  • Hello Lilt .. just thought I should tell you I am trying your record bath stint tonight with a good book. Might not last the same length but I have spent all day cleaning Mumsy's kitchen (noon to 8pm ) so need a very long soak... love reading about your adventures with Jelly and especially love seeing that savings account get bigger and bigger!!! Big hugs lovely lady!

  • Hi Lilty

Hope you had a good weekend?

I've had a lovely one and even managed a relaxing bubble bath yesterday (I treated myself to some half price spa products yesterday - bath soak and oil spray) as I felt very achey all weekend - flu jab?

I bought a shower curtain from Sainsbugs a few weeks ago - it was £2.50 reduced from about £10 - probably all gone now but worth a look if you are in there anyway.

Bit of a Spendy one getting ready for little uns birthday this month :rotfl: where have the years gone? I remember the potty training well - I know nappies are expensive but I was urged to try it too early by nursery and ended up with lots of washing from 'accidents' so switched back. Have you tried the pull ups if they still do them? Nappies that they pull up? She could wear them at home maybe?

Right just going to do a quick sweep of the forum before work. I've done virtually all of my homework - yayy :T - and feeling very positive. Not a bad sleep - not a great one, but okay and Im definitely losing the haggard look that came with the stress thank goodness. Only thing is I've put on a few pounds which is a great shame. I'm going to try cutting down for 21 days to get back to normal.

Have a great Monday Lilty, don't get wet in the rain 🌂🌂🌂🌂🌂☔️☔️☔️☁️☁️☁️⛅️⛅️⛅️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

I have just successfully insulted a lovely person on another thread. Calling he a she.. Whoopsie :o

Lucky I am tempted to keep the 'Summer Scoop' one for myself as they smell good enough to eat but MiL is practically obsessed with smelly things for the house. One of the reasons FiL spends most of his time outside now :rotfl: - for smokers, the house sure doesn't smell like it! I know she loves them and that they are usually outside her budget so I thought why not as so cheap!! I have zero eyelashes without mascara, so tend to use that and a dollop of concealer for the bags under my eyes and that is about as far as it goes. Sister meanwhile usually buys them 4-5 at a time... Love her. She is also a giant fan of a bargain so will be made up to discover that her present cost so little :D

Kat wow earning your keep I see!! I love spending that much time really taking things apart and putting them back together. That moment halfway through when you look around and it is worse than when you started by ten x. :rotfl: - The savings accounts really starting to look good. I ignore the FD Saver for the most part. That is just a £300 'bill' each month and whilesoever I keep thinking that, it will keep being saved!!

Speaking of bargains and savings, just managed to find a new (untested!) website in America, willing to send me my usual face cream for half the price. Since it is what my mum wants for Xmas and I am nearly out, I have had a google, found the website which helpfully gave me free shipping on orders over £20 and then 15% off my first order. Thus, my usual £21 cream + P+P actually cost £12.52 each for me and mums present!! Alright it won't get here til I am probably up there, but have made mums the delivery address, so will be able to wrap and give hers to her, and then take mine home :)

Well pleased! Now to see if I can't find something the nephew would like too whilst its a spend day and all. Ooh and reminds me to buy sisters other present! https://www.toastedglass.com - Drinking jars. £14.50 (see I am not a complete cheapskate) for an incredible handmade gift plus postage. Done!

*************WHOOPS!!!!! Posted this last night but forgot to hit the post button... :o:o:o

Hello lovely SS, yes the aches are likely from the horrible flu jab. Mine came on the next morning after I had it and stayed for a couple of days. Still, if it stops me ending up with bronchitis I am happy!!

I will have a look in Sainsbugs! Wilko's were £6.50 for really ugly styles, Mr A was £6.50 to £10. I got the last one from Home Barg but I can't get there this month so I just have to suck it up. The curtain didn't come out any better. Hate the damp smell so I will just have to find another one and pay for it whatever the cost!!

I haven't yet got into spending a lot of money on Jellytot for Bdays and Xmas. Feel lucky that I have such an extended family that my side end up buying so much it isn't worth me going overboard. Him's mum doesn't take suggestions well (she says she will buy something then it doesn't appear) whereas my family all get what they are asked (and often sent catalogue numbers for!) so I try and make sure all the stuff that will be used aplenty comes from family. This year she has a large roll out piano mat to jump on, and really lovely pram to go with it from me, along with a couple of books. Mum got her the doll to go with it, and a wooden bed, and is sewing some mini duvets and pillows. Sister got the Crayola quick flip easel, and Bro and SIL got a pink scooter with helmet and knee/elbow pads :) spoiled she is!! :D My spends are only £55 :)

Got to sort out my xmas spends on my sig. They went up a bit yesterday!! As did groceries, though only a little.

SS as for nappies, I usually get the Pampers 'baby-dry' for all day and night wear. They are a lot sturdier than other ones we have tried, and Jelly goes through a lot of drinks during the day so it saves me money on nappy changes every half an hour  as hey last for 2-3 hours/2-3 bottles of water! I will get her the pull ups when she starts paying attention to the potty properly. I used to have a friend whose little girl is about 4 weeks younger and she pushed her when she was just under 2 to start with the potty training. Lots of accidents. She was always the 'first' to do anything, and there always seemed to be an atmosphere of competition which I just didn't want to fall in with. That and the £20-30 spend a week she forced on me just to see her, when the kids would likely be jammed into prams while we drank expensive coffee and tried to keep them quiet. She didn't understand why I would want to save, but then her husband earned 5x my household income, alone, so she didn't need to. Better off ex friends. Less pressure on me now for sure!

Off to get some toast and start cooking my next soup :) Froze some portions of roasted butternut squash and sweet potato soup. Today is another vegetable scotch broth and maybe the chorizo and butterbean :) xx

  • When my DS1 was little I hung around in a group of 3 Mums and babies all the same age. One little girl talked first and my DS1 walked first, and I distinctly remember the Dad of the 3rd child saying 'you better do something first too' to his one year old . About 5 months later the Mum announced her child was potty trained - at 17 months! This little girl went on to wet (and worse) herself for the next 6 years, including at the lunch table at school when she was about 6 or 7!!

It's just not worth pushing them. They all do it when they are ready Xx

    Thanks Lucky

I have had mum pushing me to do it for a long while as I was trained at just under 2 and little sister was even younger. Thing is my mum was at home with us all day and night every day and night. And we had a large garden she used to chuck us out in, nappy free to roam and the accidents didn't matter out there. I'm in a 2 bed flat, 1st floor, and I work 3 days a week 8-5.30. I am not battling, we will just do it when she is ready.

As people have said, it isn't like it is on your CV is it? :rotfl:

Called BT this morning after repeatedly getting ignored by the person dealing with my complaint. Complained to someone fresh and new, who was stupid as a chocolate teapot. I had to leave to pick up Jelly before he had even got his head around all the mess up's they had made, resulting in them owing me £80 more because they have once again messed up on my account, charging me two more activation charges this month £70 between them, and adding the extra amount on to my annual line rental saver to cancel out the savings it makes me each month... Not to mention still not refunding me the right amount of money from the original muck-ups. Even when he called me back after I had fetched Jellytot, he still hadn't worked out that I didn't owe them an activation charge for them closing my account and restarting it. So I have sent him off with a flea in his ear. He will come back and say he owes me £81.52 and has credited it back onto my account, or else. :A

Got to take the little person for her first dentist visit this afternoon. Quite scared... Lol. She HATES having her teeth brushed for her, but when she does it, she just sucks the toothpaste off and rubs her tongue a bit so it is a necessary screaming fit twice a day.

Hey Lilt, No it doesn't go on your CV:D I was working full time and my DD went to nursery from 2months old. Loads of her buddies were "potty Trained" anywhere from 15 months onwards but their mums used to go home with bag loads of washing from accidents on a daily basis. I kept on with nappies until she was 3 and half years old and my mum was nagging me. I only started training at that point because she was not allowed to move up to the "school room" early (she had started reading) unless she was potty trained. So 2 weeks and one accident later, she was using the mini toilets and moved up. No rush - the later you leave it the easier it will be!!!
BT ----don't get me started  a VERY long story, their fault, but I had to go to the ombudsmen before anything was done about resolving the situation, and because I refused to pay what I didn't owe, they cut my line 2 days before Christmas. Took 9 month to resolve & they never gave my money back - just left it as a credit against future bills (there were no debt issues at the time - it was totally their fault!
    Good Luck

  • Well you can find a list of signs your kid is ready for potty online. I found this excellent "concisework potty training" and they also have this list which helped me greatly find the right time for my 2yo boy.

You don't want to be potty training in the winter! Brrrr! I certainly wouldn't want to be running around half naked! Think dd was 2 and a half ish, but defo no younger, when we started - I get summer hols with her so maybe we did it then. Anyhow, I was told - by my very good friend - not to worry, as by the time she was 21, she would have the hang of it!

When it came to the night time nappies, dd announced that she wanted to be like daddy, ie sleep naked. Just 1 accident was all we had, but that was down to her, not me.

She did go back to nappies briefly when she - and I - caught the flu in the december before she turned 3. But the novelty wore off!

Glad the dentist visit went well. Wish I got a sticker every time I went!

Your soups and broths sound scrumptious! Enjoy!
