Hope you are both feeling a bit better this morning. Make sure you drink plenty. Sorry for sounding like your mum but I know how important it is to not get dehydrated (been there and it was rubbish). Makes you feel so much worse and you might not even realise it is that. Drink, drink, drink! (Water or something similar, not coffee/tea/alcohol ;))

You are very close with your guessing of the illness that often plagues me. It starts with I but ends with BD :(

  • Lucky I think we were feeling very similar. This is not just a cold; this is an M&S cold. With bells on. get well soon chick!!

gap very close indeed!! Not the dreaded Crohn's I hope? Doesn't it seems like we are all struggling with one thing or another under the surface? Humans are so flawed :(

Thanks everyone!!!!, Gibby lovely to see you pop in! I promise faithfully to have been drinking, however I can't say it wasn't coffee... :rotfl: - I needed it just to form sentences yesterday. I did top up with lots of squash and water too. I went to bed at 6pm which only resulted in being awake at 5am! Still, nice long sleep and I did wake up feeling a fair bit better today! Glands are still way up though :(

I have 2 kinds of good news today.. Maybe more actually...

    1. I got the bus, to save money!! And the driver didn't have change which saved me another 9p ;) £6.11 (11p was all the change I had) instead of £10.50 on the train & bus! I took a pack up and avoided Costa in the hospital foyer and super expensive machine snacks :j
    2. I saw an excellent consultant who spent nearly an hour seeing me, taking notes, checking my movements or lack of them and who asked ME what I wanted. He seemed amused by the fact that my request was to be a bit more normal, and take less painkillers.. Maybe due to the fact that my main reason was to stop MiL nagging me so much about taking pills! And because MiL probably has a point that an average of 120mg to 240mg codeine a day can't be good, on top of all my own pills for a year now! He even asked me if I had an idea of a course of treatment, and when I sheepishly said.. well I would like to try an injection of steroids into my back, he CLAPPED! He said I have advanced disk disease, and facet joint disease of my lumbar spine and that he believes an injection would be very beneficial to me as I am obviously someone who would like to be more active and get up and do things, and this will hopefully help. Better still, if this doesn't work, there are two other options!! :D So I get an injection in early January, although that does mean I have to have a week off work. :( It will be done on a Tuesday and I need to give it 5 days minimum recovery. I asked if he could do it on a Friday instead but they only do the surgery Tuesdays :( bless him he offered to write a doctors note and everything. So whilst a surgical procedure and an injection into your spine might not be everyone's idea of good news, it is fantastic news for me!! :D:D :T
    3. I went to bed at 6pm last night, and when I woke up at 5am, I had a text from the previous evening from my landlord... It says: 'Hello Lilt! I hope you are well? I just wanted to say thank you for saving me a tonne of money on a brand new boiler (and for being an excellent tenant) and I would like to give you £100 off your rent this month! Just take it off the standing order this month. Merry Christmas, from LL & family! :o:o:o :t:j

    Happy days :D

No, not Crohn's, the other one (UC) although I have had so many ops that I don't actually have it anymore. It has just created other problems.

Great news about the spinal thingy! A step in the right direction anyway.

Bless that LL. What a lovely thing to do! :xmassign: to Lilt and Jelly :xmastree: xx

  • OH you poor thing. :( glad you haven't got it any more at least... Big hugs!!

I am overjoyed about the injection. I see normal life in my future!! :D

As for my LL... just wow. He is a lovely guy. I have seen people like PennyWisePoundStupid have so many problems as a landlord, and I think mine has had similar issues in the past. It isn't the best building, but the flat is lovely, and it is very competitively priced, considering it has a nice kitchen, laminate flooring, tiled bathroom etc. Some of the other flats in here are awful and £100 more a month. So ever since I moved in, I have let him know promptly of incidents or issues. In return he has had them fixed quickly. I've always let him or workmen have easy access and every time he has been here, the flat has been as it normally is, clean and mostly tidy bearing in mind the 2 year old whirlwind. I've decorated various rooms, repainted others in magnolia or white when they needed cleaning up. I always let him know or ask him, & just emailed him to let him have a picture of Jelly's room, & ask him if I can replace the carpet. And when NP0wer offered to replace the boiler because it, and I fitted their criteria, I checked with him and had it fitted, saving him a fortune as the old one was condemned when they got here :rotfl: so it wouldn't have passed this month anyway!! Not a bad tenant, like he says ;)
