I could have raised a lot of money and cleared a bit more debt before Crimbo couldn't I? Why didn't I think of that? Selling boxes of 'Brogden Baubles?' Loved by young and old alike :rotfl:!!!!

What are you all like!!
Lucky your tree sounds fantastic. My tree isn't even themed. I think one day I will have to grow up and stop putting every shade of tinsel around the house and start a theme, but for now, my tree epitomises my own childhood and I adore each and every bauble. Even the ones hidden around the backIt even has my very first shoe from when I was a baby on it!!
Mum has the other. I like the ninja turtles bauble
I have various santas and snowmen/reindeer where you pull a cord and they move around, and others that are bells etc. Bump into my tree in the dark at your peril!
Brogden you've got a year to turn your business idea around for next year. My new bauble from mum this year is 'Santa, I can explain!' :rotfl:
Jelly and I are slowly getting over the cold. I still have the cough driving me mad but that is mercifully all. Jelly is better in terms of the 'cold' but she has cheeks that are so red they almost look cracked and bleeding. Surefire sign that the 6 molars she has left to fit into her mouth are on their way  - this also explains the midnight wanderings and lack of want for dinner. She was fine eating cookie mix though!!
We baked cookies today. Dairy free, recipe below. They are lovely and so easy! Melt in the mouthJelly melted my heart with her adorable help today. She thinks that the cookie dough is called 'fingers out' - 3 guesses why!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Fab recipe, very easy
4oz marg (dairy free for us)
3oz soft brown sugar (I used demerara and it was lush!)
2 tablespoon of golden syrup
6oz self raising flour
4oz choc chips (dairy free here)
2 teaspoons of milk (soya milk for us)
Cream the marg and sugar, add the golden syrup and mix, then add the flour bit by bit until all mixed in. Next chuck in the choc chips, stir and then use a teaspoon to scoop bits of mix, roll it into balls and pop on a greased baking tray. 8-10 mins at 170 degrees and they are perfect. Just leave them to cool slightly before you lift them as they are very soft when first out. Can recommend. Jelly will recommend too.
Making more tomorrow and maybe some melting moments so that MiL and FiL who are visiting tomorrow, will be able to enjoy them fresh.
Mums op tomorrow. Squeaky bums time. Sis & I have synchronised our watches. A long and tedious wait from 6 tomorrow morning awaits us until we know she is awake and ok. Frightened to be honest but I am sure she will pull through. She's a fighter. Have sent her a video of Jelly making cookies today. I ask her if she would like her chair moving closer to the worktop and she says 'Yes please' perfectly. I love how her manners are there without prompt now. Takes a lot of work but it is something Him & I believe above all else. She needs to be polite!
Pop (mums dad) is on the hospital, has been for over a week now. He had a fall at home in the middle of the night and nanny rang an ambulance to fetch him and forgot to tell mum. She then casually dropped it into conversation with my uncle the next day and told him to 'ask mum' when he said 'What?!' - Mum hadn't a clueso rang the hospital to figure it all out. He was fine, but needed some TLC as he has a cracked bone in his foot. He had been moved to a local hospital for physio and respite help with getting him walking again etc. Something he doesn't want to do! He has been confused for a couple of days and today got up and tried to walk out of the hospital. This resulted in a fall very close to his bed as he is so unsteady but forgot this. He had no idea what he was doing. Mum had taken his 90+ year old sister and my nanny over to visit and they had to visit him on the floor waiting for an ambulance crew to come and move him/take him to A&E back at the big hospital again. Luckily not broken anything but it is not looking good. He has been admitted and is on antibiotics there. With kidney failure I am tempted to think toxicity is causing the confusion. I hope he lasts through Christmas at least but for his sake it would be better if he went. He is in an undignified state of existence now and it is hard to see such a proud man reduced to nothing. Love him. I said my goodbyes so I am trying not to be too upset.
As always, a lot going on at Lilty towers. Mostly good though. Seeing friend for coffee tomorrow and cannot wait to see her. She lives 3 miles away and yet we have not managed to get together in nearly a year. She has a little girl (5 in April) with Downs Syndrome and she started special school recently. That meant her mum went back to work part time, and this means we both have to juggle school, nursery, work commitments and homelife around seeing each other. Excited to see her. Her LG started walking not long after she started at the new school. I cried at a video! It has been so long in coming but there is no stopping her now!
Right, best go to sleep. Up early, taking Jelly to nursery and then off to see friendIn laws here in the afternoon. Likely not on til tomorrow night. Hugs to all xx

Lilt - positive thoughts for your mum, really hoping all goes well.
So sorry to hear about your Pop, such a sad situation. As time goes on, I'm remembering my Grandad more as he really was, not how he was at the end, I hope this for you too in time.
Cookies sound lush! Lovely easy recipe too - we've got sister-in-law and OH's niece and nephew to stay for a few days after Christmas and you may have inspired me to do some baking with them!Mortgage December 2023: TBC

Hope all has gone well with the op - hugs in there way. Poor Pop none of us should lose our dignity. Cookies sound very good may try the recipe when I am off over Crimble. Take care of that cough and don't let it linger, I made that mistake about 18 months ago and suffered for ages. Xx:j I belong to Mike's Mob :j0

Hey Hun, wow lots going on with you!
Really hope Mums op went well and you can relax a bit now. Your poor Mum has been through the mill recently.
So sorry to hear about your Pop too. It's awful when you see older people reduced to such things when you once knew them so strong. Cruel.
I hope your catch up with your friend happened and went well.

Thinking of you Lilt.
Hope all went well today with your mum's op. Looking forward to hearing some very positive news.
And sorry to read about you Pop - it's so hard as they get older, so hard to see. He's lucky to have caring people around him.
Look after yourself.
