Radio six has grown on me. I have heard some really fantastic new to me music. Its made me excited about music radio in a way I cannot remember being in a very long time, but because I'm not a regular listener I haven't worked out when the exciting times for me to listen are.
Quick one - at work - Gilles Peterson (ex Radio 1, now 6Music 3-6pm on a Sat), and Jarvis Cocker (4-6pm I think on Sunday though it's been John Cooper Clark the past couple of weeks) are well worth a listen. Craig Charles is pretty good too (on straight after Gilles).
The other person I make an effort to listen to is Annie Mac (radio 1) - Friday 7-9pm is more lively, then Sunday 10pm-midnight is more relaxing.
Think I'm going to be hearing a lot of radio this weekend as I've just been asked to prepare some stuff for a meeting on Monday instead of in 2 weeks time0 -
I re-bought all my old 10cc albums over Christmas.
I am still struggling to get hold of Consequences by Godley and Creme.
It was a triple "concept" album they released after they left the group in 197? and was never released as a CD.
I might have to bite the bullet and buy a 2nd hand one off ebay or amazon, but it's hard to find one at a sensible price.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

You get the dance anthems bit with Greg James first, and then Aaaaaaannnnniiiiieeeeeeeeee
I was driving home one Friday evening last year, and it was so good I deliberately missed junction 4A on the M4 and carried on into London and back out on the
A316 just to take longer to get home.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

I think the secret is to look twice a day .... until you've got it. Oftentimes we want things, but don't search more than every few months, once.0 -

If you do a "saved search" you get an email when anything matching the keywords is listed. Very useful.0 -
Ditto! Really strong lyrics can impress me, but it's usually the music that drives my choice. Metallica has never featured in any of my lists though:oThere are hundreds/thousands of great songs with rubbish/meaningless lyrics
But I cannot think of a single song which I like that has great/meaningful lyrics but rubbish music.
Lyrics is a repeat 'discussion' in our house. Not surprisingly given our respective main intruments and musical backgrounds.
My argument is that many non musicians link to a key lyric line and relate to a tune that way, and so its hard for them to think of the music without that lyric line even if played instrumentality.
I think all profession jazz musicians should really know the lyrics to the tunes they are playing because I think, regardless of their interpretations, they should consider (at most sort of gigs) how their audiences will be hearing things. There is a time to be an artist and a time to be a performing monkey, most gigs......you are a performing monkey0 -

Er, er... if it's something with great lyrics and rubbish music, why not just ditch the music and have a great poem?lostinrates wrote: »There is a time to be an artist and a time to be a performing monkey, most gigs......you are a performing monkey
I kind of disagree with the implication... performing music to your best ability, bringing happiness to others, IS great art.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Lemon jelly, my pm box is full, but I want to say thank you for the pm and link, I will certainly check that out later, probably wait and do it with DH..
Do you think my body heard my plans? I think so....I was disgustingly sick this afternoon while I was out....(not in public, in a loo!) and my right ankle and knee are still complaining about dancing for a measles ten minutes.
I've tolD them that we are dancing every night for the next month so unless my left leg is to get more disproportionate than it is they better get with the game.0 -

I think it depends on what sort of sleeper/waked you are maybe? I think I'd wake up easily and with excitement.
Wouldn't work for me. Once I'm asleep, I hate being woken up, so I'd glare and mutter obscenities instead of being welcoming.I think that beats just about anywhere else in terms of work bar polar ice caps.
Can't imagine there's much demand for English QCs at the ice caps, but you never know... He's been to Rwanda twice before, though. Says it's interesting.OK - another one for the poll 'Never realised LemonJelly was a band until it was mentioned a couple of pages back'
And another vote here, I thought it was a reference to the "with ice-cream" type of jelly, too.lemonjelly wrote: »Does anyone actually read my posts?...:rotfl:
Yer wha'?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
