    Hi Hbbb

    I just subscribed to your diary after reading that you are 'coming out of the classroom'? What a wonderful idea! I'll put it on my list of diaries to read from the start!

    Thanks Janey, lovely to meet you!
    Yes, I'm out of the classroom and feeling much better for it although I'm still down at the GP more than I'd like to be! I'm loosely working back in education part time now though with the local uni and doing a freelance thing so it's all good ... apart from managing the mortgage!

    Sometimes these things just have to be weighed up though and the cost to my health (with my vulnerability to little critter's germs) just wasn't worth it in terms of the salary. Now I earn approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of what I was earning (depending on the month /clients) but I'm much better in myself. The frugal way of life is in full flow and having taken the whole MFW journey in hand we're now able to make MOPs.

    If you get the chance, have a peep at Elantan's diary too, she has some good thoughts about the overall "value" of the life you live and the price you pay.

    Good luck with your own escape from the classroom ventures, I'll look out for your diary too!
    :)

    Gosh, busy times! Quick round up then tomorrow's another day!

    What I did:
    * Lots of work!

    What I didn't:
    * Just about everything else - work life balance seems slightly skewed because Mr. Hbbb is home and I seem to be working longer to make up for him just wanting to ask this or that or to spend half an hour planning garden etc. Also trying to do extra this end of the week to make up for Thurs outing to see his sister and BIL.
    Don't get me wrong, I'm not moaning about time spent with OH, I realise I'm lucky, especially with his health scare, it's just hard to keep things balanced at the moment :o

    ;)MFW actions: Fiscal fast is still on. Account swap should finish on Weds, letter from old bank today confirming the closure. NSD.

    :(Grey Clouds: work - life balance, not sticking to diet very well either, funny how the two go hand in hand!

    :)Silver linings: Slight fiscal result ... received that CPP letter a while back (mentioned in MSE newsletter a few times) so I returned it. Today a cheque for just over £80 pay back arrived! :T
    Am putting that into emergency fund rather than MOP as am on target with MOP goal for this month and really want something behind us a little. Still have no savings account to put it into though! Anyone know what's the equivalent of the old post office savings account kind of thing, easy in or out, bit of interest? Does this kind of account exist any more?

    :p Daily Declutter: 2 x past it pillows reassigned from human beds to dog beds, scraggy old dog bedding chucked. That's 3 items so total of 131 / 365.

    :DSimple pleasures:
    * Cuddles
    * Hens returning to "normal", eggs laid today!

    Hope everyone's Ok. Plans for tomorrow include work, son and his partner coming to lunch (they all work weekends so don't usually get much catch up time) then more work and catching up with others' threads (you know who you are ;) )and my knitty plans during evening! X

    Thanks Hbbb

    I very much agree with the 'value' of life approach and am returning to part-time next year. Not exactly through choice but we are hoping to start a family so I think it will be better in the long run!

    Anyway, it seems I didn't actually subscribe to your diary before and just had to track it down again, so will subscribe now :)

    Funny old day, sunny but chilly (weather et al)!

    ;)MFW actions: Fiscal fast nearly over but going OK. Need time to check spreadsheets etc but seem to have a time management problem at the mo ... just can't manage the time for most of the things I want to do, let alone need to do!:o

    :(Grey Clouds: Mr. Hbbb got unexpected call from Cardiology dept at local hospital re: referral from GP for sonar scan on heart. They have had cancellation so have fitted him in quickly apparently. Hmmm, not like we knew about this! Mr Hbbb murmured something about murmurs being mentioned by GP. So, feeling stressed and have eaten all the remaining eclair chocs in tub of Heroes from Xmas (me, not him). Mr. Hbbb needs fixing, my diet is well and truly broken.

    :)Silver linings: Middle Hbbb-bobbin, his partner and her daughter came for long leisurely lunch today. Took a few hours off to be with them which was lovely as they all work in same eaterie and spend all weekends working and with long shifts too so we don't get to see them often enough really. It was all very easy and very lovely (apart from phone call in the middle).

    :pDaily Declutter: Defunct, redundant curtain rail taken down from workroom and quickly freecycled! Total = 132 / 365

    :DSimple pleasures:
    * Family
    * Walking the dogs
    * Skipping work for long, lazy lunch
    * Reeking of garlic (again) and not having to care too much!

    Hope everyone is OK x

    Hi Hbbb

    I'm sending positive thoughts to you and Mr Hbbb regarding his health. It is so easy to take it for granted and it's just about the most stressful thing to be worrying about, so look after yourself and him.

    :eek: You still have Christmas chocolate! :eek: Get decluttering!

    We had lots of garlic at the weekend and the smell really hung around :rotfl: I do love it though so not too bad :rotfl:

    Take care,

    Janey x

    PS I'm really enjoying your diary, just finished page 2 :)

    It is quite interesting how the work life balance affects things like eating etc, and as soon as we feel we are slowly getting back on track so does the eating ...

    maybe the answer is working on the balance and not the diet?

    Re: Mr Hbbb, we're just muddling along and will worry if we have to. He's still in his "I'm fine, I've played professional rugby and I'm still alive, therefore invincible" mode so I'm openly supporting that but gently looking after him too! Sent him off for a nap this afternoon and made him emergency appt with dentist this morn because he had a big abscess come up * refusing to think about all the theories which link gum health to heart health! it's madness having four sisters between us who work in medical profession - you can't escape theories! *

    Re: Xmas choc - heroes successfully declutter end but still have. T'Tons Xmas chocs. If they're dated long enough I'll leave them till next Xmas!

    Re: the diary, I'm astounded by your dedication but thank you for kind words! Will make extra effort to write on yours before I end up with a similar reading exercise too! X
