    Here u are me dear :) the Mse cure for all ill's :) allegedly
  • Morning Habibiboo, trust me, it does help. Earlier this year when I'd had surgery and was struggling to get back to normal, I gave this a go. I even started taking some before it matured which was a bit mad, but I was desperate :eek:

    I love image of big bird bouncers :rotfl:

    Sorry to hear you're feeling rough - hopefully you can take it easy but I think I read you're working today? Sending 'good health vibes' over to you.

    Best wishes, Tilly x

    :wave:

    Gosh, what a kind bunch of lovely visitors, thank you all!

    :) Elantan, thanks so for the recipe, I think I have everything except for the roots and the cider, but may text Mr Hbbb as he's out at friends collecting rest of the greenhouse & said he's going to pop into M'sons on his way home.

    :) Alchemilla, yes he's a chalk too, except he's more than that, he's a one man mission determined to add imagination and wonder to teenage lives through ... geography! Seriously though, he's good at his job but when the school became an academy 2 years ago they got rid of everyone over 55 and have been slowly culling "older" staff since (through lay offs and other methods). Only OH and one colleague now over 55 in whole school apart from head who is now leaving herself. New broom coming in by September (except it's known that new broom is old bag) who will carry on old chalk culling in bid to save costs by (a) having cheap, bright new things as opposed to old, wise experienced ones (b) sharing staff across the two secondary academies in the town, something which has started happening already and ... this new broom just happens to be the head of the other academy and will be working across both sites! This is the current backdrop and why OH is being really paranoid about getting laid off, hence thread title and my worry about his own health and stress levels at mo! I could say more about this but I worry about making him / school to easily identifiable which would probably also be grotty in the work sense!

    :) Tilly, I gave up on the idea of working yesterday ... My next deadline is Tuesday so as long as I can get back to it today and then work through most of the weekend and treat Mon like a work day I should be Ok. I spent yesterday being sensible, sleeping, resting and waiting for head and nausea to lift. :o
    :) Thanks too A*M and MWC x

    In all not much of an update of current doings as I failed to do much yesterday at all. So quick round up for yesterday / today includes:

    ;). MFW actions: plan now in place to pay over that pesky £149.05 which means extra mini target of £108,000 by end of this month (which of course I'll then have to overpay by at least 1p so I can tell myself we're under £108 K, which will then put us back in the messy number place ... but in a good way)! Spreadsheet to be updated today sometime, NSD yesterday, today may involve spends of Masters tonic ingredients.

    :( Grey clouds: headache still in play, but nausea lifted thanks to meds.

    :) Silver lining: getting some well earned R & R.

    :p Daily declutter: going on 15 in 15 mission for mums boot sale shortly.

    :D Simple pleasures:
    * Kind, friendly and helpful MSE folk
    * Weather's reasonable today
    * There's always a plan B in hand!

    Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter weekend x

    Haven't had a chance to read it all got to the cider bit and went woah hold on lol

    It's apple cider vinegar ... I know you probably know this but wanted to check with you ... Also if you can get apple cider vinegar with the " mother" in it apparently that's better :)

    Right back to reading :)

    Loving the way your brain is thinking :)

    Sorry to hear that about oh's job, Mr El is similar but slightly different in that he is one of the " old" contracts so he has sick pay pensions holidays etc the new " contracts " are on half his wages with only SSP pension is nest and holidays are 20 a year, just now they are trying to get rid of the old ones as they cost too much, they seem to be giving them sweeteners and golden hand shakes, Mr El is a bit young yet to be thinking of anything like this but if enough older men take the deal then he will be got rid of very quickly

    It's one of those reasons why we keep trying to get the mortgage down and make our out going costs less

    We will get there HBBB

    :wave: Elantan & Tilly! :wave:

    Well! That was an experience indeed!

    Don't worry El, I did realise cider vinegar and not StrongB*w or owt but ... crikey girls, not sure it would have made much difference to the taste!

    It went like this:

    * OH popped back on way home, before going to SM.
    * I present him with list (garlic, roots and unpasterurised cider vinegar mainly)
    * "What kind of witches' brew are you making here?"
    * Gentle explanation of my need and of the kind recommendations received. Website recipe shown so he knows its bona-fide medicinal and not madcap scheme thought up by self or MSE friends etc.
    * Off he goes.
    * Comes back with said items.
    * Calls me to show him recipe again, which I do.
    * He insists he will make it for me. Cue chopping, whizzing noises from kitchen.
    * Brings up what looks like strange brew indeed, nothing like the pics on the website! Like very diluted sandwich spread.
    * Hands me spoon and says "I'm going to watch this."
    * I take first spoonful bravely, but slowly.
    :eek: Nearly choke to death.
    * "Quick" says he, with a caring :rotfl: "take next one quickly."
    * Next one taken quickly. More :eek: and tears rolling down my face.
    * Mr. Hbbb: continuing :rotfl: "so, feeling better yet?"

    :( Apparently he couldn't get horseradish root so he *substituted* with horseradish sauce and extra chillis.

    :o We didn't read the bit about eating a bit of bread and maybe honey until much later. I'd had my muesli about 20 mins before taking the brew. Not a recommended combination, it has to be said!

    :) Headache is lifting now, Mr. Hbbb is not convinced it's magic of mixture, more that my body now has other things to think about.

    :D So, immature dose here too, but rest assured ladies, when I take my brew I will be thinking of you two!

    :eek: Tilly, how did you take this after surgery without rupturing stitches or such! El, not just MSE (as in less than a prescription for jollop) but a morning's free entertainment for Mr. Hbbb.

    I'm sticking with the programme though, will be having next dose just before my pasta supper as I think it will sit better with this than museli!

    :D You two!

    :wave: Thanks El, that's what's so lovely about these boards, there's always someone else in the same boat to share the rough tides (hugs)

  • Hi Habibiboo, I must admit I was pretty ropey and needed a lift. I'm nearly through my witches brew :eek:

    I can imagine Mr Hibb was laughing - it does mature to a more acceptable level (was going to use the word flavour but that would be wrong :eek:)

    Glad to hear you've had a good laugh, which probably helped with the headache anyway
