I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I'm a bit OCD about getting things clear in advance as I do seem to have an astonishing capacity to get things in a muddle
So could anyone tell me how we go about banking all our potted dosh later in the year? Will the bank just take all my £2/£1 coins loose or do I need to put them in bags? I've read elsewhere on this thread that I need to put the smaller coins into bags and take them to the bank a bit at a time, is that right?
Thanks for your help
You need to check with your bank. I am with Natwest and they have a machine (which I broke the first time I used it!:o) where you just put all your coins into it. The machine then counts the money.

It certainly is Crimson
I gave up booking with the tour operators long ago as once they have your money they just didn't give a monkeys, we always got rubbish rooms in horrible hotels (that the travel agent assured me she had stayed at and were 'wonderful'). This was at a time before trip advisor was around . . I now book everything myself and it usually ends up about a grand cheaper, the flights are better and the hotel is how I expect it to be
Older but not wiser it depends on your bank, ive personally never found a bank that will take lots of change that hasn't been pre bagged and in complete amounts. My barclays branch will normally take all I take in, as have natwest, the local post office will only take what they need, but as I know them very well, I try to take my bags in before the clerk does the change requirement list which helps us both out

hi everyone - decided to check in
I have been lurking - getting inspiration from you all. I am still potting - my tin feels about a quarter full
I try put a £1 coin in every week as well as bits and pieces left in my purse. I call it my weekly tin payment!
I cant wait for next year when I can bank my ebay money and other bits and bobs for something other than debt.
Hope everyone has a good weekend0 -
LAM2011, I have just noticed your signature, you are absolutely amazing reducing the debt! Fantastically well done!

The rain stopped so I decided to do my bit to support the village and attend the Strawberry Tea at the local Church. I only had £4 left and the entrance fee was £3.50 which meant that I could also buy a plant from the plant stall there (all going to church funds). Anyway, I struggled down the very overgrown footpath to get there (my jeans were sodden) and the lady on the door took my £4, dropped it into her tin and decisively closed the lid! I didn't have the heart to ask for my 50p change
Well, I queued for a cup of tea and sat in a pew at the back of the church to drink it. I made eye contact and smiled but nobody spoke to me. I have never felt so alone as in that beautiful church. I left after 10 minutes, I didn't even have the heart to have my strawberry tea. Now I remember why I stopped going to church on a Sunday
Sorry to hijack the thread again, dear Sue, but I needed to talk to someone.....Thank heavens for friends in the box. God Bless you all xSealed Pot Challenge #012

Little_sweetie - sending you a virtual hug - sounds like you need it, how awful.
We are having a weekend away this weekend and fortunately the sun is shining. We brought most of our food with us as we are staying in a static caravan for the first time, but treated ourselves to fish and chips tonight (sadly were disappointing and I couldn't help thinking about all the "real" food I could have bought with the money). On the plus side I got a lovely £2 coin in the change so that will be going straight in the pot when I get home tomorrow.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0 -
Aw, thank you, alwayshappy the hug is much appreciated
I do hope you enjoy your holiday. Shame about the fish and chips though, the quality can vary so much....at least you have had sun! Enjoy the rest of your hols xSealed Pot Challenge #012
