Welcome to the Mortgage Free Wannabe thread for 2015 :D

This thread is for anybody on the journey to mortgage freedom to set targets and report progress during 2015, whether you're a brand new mortgage free wannabe or on the final stretch of the long slog. The challenge runs until 31st December 2015, and you can join or change your target at any time up until that point.

Links to previous challenges are here
To join, please post on the thread and i'll allocate you a number - if you want to keep your number from this year then let me know, I won't start allocating numbers for a few days yet. After that, it will be first come, first served. Then to provide updates or change your target, just post on the thread or fill in the form here.

Update 26/08: the form doesn't seem to work well for me, most of the time I just see a blank spreadsheet although occasionally it seems to work, so i'd prefer updates via the thread if possible. If i've missed out an update you submitted via the form then please let me know

A few requests from me to make keeping track easier:

  • When providing updates, please include your MFW2015 number and the month you are updating (this is hopefully required on the form).
  • Multiple overpayments in a month are fine, but it will really help me if you keep a running total when reporting updates (e.g. ...another OP of £200, which makes £600 in total for April...)
  • It's fine to miss a month or two and then provide updates for several months in one go, but please make it clear what you want allocating where.
Updates on the thread can be as long or short as you like :)

I'll try and update the spreadsheet weekly, although I juggle very busy work and family lives so may occasionally be gone for longer. I will 'thank' your post when I've updated the spreadsheet, so you can see that it's been added. And I'm bound to make the occasional mistake, so if I've missed your update then just let me know on the thread or PM me.

See how we are all doing on the big MFW 2015 spreadsheet here

  • Thanks for taking over the reigns Lomcevak, I'd like to join again and my target is £12000. May need adjusting if career change plans come off, but no harm in aiming high to start...

I'm #111 and would like to keep it if possible, but not too precious about it if not.

  • Hi I am going to aim for £6000 again this year. Got a few things needing done to the house which will make this a difficult year (again) but I find being part of this thread really pushes me so thank you!

I was number 128 last year and would like to keep it if possible.
    Thanks again.

Hi I have always lurked but am going to raise my head above the pulpit and aim for £2500 op in 2015.

(hopefully a regular op of £206 a month plus the difference to make it a rounded figure!) would love to add more in dribs and drabs but £206 alone is a big amount for us given our circumstances.

Many thanks lomcevak for your work in starting this.

Next stop: house repairs, holiday fund, replace our very old cars, more financial security/early retirement savings.🤞
