Purse emptied today and all change potted. "Spare" money into envelope for banking for cc payments, then tomorrow I withdraw the cash for the week. This system seems to work for me.

Hicks - I hope you get to the bottom of it. Do you know how much is missing? Do you think the person who took it is trying to replace it all?

I can approximate over the three tins about £80. I had £40 in £2 coins back inmid December and put in 2 a week. ...no idea re £1 and silver. Could work out from on here but I really don't want to.

The mil is back and is clearly annoyed about something so may have to wait till tomorrow.

I kept saying that I had put in 6 £2 coins this month alone and so that I should have more than 7 coins. Referenced dates from on here etc so maybe putting in coins is a way to throw me or question myself or maybe they are just trying to pay it nack gradually. I just wish they would own up to it.

I agree with mossy about how to approach this but the fact that MiL has suggested you 'watch your bag' indicates to me that she knows someone in the house is light fingered. 2 x £2 coins appearing in your pot suggests either the thief knows he's been rumbled and will try to put some back or that your BF is trying to make up for your loss. I don't think I would put temptation in their way and just bank any savings though. Do you have anywhere at work that you could lock away a small tin? It could still be banked monthly. As you and your OH have been together a long time is there any chance you could find your own little place to live? Just a thought..... :(

Hey little sweetie, thanks for the reassurance. I noticed the mil and fil have a safe for wallets and purse too... Well it is just me, oh and his brother here and oh went and spoke to his brother when I told him initially so the money could have only come from 1of 2 people. I have opened an savings account today and will take my bagged up money there Monday. My staff or clients go through my drawers at work (prob cos occasionally if they get peckish I tell them to have a rummage-oops) so prob wouldn't want a tin in there. Oh and I just moved in here after giving up our home of 6yrs. I was off sick for 3months and had no money and ll put the rent up (despite not dealing with issues for yrs); I gave up on everything. We want a mortgage too, 13yrs private renting has been a nightmare. I'm going to the council Monday and discussing options; if my manager agrees to a bit of toil.

£1.01 potted for me today. I needed to buy some wrapping paper or it would have been £2!

So sorry to hear that someone's been at your cash, Hicks. Be careful if you approach the MIL...just in case it's not her! Let her know, in an indirect way that you know darn well what's happened and aren't happy about it, then even though it must be hard, try to get passed it and move on as it won't do you any good to worry about it. Could you invest in a [STRIKE]safe too[/STRIKE] [Edit] I mean cash box (from A*gos)? If you do, make sure only YOU know the combination! Huge {{{hugs}}} for you. Go with mossy's approach.

You've made an excellent start, mrsdalloway.
4 very large bills (£800 gone out wages straight away). Then the cat hobbled home covered in blood, his pad was cut right through and his claw was damaged. Poor guys paw looked like it belonged to a tiger it was that swollen:(. Another bill, but a very reasonable £47.

I didn't touch my sealed pot, :A, and have managed to keep £10 from my monthly shopping budget, I used the leftover kids lunch money to get the kids treats this week.

So £10 in the pot for me.

Ah, such a shame about your cat, claireyfairy, but very pleased to hear about you not having to raid your pot. All in all, you've done brilliantly.

Well done to Lily, jakes-mum, no one will mess with her!

Meowhouse - that's fantastic news - I am so VERY happy for you!!!! :j Very odd about the rib, but as you say, why worry about it. Have a wonderful weekend and celebrate the news.

Hopefully (fingers and toes crossed) I will be joining you on 17 March. Only 4 more sessions of radiotherapy to go - woohoo :)

On the potting front - I am slowly and consistently potting little amounts each day and putting some change aside for the niece and nephew. They are all signed up for not smashing open their pots until November. 8 year old niece gets excited each time money goes in her pot.........November is such a long way off when you are 8 years old.....bless her :)

I've got the lot crossed for you too, Nell!!!! I've made a not of the date too. :) Bless your Niece, she and your Nephew are going to be two very smart savers when they're older. It's great to know they're so committed. It's wonderful to hear about the MacMillan Nurses and how they've been so wonderful to you, later on if you do something for them, why not do it through "Just giving" DH & I would happily give. :D

That's marvellous savings, little_sweetie!!! :T You've done you both proud in saving so many precious £££s.

Isn't that what we're supposed to do with days off, 32b3? It's having days like that which help us recharge the old batteries so be happy. I've not done much more today, though most of my sitting time has been in studying French, a job to walk around. :wall:

Oh very good, lhead123!! You're looking after his health as well as your money!! :rotfl:

    Hi littleangels3 and great savings.

It's so good to see you, lost, and my what some potting!!

Your little treasure is saving so very well, ETO...or someone is for him! ;) Good for you.

Have a restful...or otherwise evening, folk, and a really lovely Sunday! :D

Good advice from Mossy re the pot situation - can't begin to imagine how awful it must be to live with somebody you can't trust - you would be watching your back all the time which is no way to live. Will be keeping my fingers crossed (and toes) for you Nell, will be fantastic when its your turn to share the good news!!! Have been and got a few bits and pieces which has meant another £4.87 for the pot. In a way I look and think - I can't afford to pot all this, then on the other hand, we are now in March and I've managed so far....
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

    Hey

Thanks for the advice everyone. Followed mossy's advice and slipped into conversation. The mil didn't seem that surprised but has cleared a hidey hole for my tins. Quite annoyed by the lack of interest. Think she has an idea who it is but was adamant it wasn't the boiler man.... heard having words with someone but no idea who... will have to put it behind me as I'm not going to get an admission let alone my money back.

I will look for safer savings storage thanks sue

  • OK, first decent pot for me today for a few weeks. It's DD's birthday today and went to build a bear (planned as birthday treat). Had a coupon so, this and some other loose change going in the pot - £4.81. This includes probably my first £2 coin going in!
