Re Abbey Super Monthly Saver Issue 2 - what counts as "a new investment product" - do savings accounts count? If so, any ideas re a really low opening balance a/c as a passport to the 10%? I put £20 into an esaver to access their 8% account a yaer or so ago.0

It looks like what it says, an investment product not a savings product. Avoid!0

As usual, Ray Wolfe is quite right.
The first issue of this account could be opened with a savings account but the second issue can only be opened with an investment product, which is why I had moved it into the "Requires another product (Insurance or Investment)" section. I would avoid any of the accounts in that section unless you really want the product on offer (in which case the regular saver is a nice little bonus). I would not take out one of those products just to get the regular saver.
Unfortunately, last night's system maintenance did not restore the first thread of this post (it only managed to dig up a really, really old version of the first post). For the moment I have put a link there to the current posts on page 10. I am considering what to do - I shall probably move post 195 into post 1 and then have links from there into posts 196-198.
Edit 8.17pm: Okay, I have edited everything so that the up-to-date first post is in post 1 with links to posts 195 onwards. If you look at post 1 you will see that it all makes sense. The HTML editor is starting to do weird things like make things underlined without me asking it too and changing fonts at random so I am going to stop editing right now.0 -
Last week on the METRO paper I saw an advert for a new 'limited edition' regular saver that I remember looked very good and was better than the one currently listed on this website. I can't find that newspaper anymore and looking online hasn't proved much helpful.
Has anyone else seen that advert? Do you know which bank it's with?
Thanks
PS. Great thread - it should be a sticky.0 -
Just a thought SS2 ... would it not make more sense to start a completely new thread? More work for you, I know but easier than updating two sections of the old.
True, all the contributions from others would fall to oblivion but the main purpose - a one stop shop- would be fulfilled.
... easy for me to say, but might make your life easier.
Do it or don't do it, you know how grateful we all are for your superhuman efforts ...
Cheers

That sounds like a good idea. I am just checking out the practicalities of doing this and will make a decision by this weekend. I'm glad to see people are finding this thread useful - it has been viewed almost 20,000 times in less than 6 months. Hopefully it also stops people asking the same questions again and again!
As ever, if any of you find a good, new regular saver account then please feel free to post the information here, or post it in a separate thread and then post a link here.0 -
I have re-posted the information in a new thread.
The new thread is located here:
Regular Savings Accounts: The Best Currently Available List!
Please adjust any bookmarks and / or thread subscriptions accordingly.
I wanted to post this message last night but unfortunately I got locked out of the website and forums because I posted too many messages in a short period of time.
Please do not post any messages in this (old) thread - please go to the new thread instead. Moderator Crabman kindly agreed to close off this old thread so that we do not have two active threads. You will still be able to see all the old posts in this old thread, you just will not be able to post anything here - you will need to go to the new thread. I apologize for any inconvenience caused (and I shall miss havnig a thread with over 20,000 hits and 14 thank you messages on the first post) but I think re-posting the info in a new thread was a good idea.0
