Easily swim that distance. Really? That's very, very impressive.

Hands up any other NPs who could do that?
It's only swimming, it's only distance. Without the horrible bits, it's just a matter of keeping going ..... given good, warm weather, a flat/calm sea, no currents, no ships, no jellyfish ... I'd get there.

    It's only 3-5 miles.

I've swum the channel distance before ... in a swimming pool. 26 miles.

. I could have done it as a kid i reckon and right up til theough uni. Now? Haven't swum for years...would doubt I could do serious lengths:rotfl:

I am considering having a go at aqua aerobics in the new year. Oh how the mighty fall, huh?
  • Watching the programme on telly about immigrants.... how come they manage to get so many fake documents .... while I have never even found/been offered cheap fags from somebody's booze cruise?

There's a going rate for fake passports - UK ones are a bit cheaper than western European EU ones, IME.

It says I'm better off than 59% of the population. It seems a bit odd - I'm a single income household and only pay basic rate tax - but I guess it's because it thinks one adult and two children don't need as much as two adults etc. If my income stays the same next year when DS will move up into the 14-18 age group, I'll only be better off than 51% of the population.

Edit - redid this after realising I'd put the wrong numbers in the first time round, and have changed the numbers in this post too. 51% sounds about right. I feel quite medianish!

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

It is. I dont want to think about it. It will feed 15 of us. Did not ask the price I think it is usually £23-25kg so it will be more due to supply/demand. Butcher was a bit reluctant to write on the order to cube it for me..and has said to decide on the day I pick it up.

    Baileys fudge!!!

A massive roast ribs would be cheaper, and very good to eat, as well?

You don't like the idea of the fudge?

  • The idea that older children cost more completely excludes horrendously expensive childcare.

Not now, but usually, I could, excluding cold, jellyfish and passing supertankers, as PN said.

    I did 8,000 m last summer, that's about the same, I think.

True. But for those that opt for them, school fees only get more and more expensive as they get older, I'm afraid, NDG.

    Having said I could..... I wouldn't :)
I just could if I HAD to .... if there were a benefit to doing so that pleased me. No such benefit will be forthcoming, ergo, I won't.
