I got my vouchers last night I was told the date by the cashier and it's on my receipt and the date is stamped on the back can't see what else they could have done tbh
First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T
  • The Argos gift vouchers given out when you spend more than £100 or whatever are a bit rubbish, in that they generally expire after a couple of weeks or so.

I recently got £20 of vouchers when I bought a Kindle Paperwhite. As I didn't have plans to buy anything else from Argos in the short term, I immediately used my £20 voucher towards a £25 M&S gift card, which would last at least two years, and is as good as cash to me.

Other gift cards are sold by Argos, some for exactly £10 or £20. Made the offer a lot more worthwhile to me.

Except the OP didn't get two of those three things. Hence the thread.

I don't want to take responsibility for my own life, I want to be able to sue anyone and everyone for not protecting me properly
    Owing on CC £00.00 :j

It's like shooting nerds in a barrel
  • To summarise, this isnt a Scam and Argos have done nothing wrong.
The date is on the back of the card and if it is unreadable it may have been worth asking for some clarity.

Or so you assume. Neither you nor the OP looked at the receipt, and you haven't seen the card either.

I could make the assumption that the card has been in the OP's back pocket for 2 months and through the washing machine and that's why the date's not clear on it, but I won't make an assumption like that, because I don't want to look like someone who has jumped to an assumed conclusion and can't see any other possibility than their assumptions being correct.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Oh, and they currently have a similar promotion running. I was googling to see if I could get an image of the card and found this:
    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/ArgosPromo3/includeName/giftvoucher1.htm
Spend £100 or more in a single transaction between 27th November and 7th December 2013 when you pay for the item(s) in-store you'll receive:
    • FREE £10 voucher to spend between 27th November and 24th December 2013.

So, at a guess, if the OP had looked online in August they would have seen a similar page of information, with the relevant dates on it.

Well, I tend to assume that when someone posts something, they are telling the truth. And since OP says "No mention was made of any expiry date." and "there is a black rectangle obscuring any indication that this might be an expiry date" I work on the basis that this is true.
