I have 9 cousins (plus one who died). My mother had 2 siblings who each had 5 children (as did she); my father was an only child. Of those 9 surviving children, 4 have 4 children each, 2 have 3 each, 2 have 2 each (but one still of breeding age) and one has none.
From my siblings, I have 2 children, brother 1 has 14 children (plus one who died), bros 2 and 3 have 2 children each and bro 4 has none.
DH has one sibling who has 2 children. I thus have 20 nephews and nieces.
I finished the present buying over a week ago.0 -

I'm off in a few mins and just popped in to wave goodbye.
Don't be mean to Nikki. I applaud her MSE-ness over the TV. We had one older than that until last year. Combined with a set-top box they work perfectly. I remember being at the dump a few years ago and watching someone dumping a TV set that was far better than the one we had at home. We now have a TFT, but it still just shows the same channels, so apart from saving electricity it was a complete waste of money. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Merry Christmas GDB, have a lovely break and safe journey. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Thanks GBD. Its not me they're being mean to anyway
You don't need to feel sorry for those people anyway, more TVs than bedrooms and a mahoosive TV upstairs in what was a spare room/ study and is now a cinema/ sports bar. Its just the lounge that is retro. Can't believe they spent that much on a TV years ago....0 -

Great attitude. We have three relatively new flat screen tv's here. Main tv bought after old Sony crt no longer had a picture, second one bought because we could no longer see little portable in bedroom as it is a bigger room than in old house and we are getting older. Third tv bought in Amazon Black Friday sale last year for £65 after said portable started switching itself on and off in spare room.
That's pretty much my attitude to most stuff, though was shocked by how much hoover technology had moved on in 20 years:oPlease stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Shopping karma:
I went to JB Hi-Fi (Dixons) today to get the kids a cheap e reader each. I got there at 2 mins to closing time. Doors locked, letting people out only. I told them I knew precisely what I wanted. It would be walk in and pay. No help, no advice. I'd be out long before the last client. Would they let me in? No chance.
So I went to my local shops to get some dinner and popped into Big W (BHS only not stuck in a time warp). They had some e readers at the same price. Grabbed 2 and took them to the till. $40 for the pair rather than the advertised $50 each. Bargain!
Generali's investment advice: short JB Hi-Fi. Actually scrap that. JB Hi-Fi was a really popular short a couple of years back as it was assumed that they'd be destroyed by the interwebs. Then they released their results and there was what's known as a short squeeze: all the people that were short were scrambling to buy stock to cover their loss-making positions. The shares went up about 30% overnight!
That's the trouble when loads of people sell short: you end up with more shares having been sold than actually exist as some have been sold twice.
I had a lovely day today. Some friends have hired a house an hour up the coast from here. The place is amazing: 9 bedrooms, 2 kitchens and 5 reception rooms. She's a SAHM and he's just starting a year off work (he's in the military). They're doing really well for themselves both financially and in their personal lives. They're lovely people too, it couldn't happen to a nicer couple.
This is the house:

Nikki is exactly my sort of person, not replacing something that works fine just because credit heads would deem it unfashionable is gold star behaviour. Then again most of our TVs / Computer monitors are now LCD as over time they do pay for themselves in terms of energy savings and flat TVs once they are wall mounted save a lot of space - given what we pay for our houses, the 9 sq ft footprint of a big TV is not cheap....I think....0

It's pretty easy to deal with half cousins. It is the virtual relations I find hard. ie my half-brothers have lots of half-brothers I am not related to.Awkward to explain.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

We've got a 32 inch flat screen in the front room, a 32 inch CRT in the boy's bedroom, a 22 inch flat screen in youngest's bedroom, a not working 14 inch CRT in my bedroom and a not working 14 inch CRT in the kitchen.
The youngest telly is the one in youngest's room at nearly 2 years old, the product of an oops deal online which meant I got it for £60 (and it was supposed to replace my non working CRT in my bedroom!)
Our front room telly, although a flat screen, is actually quite old too. At the time we got that, you could still get CRT tellies in the shops.
Talking of tellies, had to take mum and dad on an emergency telly buying shopping trip yesterday, their CRT telly (which is only 4 months older than my front room telly) had decided to go on the blink and they couldn't face the possibility of it finally giving up the ghost on Christmas day...oh my word, what a palavar. Dad is becoming one of those stubborn and impossible elderly people, he even stamped his feet and growled in one shop!
They now have a shiny new 32 inch telly, nicely installed by James and happy older people able to watch Strictly last night. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
