those mental health days probably come into play tbh.
I think that when one considers the huge morale boost that the extra bank holidays for things like jubilee gave to people one appreciates how important time, rather than extra money, can be.
DH is hoping to have two uninterrupted weeks off over Christmas. This will be almost unprecedented and was only given a tentative go ahead this week. I think he'll sleep through three of them, because all that time seems incredible. :j:j:j0 -
Red wine? No point holding back at this stage....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I've decided to cancel the viewing on Tuesday .... - I am now 100% convinced it IS a cluster house, not a semi.0

It's a great piece of advertising but it also makes me think that Thanksgiving is the better holiday: a meal with family, no gifts given nor expected. No disappointment because you only got the iPhone 8x rather than the 9y.0 -
James is coming home on Suday! He's not home for long though as he wants to be back in Wycombe for New Years eve, apparently our night life here is boring compared to there.
We are leaving at the ungodly hour of 7am on Sunday to pick him up, no long stop, he will literally be jumping into the car when we arrive and then straight back home...well that is the plan, not sure my bladder will play ball much to lovverrrs dismay! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Really pleased for you.
I hope its not once in a lifetime, though it feels like it!
We 've talked about what we will do. We cannot go away because of the animals, but our plan involves lots of sleeping (him) lots of other staying in bed (both of us) and lots of just being together all the time:o
We're going to get the timetable for the swimming pool and try taking the dogs to places we haven't been yet (I stick to the same two places when we go out m which is boring for them, but they are relatively level which is easy for me alone)
We feel some guilt because we have not put the painting of downstairs lobby or upstairs corridor on the list:o.
We'll see, but I think he should take at least half as actual do nothing practical time. That's unheard of totally...a week of nothing practical.0
