  • post office get them from HMSO. So netmums prob copy them from there after all post office still pay out a lot of the benefit/pension payments.
The Post Office make benefit payments just like a bank-when they receive them, in the days of benefit books I think it was at the discretion of the postmaster.

Yes I agree but unlike like the traditional Banks they are informed by DWP of when payments will be made into accounts so they display this. I would trust this information because if it is wrong they have to face all the very irate customers at the counter in the post office

I agree with you but as you have probably already seen the .GOV site only mentions earlier payments in N.I for the 27th, if the Post Office (which covers the whole of the UK - in N.I) is displaying earlier payments for this date then it must be referring to the situation in N.I - if you see what I mean!

I think the .GOV site is the one to go by if you live in England, however that site does say (if you click on the link) that tax credits due on 27th will be paid on the 24th. Bit of a mess really.

Yes it is a mess but tax credits are not paid by DWP and are always a day or so early on bank holidays DWP payments are not unless the are due on the bank holiday they are paid on the normal day.

I have just re read the notice in our local post office I live next door

and it says child benefit and other tax credits due on the 27th December will be paid on the 24 th December.

It also says pensions inc pension credit and other allowances due on the 27th December will be paid As Normal.
  • If what you say is correct (and I've no doubt that's what you've been told) then .GOV and netmums/Post Office must all be wrong.
  • Tax credits due on 27th are to be in the bank on the 24th.

It says on the tax credits website, DWP may pay slightly different.
  • My Job Centre advisor told me that I'd be paid on the 24th (as opposed to the 27th) for Job Seekers...

Now worried she got it wrong, seeing as everywhere else is saying the 27th... Gah.

It depends where you live. If it's in Northern Ireland then JSA due on the 27th should be paid on the 23rd. If you live in GB then your JSA should be paid on the normal date, ie the 27th.

    See https://www.gov.uk/how-to-have-your-benefits-paid
  • Been told two different dates...23 or 24 if due 25 and 26

Taken from the tax credit website:

    Bank holiday payment dates
From time to time, your normal payment day may fall on the same day as a bank holiday. This means you'll get your payment a few days earlier.
It doesn't matter whether you live in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. If there's a bank holiday anywhere in the United Kingdom, you'll still get your payment earlier.
The table below tells you which payments will be made early, and when you should get paid.

    December
    Due-25 Dec 2013 (Christmas Day)
    Will be paid-24 Dec 2013

    Due-26 Dec 2013 (Boxing Day)
    Will be paid-24 Dec 2013

    Due-27 Dec 2013
    Will be paid-24 Dec 2013

    January
    Due-1 Jan 2014 (New Year's Day)
    Will be paid-31 Dec 2013

    Due-2 Jan 2014
    Will be paid-31 Dec 2013
