  • Sounds great. I wish I was at the painting stage but we are still half plastered and have to wait a bit. Painting is such a great job, quick ish but such a result.
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Depends how much you have to paint. Trying to do a whole house white, including some walls which are shiny orange and pink is not so fun ...or quick

I have put the heating on at some point for the last three days, sitting in jumpers a scarf and bed socks in May was truly depressing! poor school kids what a miserable half term. I am in awe of your painting prowess, you are making so much progress.

I too would like to get in the garden but that is now very unlikely looking at the weather forecast.

Thanks for stopping by Toots! Today rain has stopped play outside ... client work has stopped play inside, so today's another day at the coal face (Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but you get the picture, would rather be doing anything except working today ....)!

First coat white on orange must be quite satisfying but second coat of white on white (or even third coat to completely cover said shiny orange must be no fun at all)!

I feel your pain Janey! Hope you're OK!

Have just taken short break then back to work ... hope to mosey over to threads this evening so I will be checking for signs of shiny orange!

The house is all white now, well mostly, the spare room and bathroom are magnolia as we did those more recently. Before we moved in we worked on the house for 3 months to make it habitable. We ripped out everything we could rip out ripped out, fixed and reinforced what needed it, OH pulled down a few walls and ceilings then reinstated and plastered, put in a new (to us) free kitchen, new tiling, new very cheap flooring, fitted a multi-fuel burner and painted over everything. There was more but the list would be endless! The previous owners had one shiny dark mustard room, one shiny yellow room, one dreadful pink hallway and a LOT of woodchip

It is now sort of presentable on the surface but needs a lot of work if you dig a bit deeper :o

Oh and painting white on white for 4-5 coats is the definition of boooooring!

    Janey :)

Weirdly grim kind of day,not pelting down but lots of water vapour in the air ... washing mostly dried on the line though!

    ;) MFW actions:

    * Language school rep came round & approved us instantly ... getting back to us in the next few days with some booking options, so need to get skates on with the decorating. Should mean making a couple of extra hundred for MOPs over the summer though as I shall meal plan carefully to make sure it's worthwhile for us (but so that students are also well fed and happy).
    * Did spend today but all towards winter fuel (cheap 2 hour logs and firelighters in the Here for a £ shop) ... went via £Co to get cash back so all very :money:

    :(Grey Clouds:
I'm normally amazingly disciplined when it comes to working from home but found it sooooo hard today ...hump of the week thing?

    :)Silver Lining:

Achieved a bit of a balance in the end though - met two deadlines, did a couple of hours on the uni project, cleaned house & met with student lady, finished work by 8 (as per personal goal) then put another coat of paint on skirtings in bedroom as Mr Hbbb is out.

Oh and DIY shop exchanged the rubbish paint for another one, which seems much better so I can crack on with that a bit tomorrow!

    :pDaily declutter:

Freecycler failed to show up for collection so will have to relist that one and charity bag peeps failed to show up too, so will have to phone them again! Frustrating day on that front really!

    :DSimple pleasures:
Seeing a plan starting to come together (students etc).
Watching chickens playing with their spaghetti ... I have pasta-lovin' poultry!

Hope everyone else has had a good day!

Habibiboo, had to come over to your thread to see the roses referred to by MWC and GG. Beautiful ones you have in your garden and the magnolia too :)

Here is a similar one in our garden :-)

How on earth do you fit so much in to each day?? Are you Wonder Woman in disguise? Bet Mr Hbbb would like the outfit....

Good news on the students. I did this for a couple of years when I was single - tho I wasn't canny enough with money at that point, d'oh! Would happily do it now but dh refuses point blank!

    Hope your day runs smoothly.
