I spent my wedding night in Wells :o

Old hotel, room above a 'gate' with an ancient four poster.

Happy days. What a nice reminder:)

Swan? Its part of a chain now. That top end of town is lovely, the cathedral end.

Its a funny house price place (on topic) because its very mixed, and cathedral green places are massive (as is typical)

Transport is not good in and out of the town. No trains, only buses. Its quite popular with older people, but transport and and medical facilities make me wonder. I have good friend who teaches at the school, and know Wells quite well personally.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Viva xx
Shame we are so far away, James would have been able to help get the tree out of the loft for you if we had been closer.

I've not posted either for a few days as it has been busy busy. Youngest is feeling a bit better, his asthma check went fairly well but because his peak flows are down and his asthma symptoms are increasing, we have an appointment to go back for a further check in the New year.

James didn't win any awards at the awards ceremony but he did manage to pick up an offer for him to go in to mentor students when he is back from uni and in fact, he went in yesterday to chat to the current year 12 about life at uni.

Middle son had his Christmas concert performance on Thursday, it went very well even though the audience were blooming freezing for the first half.

I still haven't got everything, have to wait until I get more money to get the rest of the stuff for Christmas but I have done well out of the local selling page on Facebook, getting presents for neices and nephews (and one for youngest) for next to nothing. All brand new and never opened but at a fraction of the price. As an example, got one for a nephew (well two items actually), that would normally retail for around £20 the two....£1.50 it cost me!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Weather's vile, just popped out to stick some fuel in the car as I've decided to travel tomorrow and not to head off into the 90mph winds they're predicting for Monday.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. We are here for you.

Rather than a tree this year could you have poinsettia as a focal point and/or a large festive vase of flowers? If you are not inclined to do them M&S have some Christmassy bouquets which provide instant cheer.

Viva, as Nikki and Spirit say.

I love Poinsettias. Two or three together look spectacular and make a heart-warming focus at this time of year. We are not big on Christmas trees in our household, but I'll try to remember next year to post a photo of our Chanukah lights.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Watching Nigel Slater on telly - is there anything that bloke doesn't have leftover? He's now making a fried pudding/dessert made from leftover Xmas pudding and leftover brandy sauce. Not that we'll have those two items in the first place, never mind leftover.

    He's SO annoying.

Lol, could be worse. Could be Jamie Oliver.

Good luck, Viva. I'm thinking of you.

    ...

I probably shouldn't say this, given how badly everyone else has it, but I have Man Flu and it's TERRIBLE;) Absolutely vile.

I didn't post earlier as more important stuff was happening on the NPT. Went to hospital a couple of days back. 3 and a half hours of poking, prodding, scanning, consulting, talking, taking samples and lots and lots of waiting. Confirmed that if there is anything untoward that it has been caught very early, but still v good chance it will be benign. Lovely team, really caring and very much made me feel better. Only downside is that they confirmed I won't get results until New year's eve. Still, I'm feeling quite chipper and ready to put tree up, only I can't lift anything so can't get it down from loft with DH (two person exercise), so I think Casa Tifosi is going to look a bit bare this year.

Glad there's some good news. Hoping for the best for you for the results in the New Year. <hugs>

It's not just the public transport that's not good. The road network is slow too, so it takes ages to get there by car even if you're starting from not that far away.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I need to set my heating to come on automatically .... I've been turning it on/off manually. Don't want an empty house enjoying more luxury than I allow myself when I am present!!
