We never buy a huge tree. (Too tight) Its a little shorter than I am.
I always stand it on something though, so I can pretend its bigger that is. I also look at them in horror when they suggest cutting lower branches off. The branches almost touch the ground by the time I have finished decorating and the end of Christmas....I'm sure the standing on something and keeping all the lower branches makes it look much bigger.
Edit....
I also put big things at the bottom and smaller or more delicate things at the top which I think, makes for an artificial stretching of perspective. No trick ignored on my decorating ploys, lol. I plan to do something similar in an area of my garden, make one end of a garden path wider, so it looks as if the path is longer as it gets narrower in the 'distance'.0 -
