Our laptop is on a desk in the spare room/study, and the chair we use is one designed for an office, but it is very very old. Must be almost twenty five years old, as we got it when we got our very first computer.
It's very uncomfortable and bits drop off it on a regular basis.
One of those kneeling things would be ideal for me, but, as you say, I couldn't justify £100 on it.
I just thank goodness for my iPad, as I can tap away to my hearts content, whilst sitting on the sofaEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Quickly nipping in! I was determined to visit, even if it's not quite the three-page-reply catch up I'd hoped for.
Grey Clouds:
Other people making plans on my behalf, ignoring the fact that I work at home very hard and my days are swamped, but confirming plans with others and telling me about it afterwards ... this is not how I roll
Not being able to say how I feel because other people have their own problems including the fact that they have not only put their head over the parapet in the workplace, but also today they have dug in their heels over a certain institution-wide expectation. This head and heels position is a very uncomfortable, not to say vulnerable, one indeed.I never managed to figure out how to make people realise that I was working and not just having the time of my life every day.
Although certain people might have their own problems going on, try and make sure you're doing things that are ok for you and don't be afraid to say when they've stepped over the line. I'm all for being friendly, but sometimes you've just got to look after yourself, especially if it might prove a problem in the future. (I'm sure you're more sensible than me & already do this - I used to get overwhelmed trying to do too much so learning to say 'no, not now' seems to be my life lesson this year!).Silver linings:
I have a small unexpected spend coming up tomorrow, but is very much a need, not want! I spend far too much time at computer for work but sitting on a dining chair which is killing my back & neck. Have been after an ergonomic kneeling chair for ages but these are £100+ which I just can't justify at the mo.I love those kneely ones, my dad has one, it's great fun.
However, with my foray into Fr*day Ad territory with tumble drier, I found an almost new one for £15! Phoned today thinking it will already have been sold but it's still available and the kind people are even going to drop it off to me as they are coming over to town here tomorrow (they are two towns over) so very, very happy!Bargain!

Will the kneeling chair also serve as a knitting chair? Can imagine you precariously balanced whilst clicking away, and slowly toppling over to one side as the knitting gets heavier...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Sympathies, I've been there more than a few times.I never managed to figure out how to make people realise that I was working and not just having the time of my life every day.

Yes, I appreciate what you're saying P*M, trouble is I've fallen foul when trying to stand my ground before, sometimes I'm just too tired for the argument that a "no" brings. I have had to draw a restriction into it this time, ie: " well if you've now agreed for X to happen, then it will have to happen this way (Y) because you've made the plans and forgotten that I'm already obligated to Z!" if you know what I mean!
Oh yay! I well know the difference of sitting at dining chairs (or, for shame, on the sofa) and having a decent chair. It's not worth feeling rubbish due to chair when you already have health annoyances going on, so glad to hear you're being sensible and getting a good chair.I love those kneely ones, my dad has one, it's great fun.
I have high hopes of it ... or is that optimum height and correct posture hopes of it! Has it helped your dad's back P*M?
Hooray!Bargain!
Hope you have a lovely week xx

Funny day, started all gloomy, turned out lovely but I've just bedded down with hot water bottle as am freezing again!MFW actions:
* Cheeky spend on my new-to-me chair, but bargain £15! Client was round this afternoon (she is professionally qualified re orthopaedic seating) and she tried it and told me it's a very good chair, and hardly used at all (she could tell by something to do with the seat pad)! Very pleased with this although it's given me back ache today but I think that's because it's been forcing me to have a proper posture for a change, rather than slumped over my laptop!
* My emails of yesterday worked and payment for work is now trickling through! Should be able to make a MOP of sorts on Friday.
SMASH day 17 / 100 total = £ 250 / £ 3,000Grey Clouds:
Finally heard back from bank re lowering of interest rate for reaching 50% loan to value, but that was all they said, literally, yes you're right we will reduce the interest rate then, but no answer to my questions about how much and when, you know, the important stuff! So have had to email them again to ask again for the finer details.Silver lining:
Client and I were joking about holidays as we are both having students and therefore not going away this summer, even though Mr. Hbbb is taking a couple of cheeky trips. Client then offered me spare room in her time share in Spain when she goes in the autumn!
We do get on very well and her daughter can't come with her as it'll be term time and she now works in a school.
I'll have to wait and see as I don't know if anything else is coming of this uni job (they keep on about other things for me to do "going forwards" but my actual project hours finish with next week's conference)!
Lovely to be offered the trip though, how kind is that!Daily declutter:
Nowt today, but planning a blitz on student room in between work sessions tomorrow, as DSD will have gone back to her mums and I'll be able to get back into the room. Have a sinking feeling I'm not going to be able to avoid a boot sale much longer (especially with the very slow progress on the SMASH front)!Simple pleasures:
* Friendships.
* Baby sparrow who now enjoys making an appearance at the bird house hole.
* Lettuce for tea (yup, again)!
Hope everyone's Ok. Hump day tomorrow!Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Welcome chair! What do the hounds make of you perched on it?
Boo and hiss to people not paying up - still! And to banky people who only give correspondance a cursory glance, forcing you to contact them yet again.
I think you should go to Spain! You may end up hanging around for uni work that they then delay payment for... But if you have time out scheduled, you will get the work completed because you know what a deadline is.
Hope you have a satisfying day today.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
So lovely about the offer of a holiday.0

One hound has a major problem with it already as it's on wheels (chair, not hound, just to clarify) and I have wooden floors so the sound of me trundling on and off is a little loud and obviously at times either like (a) the sound of the front door (b) sound of thunder, so every time I roll about she either rushes to the front door barking or tries to fit herself under the coffee table in a panic.
I find the thunder one to be particularly rude because it's not as if I'm not trying to lose weight!

Yup, it's exactly how it is, they obviously read the first sentence or two and ignored the rest. I think I may have to phone them at the end of the week and reduce our facility to kick it in.

Thanks A*M that sounds sensible ... and it would be nice to have a whole week off to look forward to, although she doesn't know quite when it will be yet, it depends when she's clear of her own students. I'll wait and see what happens on all fronts but may start another sealed pot just in case!Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Hi A, yes I was really surprised as I didn't know she had a timeshare, let alone would be that happy to have me around for a whole week at a stretchbut we are pretty good friends really (I don't normally have clients round my house, so that shows the difference in itself), I shall definitely think on it and start a pot. Think I may also need to get passport changed as it's still in my old married name and I've been remarried for 4 1/2 years
. Oooh, starting to sound like a holiday planning list!
