  • Oh and regarding Tv packages..

I rang Sky again the other day to cancel ( on the free number of course :0 ) Spoke to a very straightforward woman..bearing in mind my latest deal was full package ( for 9 months) at £14.
Operator- asked why i wanted to cancel-i said because i can't afford full price and so was cancelling.
    Operator-How about a reduced package?
    Me -How much
    Operator-£27
    Me-Too dear
    Operator-Are you bothered about movies?
    Me-No
This is where it gets interesting..
O-So why do you have them?
Me-Well i cancelled and someone rang me up with a good deal-It was in my budget so i said Ok-otherwise not bothered.
    O-well that's your perogative
Me -yes it is, as it is my money. I'll watch it if it is on and there is a choice, but to be honest i am not bothered either way as can quite happily live without it.
O-You do realise you haven't paid full price for four years
    Me-What's your point
O-well that you ring to cancel etc
    Me-well i am not looking for a deal-as i said i am not bothered
O -well we can offer you a deal for 12 months( no contract) reduced package ( no movies/sports) but this will probably be your last.
    Me-As i said i am not after a deal
    O-will £12( it maybe 13) be ok
Me-if i can afford it, if not i will cancel
O-i will put that on straightaway-movies and sports till end of month and i only start paying in March.

Not bad for no deal :D I could reduce it to £6.99 and i still might cancel yet :D

    I do like a good negotiation :D

That was exceptionally well done soon to be GBob :)

We have had them phone us once and try to offer us a deal but the deal was nothing we were interested in .... As I said to the guy... If you can guarantee me that there will be some decent by my standard's stuff on every day and if you can guarantee me I won't be getting irritating phone calls trying to sell me stuff then we can talk

He couldn't so we get cut off next week ... I am honestly looking forward to it tbh

I am curious and looking forward to talking to a certain sheep ... I think he has plans afoot that will be exciting ... I'm sure he is currently working out plans but can't wait till we viber :)

We will need to have a wee mini meet ourselves Miss soon to be GBob :)

The trick is not to negotiate and be prepared to use it as free view :D

To be honest sometimes that is easier because the offspring can't clog up the planner with their programmes:o:rotfl:

But i did like the fact i haven't paid full price for four years:rotfl:

See when you were in your old house ? What type of grief did you get ?

In the old house, I informed them that I didn't have a telly, and they sent a snotty letter saying "We'll send someone round anyway." Which they did. In this house, I didn't inform them, and they sent someone round anyway.

How did you deal with it?

    "Do you have a TV?"
    "No."
"Are you going to get a TV?"
"Not unless you stop putting shiite on."
    elantan wrote: »
    Did they come often ?

Nope. A couple of times in the first year. Nothing after that, as it is expensive.
    elantan wrote: »
    Were the letters frequent ?

Are. They get posted through the letter box every couple of months. I post them through the shredder at about the same frequency.

But until we are mortgage free I am not going to concentrate too much on savings just incase one or both is us loose our jobs ( I will still be saving just not as much as I would like)

Check the T&C's on your mortgage. See if overpayments will be taken into account if you have to stop paying.

In other news... I'm considering going back to uni, I'm gonna be honest here and say I am still scarred from the last time, I love studying but I still can't face it after the last time, I was so miserable on that course and found it to be very stupid, I mean seriously duplo bricks and Xmas trees made out of straws !!!!!!

Management training is very similar. Be afraid, be very afraid.

So was thinking maybe go back to uni to study to be a kinda CPN or something ... Now I know I would be good at this job ... I know I could do it no worries ... But I ain't gonna lie, it's not like I lie in my bed at night and think ohhh my dream job would be CPN ... I don't ... I just know I could do it very well

If I went back to uni to study nursing I would also be paid a bursary which would help with finances...

So I'm trying to decide do I want to put myself through all that again? Yes the course could be very different from before ( let's face it it couldn't be much worse)

Well...perhaps you should canvas for, and seek the opinion of nurses who have gone through the course. I have heard what I would consider to be horror stories, but of course we are different, and you may consider it to be parr for the course.

yes I could do the job, but will that job give me fulfilment ?

    What *would* give you fulfilment?
    elantan wrote: »
Should I seek fulfilment in a job?

    Yes.

Would having a great life in every other aspect be acceptable if I have a job that doesn't totally satisfy me?

Always strive for more. Just make sure it doesn't lead to less.

I don't think I would hate the job tbh ... In fact I might enjoy it and I would be good at it ... Would that be enough? Is it too much to expect to have every area of my life perfect ?

    You can try for it.

Can I go back to uni though ?

Some people are happy doing a job that pays them well and they get their satisfaction outside the job - it's a means to an end (my eldest brother).

Others need to feel they are achieving something or changing something or giving something back (me).

It's knowing which side of the fence you fall on and how far away from the fence you are! I suspect you are more the latter than the former.

I can send you a book if you think it will help - it helped me!
