Hi Hbbb :hello:
I must say I've really missed your cheerful writing and simple pleasures, so it's good to have you back
I'm feeling a bit under the weather at the moment, but don't think it's too bad as I couldn't face that tonic you described
Sorry to hear about your chicken, but I'm glad she went peacefully.
I hope real life calms down a little for you
Janey x
Many thanks Janey, I appreciate it!
So sorry you are feeling, grot ... hope you get some gentle R & R to recover a bit, you can always consider the tonic as a fall-back!
I'm not sure real life has yet returned to calm, but it is in manageable mode, which is good enough for me!Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Thanks MWC, ridiculous to miss a hen this much but she used to wait at their little gate for me at my approximate break times so I still look up from work and expect to see her there!
Mr Hbbb thought we might now save a bit of cash on mealworms but the blackbirds are now bringing their babies down daily ...!
Hope all's well with your flock! XStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Hope everyone's ok, many thanks for your messages!MFW actions:
Couldn't pay door man as he said not to as his son hadn't sent through the invoice (it was meant to be here ready for the installation) so new door is in but money is still in my account for a few more days! He's going to pop back by end of week with invoice and pick up cheque. Was almost a no spend day as a result but ... see below!
Store cupboard dinner including harvest of my first lettuce :TBlack clouds: Uni job is proving very tricky and they have just brought the project deadline forward by a month ... which I only found out because I asked them about something else and got a "by the way someone should have told you ...." call!
Silver lining:
Door man has large chicken and duck flock, so picked up lots of advice about adding to our numbers now that we are down to lairy pair. Spoke to Mr Hbbb about it all over dinner and reminded him about my favourite ex-battery rehoming site and he suggested that we do indeed add to the flock next time they have some needing homes. So I checked the site after I finished work this eve and they need homes at the end of June ... so I spent £10 to secure us 3 more chooks!
Of course none of them will be Alice but it feels good to know we will be giving a happier time to a few deserving ladies. 3 seems a sensible number for not squishing them into the coop (would be very unfair to do that to ex-batts, for obvious reasons) but getting 3 allows them to slightly outnumber lairy pair, which might well work in their favour over the settling in period!Daily declutter: two piles of 'archived' papers successfully shredded from study = 133 / 365.
Simple pleasures:
* Wearing a new snugly jumper my mum gave me at the weekend. I put it on one side as I thought it was nearly summer but very cold here today (although bright) and with the breeze blowing through hole where front door would have been for most of the day, very glad of it!
* Last night's al fresco tea was brill! Mr Hbbb planned romantic surprise of making a Swedish candle. He was very proud to share that these cost nearly £20 at Waitdaisy according to interweb but he made it all himself from hefty stashed log, string, wire and newspaper. Is it tragically sad to admit to have had a great evening spent watching a single burning log? Was real fun though (did have a hot choc with last of Xmas Baileys to ward off chills once sun went down). Poor dogs were very confused by it all but wouldn't go in and leave us!
Hope everyone's had a good day! xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

I enjoy your 'simple pleasures'.
It's a reminder to me that I have a lot to be grateful for, if I just take a couple of moments each day to think about how lucky I amEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Oooh, absolutely not tragic at all. That's one of my favourite 'simple pleasures'

Thanks GG, you're right, even on a really bad day, just crawling into a snug bed and a feel-better hot water bottle offers the simple pleasure of getting the day over with in style ... well, simple style at least!Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Glad you think so PP!
They're nowt to do with a certain yellow and blue branded Scandinavian home style shop! Will have to resurrect my old blog and put pics up sometime!
I think a search brings up the pricey Waitdaisy option too ... ours was about 3 times the size of it! Let me know if you can't find it and I'll get the man to tell me what site he used as it sounds like something you might enjoy some time this summer! xStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Busy old day, but the week's going fast thanks to the bank holiday!MFW actions:
Small Tilly tidy; have put various ID docs in my bag as have to go out for meetings again tomorrow and will pass Nationwidthways on way back. AppleMuncher's inspired me to pop in there and claim my dormant account and see what lurks within, might use that one for the emergency fund which has stalled in its attempts to grow!Grey clouds:
Awkward situation not of my making, to do with work. Will try to stay quietly just doing ma thing in the background, like wallpaper or such. Can't see me can you? No? Good!Silver linings:
Had a very good night's sleep last night, not something I take for granted!Daily declutter:
Two books passed on to a friend = 135 / 365Simple Pleasures:
1) Coming in through new front door today without fear or trepidation!
2) Hydrangea and azalea coming into bloom about now, lovely hot pinky purple splashes in the garden.
3) Being able to just about fit into more formal work type trousers which I haven't worn for ages (usually wear more casual clothes to work at home, but not PJS).
4) Weighing self and finding out I haven't put back on as much as I thought. Not lost any mind, but hey ho looking at it positively and the work trousers don't lie (unlike my fickle scales)!
Hope everyone's ticketyboo! XStash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!
