When you get your new place, you can put them up to celebrate moving in, and then keep them up to celebrate having the freedom of not being a tenant any more.
DD has asked if we can keep the ones I put winding up the bannisters. She also wants some in her room on a permanent basis. I don't see why not. DS already has some, although I don't know that he turns them on very often. They've been there ages.
Or you could put them up somewhere in your current place, not as a celebration of where you are but as a "light at the end of the tunnel" symbol of your hopes for the future.
My lovely friend had lights winding up the bannister and a big basket of lights in the sitting room just as part of every day decor.
On Saturday we had a party to celebrate DDs birthday and strung coloured lights up outside to look cheery on a very dark and miserable night.0 -

With the slightly larger circumference of winter tyres, your speedo was probably over-reading your actual speed.....so you no doubt were aquaplaning at an even lower speed than 65 ish.

I have no idea what M3 money supply is, for example, and haven't got the motivation to learn ATM, so am unable to benefit from some excellent discussions by knowledgeable people like, for example, Generali (who's clever about that sort of thing).
Goes south-west from about Richmond, doesn't it?
Richmond is where I'm going to this morning - two cases at the Magistrates' Court there, but they are immigration ones, Feltham tribunal is borrowing a courtroom there this morning, I think....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
For those who care, M3 = M2+deposits at institutions that are not banks.
M2 = M1+ long term deposits (aka 'time deposits')
M1 = M0 + instant access savings accounts plus current account balances
M0 = Notes and coins in circulation.
Of course the real question should be what's M4?
M4 = M3 plus all other deposits (e.g. certificates of deposit)
Rather unhelpfully, different countries use different definitions of the various Ms. The above is as close as you can get to a standard definition and is pretty much the definition in the UK.
Sorry there was no Xmas Quiz this time around BTW. I simply didn't have time this year despite being gifted one of the questions!
The weather looks shocking over there. Best wishes to you all. It's a bit grey today in Sydney but nothing like what you guys have. No ocean swimming please!
Actually I saw the lifeguards go in the ocean on Saturday, not sure if I said. V. exciting as I've not seen them at work before. The woman that was saved wasn't even that far out (100ft, perhaps not even that) but was clearly exhausted and only just able to keep her head out of the water. I thought perhaps she'd been stung by a jellyfish or something but I think she was just tired.0 -
I stray onto the house buying and mortgage boards. Also the relationship one, but that has some really aggressive posters, either life has dealt them some hard blows or they have really distorted sense of balance. Also there is a thread on grabbit which could be like this one, but has too many posters, takes ages to catch up with, too many (((hugs)))), too many pictures of cats and dogs and smilies.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I saw Book of Mormon at the theatre last night. Slightly disappointed, mainly due to have high expectations from the rave reviews.

I am not sure winter tyres always have better wet weather performance than normal tyres? In the States they call them I's and the even one's go East-West and the odd one's North-South
What would they do with one that ran NE/SW etc. Also you get tose towns that have grown together and at some point you change from 180 North to 160 South on the cross streets....
I still post on this board, even starting threads and there is some interesting stuff (to me) amongst the point scoring. I looked in on the mortgage board when I was looking to remortgage but don't really anymore, I occasionally glance at the credit card and bank account boards to see if there are any offers I could be taking advantage of. I should find the time for matched betting but don't. I visit the techie and diy boards mostly when I have questions (I should post my music transcribing app question there). I use hotukdeals rather than grabbit and in the winter glance in on netweather. Facebook and two different email accounts also get a lot of my screen time.I think....0 -
There's a French band who've reworked many modern pop songs Bosa Nova style
Anyhoo that's the Xmas decorations out of the way and I'm back at work with a bang.:p
Seen them live a few times.
IMO they peaked on their first album.
I believe that they're so named as their name translates into english as "new wave", but translates into portuguese as "bossa nova", hence them covering new wave songs in a bossa nova style? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
