And welcome aboard :santa2:

Great idea,
Nikki :hello:the rules we make for our challenges are our own, but it's quite common for unavoidable costs to be excluded if they are budgeted for. I have a fuel budget so that doesn't count as a spend if I fill up within that budget, however to keep me on the straight and narrow, avoidable car use - like to the shops when I could walk - counts as a spend. Also wondered it would be cheaper for you to buy a weekly or monthly season ticket?

As others have mentioned, it really is YOUR choice as to what you class as a 'spend' for this Challenge. For example:- some people have a Grocery Budget & providing they don't spend more than they have allowed themselves for that day/week/month, buying the essentials doesn't count as a spendy. Then again, others may try to do a weekly fill-up so they don't have to go near a shop for another 6 days, & count the shopping day as a spendy. (I fear I may be more hindrance than help in explaining this)
The way I think of it is...if you need to spend money to get your usual day done, it's an Essential so doesn't count for this Challenge. If it's parking/petrol/fares for medical reasons, it's an Essential. If it's prescription/dental/recommended by a professional (eg something you need to help you do whatever it is you do all day.. work shoes, reference book, bevelled trowel..I dunno! but you've been told it will help you!!), it is an Essential... But YOU need to decide what YOUR 'rules' will be.
Don't fret it; it's really only for a bit of fun so nothing is cast in stone; you don't have to tell anyone your rules; just pop in for a catch-up & a confession over coffee & a custard cream from time to timeKate_fixing_it wrote: »....

I appear to be well and truly stalled on #2. It's been crazy busy and something new and unexpected has cropped up every single day so despite my preparations nothing has gone to plan. However, in new developments, I used "no" as a complete sentence yesterday when I turned down a last minute invitation that sounded fun but would have been too stressful logistically (there was a "thank you very much" in there too). I felt very proud of myself as usually I'd be tying myself in knots trying to get it all done.
Right, must get ready for the day. Have a good one! :snow_laug
