Does anyine know what happens when you reach £20000 in the Yorkshire BS a.c ?
Would you have to close it ? (Terms & conditions don't seem to be on the YBS website)0 -
No. You take some money out and build it up again, or you reduce your contributions before you reach the limit.0

RayWolfe is quite right. I was advised (in my local branch) that when you reach £20k, withdraw £120 and then make 12 monthly payments of £10 in to the account. Repeat in 12 months time when you reach £20k again.

neither me or mr wolfe believe that Yorkshire BS RS will be the top paying account for long enough for the 20000 limit to be a concern.
if it is and Yorkshire BS wish to continue receiving significant levels of monthly receipts from its RS savers all it would need to do is close the existing issue to new account openings and launch a new reg saver account with slightly different terms thus enabling those who are near the 20000 limit to continue making significant regular payments into the society.0 -
True.
YBS have a reputation to maintain. (The one that means that they never, ever stay at the top of savings rates for long.)
I could suggest that it's the Yorkshire reputation for meanness, but YORKSHIREBOY would be down on me like a ton of bricks ... ;-)0 -
Have updated the first post of this thread to include further information on the new First Direct regular savings account from 1st November. I have to go right now but I will also update the first post to include the Chelsea BS and Newcastle BS regular savings accounts which unfortunately both require stock market investments to be made.0

Wow! If you can get better than the best MS rates, would you consider sharing that info with us?0
