I've been trying to think of a suitable reply to your last post re Him and there you go, NinjaSavingKat gets in there and says it way better than I would.

Jellytot tales continue to amuse. I can totally remember having thos conversations when I was a kid with my toys! There was a very annoying doll I had, used to end up in all kinds of scrapes...

It was a bit philisophical compared to my normal jibber jabber so apologies if you choked on any of it.

The above are the bits that matter the most. I need to be sure, for myself and for her. I'm not committed one way or the other. I am just feeling it out. I find that most people I have spoken to who have relationships of 20 years plus have worked hard and fought through tough times to get to where they are now. There seems to be a shifting of opinions in us younger ones, that if it isn't right, right now, then that is it. I am trying my best to make sure I and my little family aren't one of those broken statistics due to lack of effort.

We each find our own path eh. And you're right, we are alike in some ways. Probably why I've followed your journey so avidly! I'm as proud of you as if you were my sister ;)

ETA: sorry hohum, we cross posted there! She has a way with words does Kat ;) sometimes there isn't a whole lot that can be said about my current situation. It will all come out in the wash!!

I think this sums up the whole conversation right there. You could be the making of him. He could look at you and realize what he has got, with your support and will power you might be the driving force that enables him to become an amazing human being. I applaud you for that right there.

I don't want to seem like I am being a downer on him at all, I am not that kind of person - he is clearly a very special man in your's and Jelly's life so whats a little time to see what could come of it.

You can only take the rough with the smooth and if you are as strong as I think you are you will stick true to whats good for you and Jelly...

So big hugs to you for kindly accepting our questions about a very personal situation and answering us so graciously and so composed. Philosophical answers is required when something so precious is being discussed.

I love this little quote. It makes me all warm inside! :p
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".

    Hey guysies!

I don't want to butt in, but I have a rule that if someone makes me more happy than sad for a reasonable amount of time then I should probably keep them in my life.

    It sometimes works for me.

Peaty!! There is no butting in!! You're my other 'sister' ;) and your rule sounds like a sound plan. It depends sometimes on the depth of happiness versus the depth of unhappiness though.

You're all welcome to ask questions. One of my best friends fiance left her when she was 20 weeks pregnant with their second child. The first is 3 months younger than jellytot. I spent a whole bunch of time giving her all the tools I thought necessary to do the things that I didn't do. I learned and used my experience to make hers a bit easier. There is nothing about this relationship I haven't shared somewhere down the line. She is an incredibly strong person and I am so proud of what she has achieved. It's just funny that just as in my own story, when I got back on my feet suddenly he wanted back in; when she was going out, seeing old friends, decorating the house, giving her bedroom a makeover etc (all whilst pregnant and still working and looking after their son I might add!) - suddenly he wanted back in too. Their story appears to be going in the right direction now. He has been given a much needed kick up the bum and realised just precisely what he has.

I'm not all that sure that Him has figured that one out yet. He is currently sulking because he broached the subject of moving back in when I asked him to make sure his mobile contract was at the right address for him. I stated quite clearly that I thought we had agreed he needed to get a job with a minimum of 16 hours before we even thought about that. Instant child. I despair but I persevere. One day my ducks will be orderly. ;)

I am going to pop into my challenge diary because I've been a good girl today. And then I am going to bed, no later than the dot of 9:30. I keep waking at 6:30 regardless of the fact that my alarm is set for 7am. I plan on getting up when I wake tomorrow, but I need the sleep (and the coffee!)

    Night all! xx

    Peepo!!

I am sneaking on in my work lunch break. I should be by the microwave hovering over my 'tuscan bean' soup. (Chilli without the meat basically.) But the computer calls. I try not to sit here too much on my rare lunch breaks as I end up working, getting the phone, replying to emails etc! I have to admit I have done some of those things, but I have also done a few other bits more 'me' related so I am happy :D

I am trying not to spend today but I have a ridiculously sweet tooth, and a hankering for a takeaway. My planned dinner choice involved the lettuce I could only rescue a chunk of last night so it will be lettuce free if I do go ahead... It shouldn't matter, I really need to get a grip. There is enough food in the cupboards and fridge/freezer to feed me for months. Laziness is not a reason not to cook. Nor is a lack of one variety of green leaf!

I went to bed at 9:30 but I didn't get to sleep for ages. :( Still I feel a bit better than I would have, had I done my usual and gone to bed at 11:30 then not got to sleep for ages! I was awake at 5:50 thanks to jelly waking up. She had soaked through her nappy and clothes and bedding; cue me banging it all in the washer this morning at 60 degrees! I did make sure to put all the towels etc in though to get the benefit of the rare heat so I hope it isn't too much of a waste.

Off to check royal mail to see what I can see about my NPower paperwork for the boiler. Once done, I will whizz my soup through the microwave, eat it standing at superspeed then back to my desk to work! Not healthy but you know, needs must. I already used to fit 5 days work into my 3 day week. Now it is 5 days worth of two jobs in 3 days!

    Hey ho all.

I was excellent and made it through week 2 with NO takeaway!! I did however take 1 lunch break out of 3 at work and substitute chocolate for real food. I ate a 200g bar of dairy milk in 2 days :( And then started on a pack of caramel buttons. Bad lilt.

What do I have to update you with? Jellytot bounced clean off the sofa head first into the corner of the radiator. Cue blood, tears, germolene, calpol & a nice soothing walk along the cliffs. The irony is that she went to bed immediately after the walk at 8pm (late for her usual bedtime but she had a nap earlier!) and slept straight through the current witching hour of 4 am and the other witching hour of 6am! I got a lovely lie in til 8 and only woke up once before that :D this morning the chunk taken out of her scalp has scabbed over nicely and isn't red or inflamed. She didn't grump when I washed her hair and brushed it so I am guessing it is fine.

I JUST REALISED I HAVE BETTER NEWS THAN CRUSTY HEAD BLOOD!!!!! *proud mummy moment* - jelly used the potty!!!! And now everytime she sees it she proclaims "weewee!! good girl, well done!!" :rotfl: ... She hasn't repeated it... in the potty anyway. She has repeated it on her quilt cover and on the living room floor and in the hallway.. :D lol. Bah, we will get there eventually.

In Him news, I am being 'courted' is the only way to describe it. Since our last discussion on addresses he has indeed changed his mobile phone address & has been much better. More like he used to be way back when. I don't count chickens when the eggs are in the fridge, but it is nice.

Have a boiler blokey coming between 8-12 tomorrow. Place your bets on what time he will turn up! Hoping that he takes one look at my limescaled, clunky, gently dripping into the sink boiler and condemns it and says that it should be an easy job to fit me a free new one. Cross all of your fingers. I had to put said boiler on today for a couple of hours to dry some washing. I had pegged it out on airers in my bedroom with the windows wide open when in the midst of glorious sunshine, thunder started rumbling. 15 minutes later all sunshine was gone, and the heavens opened so hard that I had to completely close the windows as even fractionally open meant wet floors! We even got a 10 minute powercut, so thank goodness I had already microwaved jelly's bottle and snuggled it into her duvet. With upsy daisy gone, she went straight to bed and was asleep before finishing the bottle! So I sucked it up and put the heating on anyways. Of course it would be jeans and tracksuit bottoms and work clothes. I put all the heaviest stuff on the radiators and left the rest airing. Most of it is dry and the stuff that is airing doesn't smell bad and won't as the window is open a crack :)

Got my MIL & FIL over tomorrow at about 3pm. As they are coming late I kinda railroaded myself into offering dinner. They are bringing pudding.. :) I defrosted 2 pack of 10 caramelised red onion sausages from the freezer today. Him is coming after work so I am feeding me, and Jelly as usual, plus 3 adults. Hope there will be enough sausages left for my dinner Tuesday too. FIL has a big appetite.

Best get myself to sleep. I will be up far too soon trying to clean and make the house fresh ready for mr boiler.

    Night all xx

Way too early to be this awake. The witching hour is alive and kicking. Jellytot has had a nappy change and a bottle but nothing is convincing her that the bright yellow ball currently throwing rays against her window means it's still bedtime... I've had to confiscate her drumsticks as she started repeatedly hammering the cymbal then her bedroom door... :/

Still at least I've got the couple of pots made late last night soaking in the sink and the washing is on. :( give up and get up with her? Or stay in bed while she trashes her bedroom?

I opted for bedroom trashing for all of 5 minutes this morning before going to check on Jelly. Too late. "What a mess!" as she delights in telling me. Serves me right. Spent all day with a headache until finally my second lot of super strength codeine plus a nap when Jelly fell asleep on the floor kicked it to the kerb.

Had in laws and Him over for dinner today. They couldn't make it for their usual lunchtime so arrived at about 20 t0 4. Him had finished work at 2 so came over a bit before. I made lovely bangers and mash, with tenderstem broccoli and cheesy oven cooked mash. (boil potatoes and mash with salt, pepper, butter and milk, then slap it out onto a baking tray in big heaps. Cover in cheese and bake until melted and golden brown. Also made red onion gravy which was lush. MIL brought over homemade banoffee pie which was epic. 2 huge slices left in the fridge which I am fighting the urge to go and eat... Lol. They left at 7:30, half an hour after Jellys latest bedtime. I popped her straight in bed but she literally did not go to sleep until 9 :( too tired to sleep, poor mite.

I have discovered what I already know. I spend too much in supermarkets and I have enough food in my cupboard to feed me for months, plus I waste and throw away far too much (soggy peppers and cherry tomatoes in the fridge, potatoes growing shoots in the basket) - I appear to have an irrational fear of going hungry. We had a powercut yesterday for all of 10 minutes. I didn't even get hungry, let alone run out of any necessities. I need to remind myself I am not in a third world country and I will not starve if my shelves aren't bending under the weight of food I don't need.

Had boiler man round this morning. Jelly found him fascinating. 'Whoozat?!' 'BOILERMANNNNNNNNNNNN' - he tells me the electrics have gone on my boiler and that the 2 leaks I have on it are not normal. It wouldn't pass a gas safety check with those leaks he tells me. You mean like the 4 safety checks I have had since I moved in, when the leak was already in full flow? Good job other boiler man. This, plus the fact that it is 13 years old means I can has a shiny new one for free in the next 6-8 weeks! Between that and the new oven being delivered on Friday, I am super happy with my energy efficiency for the forthcoming winter!

£117.07 out of my £180 challenge budget for food. Not to mention the illegal spend in the form of a present for my nephew for his last primary school report. I am going to be eating cupboard food....

Off to sleep. Looking forward to dropping jellytot at nursery tomorrow and chilling out in my lovely fresh bedsheets all day on my laptop til it is time to fetch her. Oooh, just thought. I have a lunch date with Him tomorrow. He is coming to meet me at a local restaurant and treating me to lunch! :D

    TTFN!
