Were there any side effects from eating the rhubarb leaves?
MWCx
No MWC, they didn't eat any they literally just did their little dig shuffle and trashed the baby stalks looking for insects, they didn't go for the leaves at all. I was a little watchful because I know rhubarb leaves can be toxic, but obviously not watchful the whole time ...
Side effect of right grumbles from Himself for 10 minutes was observed though!
Re: the rose, very similar Muddy, but it's a Falstaff! They are lovely in the garden but we also end up with quite a few in the rose bowl because quite a few of the heads become too top heavy for their stems when they're in full bloom and they easily die off from the droop. I'd recommend them if you're looking for something to add to the garden! xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Hi Hbbb,
I've just left a message on your blog! I'm very jealous of your beautiful garden! I can't wait until I can start thinking about the garden.
I hope you have a lovely time at the theatre. I might suggest something similar to my Mum as it was her birthday last week and she doesn't want a present

Thanks for that Janey, will pop over there later and put some more pics up. Yes, we are very lucky with the garden although we've spent lots of time improving it. It was the size and aspect of the garden which sold the house to us really!
I'm sure yours will come good with a little time - understandably you have lots of other things you're seeing to at the moment, such as wedding planning ...!
Theatre vouchers is a good idea ... we often use these as gifts for mum and stepdad, they're at that age where they have most of what they need (plus 2 lifetimes worth of smellies and socks) but they do like to have a few treats such as a night out. If the performance turns out to be brill, they love talking about it ... if it turns out to be awful, they love talking about it, so a well received gift all round! :rotfl:
Hope you're feeling a little better xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Thanks Toots, we love it when spring comes around and we know that more time in the garden is just around the corner!
I know what you mean about suddenly finding you're "into" your garden, I think gardening is something which definitely grows on you! :rotfl:
I thoroughly recommend anything with a bit of poodle in it, standards are lovely companions, totally trainable and can be good guard dogs too! The mum of our female poodle x was an apricot standard and she really was the loveliest and most polite dog I have ever met (mind you I did used to hang about with retrievers up until then)!
You're going to have a wonderful time when it comes to choosing your pooch! xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Hope everyone's OK and had some of this fabulous sunshine!
What I did:
* 5 hours work.
* Scrubbed down hen house & washed up all chicken pots and chooky grot spots, beds freshly made up for bedtime!
* Weeded 4 raised beds
* Successive sowing on lettuces - another 10 safely into bed!
* Planted out my courgettes (2 plants) but these went into beet bags as beets have just not appeared. Will think of somewhere else for beets and try to get some more going.
What I didn't:
* Plant my peas out (1st lot failed) but Mr Hbbb kindly did them for me as he wanted to do something with the soil in the patch so I just let him get on with it!MFW actions:
NSD, working to gain a little more income before the end of the month.Grey clouds:
Would rather have been pottering in the garden all day!Silver lining:[/COLOR]
Lovely weather for it!Daily declutter:
Another 5 items into charity bag - have had to start a bin bag for them to take alongside original bag. Total = 162 / 365!Simple pleasures:
* 1st harvest of broad beans (whole pods as they are so young) into lovely veggie risotto cooked by Mr Hbbb!
* Having my henhouse housework checked up on by the very exacting residents ... hilariously nosy! I don't know what I'll do when there are 5 of them to keep happy!
So, to update last week's mini goals:
Weekly Will-do:
For the coming week:
1) 5 NSD - achieved 4 only due to MSE newsletter and the John Greed discount, but glad it worked out this way because although it meant spending on a day I didn't aim to, it meant I got a fab birthday gift for my son's OH for a fraction of the cost, so overall it was a very MSE spend!
2) Do something for me on Weds p.m - this ended up being swapped to Thurs but worked out OK, old friends round for a cuppa!
3) No work after 8 pm (apart from Wednesdays) Achieved! :T
4) Revise and reset budget now that I have set up possibilities on YNAB, ready to trial a different way of doing things in June. Done, little tweak needed once we hit end of month!
5) Phone local college and local language school to compare options for having students before this summer's over with! Done, home visit booked in for Weds, plus emails to other language schools sent.
6) Complete 1 knitting / craft project 2 herrings completed but not sewn up yet!
!
Next week's goals along shortly!Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!
