I dunno either CalicoCat...I luvs sleep, probably even more than I luvs ice cream, so I know what I would do. :rotfl:
Seriously though, you need to be on the ball for your shift, so maybe try to have a good sleep, and pop in on your pals before you go to work. It'll wake them up and get you some much needed ice cream before you go to work.

Sending big hugs, I'll not go into my family stuff but there is just my son and I Christmas day, I have tried and tried to keep connections open, but to no avail. I haven't read all the replies but you can be sure there will be many of us on here on Christmas day, why not start a thread for us ;-)Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

Lol......it really is a hard one to call......
Sleeping and watching tv in bed with coffee and cream and nibbles....or out to eat and socialise non-stop.
I'm going to have to see what happens with an actual suggestion of me going later rather than swerving around it light heartedly...without looking rude.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Looks like the children won't be with their dad long enough on New Year's Day for it to be worthwhile volunteering at the homeless centre, but (having got a bee in my bonnet about wanting to do something useful), yesterday I went down and dropped off a huge bag of woolly hats, scarves, gloves, socks and a couple of coats that we don't need. They were really appreciative. I moan about not being able to afford to have the heating on as much as I'd like, but at least we're indoors.0

Well that was really good of you MummyBobble. It does feel good to do something for others.
My good deed for yesterday was to pick a couple at random and give them my £5 off £35 voucher in M&S...I fairly bounced out of the store on the rush of good feeling. :A
Well, it's been a busy and unexpectedly sociable 7 days for me :T - met an old friend for lunch last Saturday, met up with my walking group for a Xmas walk and buffet afterwards last Sunday, then met the lovely Calicocat on Wednesday evening (no chance of two MSE'rs having nothing to talk about is there? :rotfl:), and a work Xmas lunch yesterday. Around all that, I've been in touch with far flung friend regularly, and with the lady in my village that I'm going out to lunch with tomorrow. So! Not a moment to myself really, and I'm feeling much more part of the world again :T
Ok....trying to keep a tally of how my quest for increasing my friends base is going - I met a new walker in my group last Sunday. We had a good old natter as we walked, lots in common including travelling. She suggested I consider starting a book club in my village. I know someone on this thread earlier suggested similar. I was all enthusiastic until I investigated and realised it'll be hard work. Idea is on the back burner for now...
. But I may consider joining an existing book club near my work. Is anyone on here in a book club...am I wrong in my impression that it will feel like homework...?
Regardless, it was lovely chatting with a new friend. And lovely also to meet up with members of the walking group that I've not seen for so long.
Calicocat - we met up for a nice meal and also found we had a huge amount in common, and chatted for hours. Put the world to rights and had a good laugh. I hope we've both found good friends in each other.
Another MSE'r has been in touch and we've exchanged nos to maybe get in touch after Xmas.
Old friends - progress?...hmmmm?....yes. I think so. A pleasant lunch last Saturday with one who I feel could have offered more support this year, but, I am trying to follow the wisdom of far flung friend who has advised me to try to accept that people disappoint...that doesn't mean I have to turn my back on them. Try to accept that not everyone is as perfect as wot I am :rotfl:
And another old friend at the Xmas lunch yesterday...again, am taking this one slowly and carefully due to past upset, but we had a pleasant time, and have exchanged mobile nos and may meet up after Xmas.
So, with all this going on, I decided to give myself a breakand not go on the Meetup walk today. The weather hasn't been good, and I'm pretty tired now, so I'm having a pottering day instead.
Started as I mean to go on though...got dressed and had a walk around my village, chatted with dog walkers, checked my lottie (it's still there :rotfl:), bought a newspaper (haven't had time to do that for months and months), and have had a lazy cooked breakfast. I'm very tired but quite content. The sky is black now, and it's throwing it down, so I think I made the right decision .
Am going to do my housework, and then enjoy a lovely soaky bubble bath with a glass of wine, and have a very lazy evening in front of the TV with some lush Xmas cake (sadly not hm). I also want to watch the Alex Polizzi's Christmas Fix program on iplayer as that looked full of tips for NEXT Christmas...am too lazy to do it all now for this Christmas :rotfl:
Have a lovely day, everyone. What are you all up to? Ready for next week??

Hello Lavenderbees.
Wow you have been busy and all good. Sounds like you and Calicoat had a great night. It's an ideal day for relaxing today. Not nice at all. Looks like its a day for good deeds. I was shopping this morning and they were collecting food for a food bank so filled a bag for that. Im all ready for Xmas. I don't need much myself as out both days.
Was wondering how you were doing and glad to see you had posted. Off to meet my daughter now. Take care.0 -
Aah, Im single again this Christmas, but im really looking forward to the New Year more. I have joined a dating site again, the last guy wasn't for me so I ended that last month. But im really looking forward to meeting a few new ones in the New Year, which are being arranged as I type.
Its not the only Christmas ive been on my own. But its only one day in a whole year. I pamper myself and have dvds to watch and friends are texting me too. Some of which are single as well now.
So I take the opportunity to chill out on the day then spend the other days visiting friends and shopping. Its what YOU make of the day and some people put far too much pressure on themselves.
Merry Christmas whatever you do :-) x0 -
URmmmmmmm.........are you trying to say I talk a lot...?!?.....lol.
I have to say your day today sounds lovely and relaxing. I battled the food shop yesterday and was grid-logged in traffic for over half an hour...utter purgatory. Managed to get out of the shop without any physical injuries though so always a bonus.
This thread gets you thinking doesn't it, I think we can tend to think everyone else is going to be having a better time than us. I was talking with someone today who's two kids will be spending their xmas with their girlfriends families, so he will be on his own all day. I'll bet there are loads of people alone that day.
Xmas for me is now only mum and myself when i'm not at work, long gone are the big family lunches, people are either not speaking, divorces have fragmented things and people, and others just no longer want to celebrate.
Then there is my friend who hates it, and has to spend it with people she doesn't really like half the time let alone love, she's finding it very hard this year to keep a lid on it.
anyhow that's a bit downbeat isn't it so I shall end on a more positive note.....Lavanderbees your social diary looks better than mine. You are a very pro-active and positive person. We shall meet up again soon and have another bash at sorting the world.
I am off to have a quick bite with a friend to exchange gifts this evening , and probably manage to get myself another food-baby.
Tomorrow I will have to flee round the house again cleaning before the dust inspector (mum) arrives monday.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Nice to catch up with you all on this thread. You do realise this was the shortest day, we're over the hump now, and its going to get slowly better:T
Have spent a very quiet and lazy day today, due to unpleasant weather blowing rainy gale I've not been out. Have decided to do last bit of shopping on Monday at local s*p*rmarket rather than go into busy town to S'bugs, cant stand the thought of all the traffic, hustle and bustle etc.
You have motivated me to bake a Christmassy cake though, will be sending a virtual slice to all of you to enjoy with cup of tea, (wish it could be real!)0
