Just been to sainsbugs where I got 3 bagsof choc coins for £2 - to use in the fabric advent calendar I'll make for dd. In their free-from section, they also had dairy-free foil-wrapped 'coins' for about £1.59. Wondered if a few of those and a box hidden in a different place each day would work for Jelly?

  • Thanks guys...

Peaty it doesn't take much for her to make me fill up with tears. She can be an angel but sometimes she is so like me it is frightening. The same stance, evil stare, willing to hurt herself to make you mad, cutting off her nose to spite her face... She can be an evil little drama queen. Just like her mummy. Gawd help her future fella. :rotfl: I hope like me she shrugs off the bad attitude and gets somewhere in life.

Apple - yes defo doing the coins but looking at a gorgeous wall hanging - kind of like bunting but 24 little stockings, decorated up! Only £10 though I am wondering about how long it will last...

I have just spent 2 hours in the bath after telling a lovely person to take more time for herself and realising that on my day off I have helped cook dinner, fetched the small from nursery, washed 2 sets of pots, cooked breakfast and lunch and helped get madam into bed on what is meant to be daddys day.

I read an ENTIRE BOOK!!! A 445 page book. And yes I genuinely read it all. Very good book! And I had bubbles. My skin will hate me for weeks but I don't care. I smell like waterlilies (apparently).

And now I am going to sleep. Because even though I still feel rubbish and my headache is even now twitching at my temple I am going to work tomorrow. Sucker. On my day for the phones and post/franking too. :/

    Night guys

    /luffles as Peaty says. <3

  • Hi Zlilty. Poor you, hope you are better soon. Ah, methinks the only way to get out of chores is to get out I.e. Go out for the day. But I know there's lots of reasons why not. Are you sure as well that you aren't doing these things because you know you'll do them better? Or quicker?

OHs have a great method of doing something badly, or late just waiting for you to leap in and do it - very clever. Then before you know it, it's accepted practice for you to do it. I have to make myself not do things, otherwise I become the donkey mule packhorse. It's awful because you want to keep things tidy. However, my DH now knows there is no point moaning at me if something's not done. Next step is to get him actually doing it without askin - Lol as if that will ever come. It's such a shame they took that 'how to train your husband documentary' off.

    Hello lovely ladies!

This comes to you courtesy of my phone. Of a brand that rhymes with "my phone" and likes to get very creative with words. So as I type 'don't' it recommends the word brontosaurus... :rotfl: That said if the post is littered with mistakes it is probably just me ;)

I'm feeling a lot better. Continued my mindfulness into this evening and after work and a catch up on my laptop I have now had a nice shower and ACV rinsed my hair. A little coconut oil through the ends and it might look less horrifying for not being cut in 2 months (more like 3 thinking about it!) - I do it rarely as apple knows it doesn't fare well if you use it each time. Does wonders for my hair in this super hard water area I live in though.

Work was fine today but very hard going as I didn't feel tip top and my back was struggling! Meeting with boss man to go over crucial figures in the morning for my reports so I am genuinely in my pjs and ready for bed now! Gotta be on fire and ready for any question at 8:30am sharp! :(

Nearly bought £150 of perfume today for £139 plus £30 in boots points. Then realised the part of the deal I wanted hadn't worked and I haven't shopped in boots all year because it is so expensive... So I clicked the page shut!

Currently have £4400 total sat in the savings accounts which is fab news. Some is earmarked for Xmas and other bits but all of it is mine!! :D

Have a giant box in my bedroom. :( my princess and the pea brain (pea brain :rotfl:) has reared its ugly head. But it holds 2 huge xmas pressies for Jellytot from sis/me so I need to live with it for a while!

Hopefuljoy I try my best to be supportive. So many people on here astound me and relegate my puny first world problems to the back of the line. They bring me positivity in spades and I like to give back to exceptional people. I am glad you like my thread. There are always tea and biscuits on in Gib & SuperSaver1000's threads when I pop in. Like heading home... And GP's thread is like going to my mamas house. Good food and good company plus food for thought in every way!

Off to sleep guys. So far 2 NSD's snagged in October. Tomorrow makes it a hat trick! Xx

  • Hey Lilt, well done on the NSDs so far! I need to catch you up or else my budget will fail miserably this month! I hope you are feeling better soon and that work was ok today? I practice Mindfulness alongside meditating and I think it's the only thing that has helped keep me sane over the last few years :rotfl:

  • Hello Lilt! I'm glad you had a productive day. I'll check out Gib and Supersavers threads as well. My kindle fire keeps doing weird predictive text things as well. It is very cheap to buy and I love amazon prime as it saves a fortune in dvds and postage but it's autocorrect is carp!

I'm so pleased that you didn't succumb to the lure of the perfumes. I recently replaced an expensive rose perfume with an M&s rose one for only 6 pounds instead of forty. And there's another thing! I can't get the kindle to do pound signs!!

    Have a wonderful weekend!!

  • Ladies, howdy doody!!

My frugality was rewarded today. My lack of spending in Boots yesterday was rewarded with #1 the Xmas vouchers pack through the door from Boots... £5 off a bottle of perfume, plus 450 extra points... Only to be trumped by one of my besties. His wife is due a baby in November and they are still waiting before they buy the last few bits... because she works for Boots!! And has a double discount for 2 weeks soon!! This equals, 45% off Boots products, and 25% off other brands!!! Means getting the aftershave Him wants for £39 ;) for the largest bottle!! *smug* :o

Hope you just reminded me of my favourite perfume! A Bodyshop one, japanese cherry blossom. Only £9 a bottle :rotfl: Beats Issey Miyake at £60ish a bottle... although I still love my Issey. About the Kindle... Apparently you have to tap the numeric/symbol button TWICE to get the £ sign in the menu. :) HTH!!

Today is NSD #3!! I have a fat list of weird things that I need to buy tomorrow next to me though. Pearl Barley and toothpaste, a shower curtain and christmas cards, milk, bread & passata... :rotfl:

Am off to get myself some sleepies. Lotsa huggles xx

  • I'm a bit late to the talk on advent calendars but while I was in Sainsburys yesterday I was in the free from section and they had a free from everything advent calendar - it was £2.69 which I didn't think was too bad considering the price of some.

This was a tiny Sainsburys so the bigger stores might have more selection.

Hello EE of course you are not too late! Only too late if is is past 1st December, and if it is so then I really overslept :rotfl:. I have been stalking my local Sainsbugs and so far they have not produced any but their free from range is pitiful, although better by far than Asda. I will have a mooch over to the big Sainsbugs one day at work and have a look. Will need to put some shrapnel in my pocket and leave my purse behind though as the usual mode of operation is to go in starving at the beginning of my lunch break, spend £20 on absolute carp and then overeat for 3 days at work until it is all gone!

Today after 4 whole NSD's in a row, I had to go out. I had planned to do it in the morning free from Jelly whilst she has her 3 hours at nursery but needs must as I only had 2 nappies left. Despite me trying very hard on and off, she still has no liking for the potty. I've tried her on a little seat on the loo instead and still no dice. It doesn't seem to have clicked in her head yet. I will keep trying as the nappies were a crippling £24 today. Out of a £34 spend in Asda for my weeks shopping... Ridiculous somewhat? Anyways juggling a small child, 2 boxes of nappies, a bag from Wilko's which included 2x £1.85 draught excluders amongst other bits and bobs AND the shopping, made for a hard walk home.

I also went into the card shop where Him works on my way past and picked up a load of Xmas cards/birthday cards for the jaunt up to Notts. Will need all of my Xmas shop done before I head up there as daddy is bringing us home in the car, saving us £56 in train fares and also allowing us to bring a table & chair set for Jellytot home, plus take away the old stuff like the highchair & all the presents for Xmas. The cards cost £7.73 so he tells me. Not bad for 3 bday cards, and 8 family Christmas cards. 15% discount helped :)

Got some bargain Xmas presents today. Lady who lives nearby (but is moving :(:(:() had some yankee candles for sale. Big brand new ones and medium sized brand new. Prices on them were £24.99 and £16.99... she gave me 2 for £15. Also brand new mascaras which my sister is obsessed with... £12.99 in the shops, £3 each for me, or 2 for £5. :D Canny shopping. I don't ask where she gets the stuff and she doesn't tell. :rotfl: - it isn't stolen, that much I know! She just has a lot of friends!

Off to buy my mum some face cream she would like, to round out a spendy but budgeted day. Forgot the shower curtain so mine is currently soaking in a mix of bleach and wash powder.. :)

I'm sure I shall be around.. :) xx
