I agree it isn't whole heartedly clear.... I think the pay dates for post office payments are different to when they are paid into bank accounts...
I do think they would be best sticking to the last possible date to pay closest to pay day, as many can't budget and get themselves in a right muddle.... but thats only my personal opinion.... but I understand for certain people at this time of year due to reduced bus services etc that early payment is useful x

Re-reading the .GOV page again I think payments due on the 27th will NOT be paid ANY earlier unless you live in N.I. But certainly don't think they'll be paid on 23rd.

Really only people with payments due 24th, 25th and 26th December or 1st January (in England) will get them paid early.

Where mumsnet get the info from or the Post Office I would like to know.

I think it is only if you are due payment on the 30th December AND you live in Northern Ireland that you will recieve payment earlier, for one due 30th December. My understanding from over the years that it can be collected from a post office from the 23rd December and will be paid into a bank account approx 27th December this year(sometimes 30th December as bank accounts are automated for bank opening days)

That why I tried to highlight the different payment dates for regional variations, as family in Scotland are paid different to family in Northern Ireland. Most banks or post offices should be able to advise you better based on your area.

What does it matter anyway if your payment falls on a bank holiday it will be early if it doesn't then it will be paid as normal.

It doesn't.Apart from to this who are asking because to them it does!

My dad asks every year, only in case he 'gets snowed in':rotfl::rotfl: that'll never happen

I think tax credits due Christmas week,at any point, generally go in early. So tax credits due on 27th (tax credits use any uk bank holiday) normally go in early but not dwp benefits

  • I don't think that any payments due 27th will be paid any earlier and will go in as normal. My bank rbs are open and said it will be processed a normal! Unfair that northern Ireland are getting it early but heyho nothing we can do bout it.

    Merry Christmas!

    Hi,

I'm confused, my Dads pension is due on the 27th December, I read that he would get it on the 24th, but the link above says he will receive it on the 27th, can anyone clarify? I saw the info on the netmums site.

Are they really going to make a pensioner wait till after Christmas?

So he will get it the day it is due.

I'm with natwest and know for a fact that my tax credits, due on 27th,will be in early. They always are and I always check when I keep tabs on my bill payments (which are also generally early)
