The spreadsheet has been updated for the last time in 2014. There will be one last update done on Sunday to pick up anyone who posts over the next few days.

MuddyWhiteChicken - your post came in after I had done the updates so I will pick that one up on the 4th. :)

A big thank you to everyone who has said thanks for my efforts during the year - it's very much appreciated and it's been my pleasure to play a small part in maintaining the challenge and motivation for everyone during the year.

All that's left for me to say is to wish you and yours a happy, healthy and overpaying New Year!

Get those posts in over the next few days for any last overpayments in the 2014 Mortgage Free Wannabe Challenge.....

Happy New Year to you all!
Thanks to JCL for all your hard work this year!
Sorry it's late but here's my update for December 2014:
£125 for December taking total to £2000, just met our target
Credit card bills are pretty big and we always pay off in full so this December and January won't have much money left over. It's not all Christmas shopping, I had two weekends away, home insurance was paid in full, our wedding anniversary and a new vacuum cleaner for me :) however we have kept back £500 to pay off the remainder of a 0% finance deal. Wouldn't bother except we will be applying for a new mortgage soon and the £49 a month will count against our affordability ;)
Goals for 2015, rediscover my frugal self, particularly with grocery shopping! Move house! Ensure there is plenty of fun things planned so we always have something to look forward to :)
2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.
    MFW OPd 2014 £2000 2013 £9700 2012 £2848.39 2011 £2509.58 2010 £11000 2009 £112002008 £4939 :D
Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013 :)

The final update of the 2014 Mortgage Free Wannabe challenge has been done.

Here's a look at the year in numbers:
    • 117 MSE members signed-up and posted an overpayment during the year
    • We collectively overpaid a massive £715,293 (against an overall target of £771,655)

Well done to everyone who took part during the year. You have all made great strides towards being mortgage free. Congratulations also to those of you who achieved the ultimate goal of paying off your mortgage in 2014.
