Gutted to hear a hollow tin today. Some kind person has taken most of my gold coins and damaged the coin slots. Really upset that someone has done this. I thought I was going nuts when my ornaments seemed in different positions but alas they were being moved to access my money tins

Really sorry to hear what's happened Hickles. That is so low. Hopefully you can get to the bottom of it and you have some support from the mil. Must be awful now looking and questioning who it could be.
Congrats on your news meowhouse
Soozyfloozy - welcome along. Please have a look at page one with all the information and advice about this challenge. And please post as little or as often as works for you. But the main thing is to remember to pop back in November to declare your savings.
Hope everyone is well.

A £ for me today, pot feeling lovely and heavy now, I know I would be absolutely devastated if I thought anyone had been within a foot of it - I tell me husband not to even look at it, let alone touch it!!I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

Found out online how to get coins out and it is actually really easy. ... I can see now how the damage inside was done. Majority of money declared this month has gone so going to adjust my budget and put some money into bank to make up some of the loss will have to bag up and bank what I have hidden in my suitcase.
I grew up with a thief which led to awful punishment for me and siblings as no one owned up. Hate that I am stuck with a thief once again. Just remembered the in laws have a safe.... also realised that the mil is always telling me to watch where I leave my bag; pfffft. Just hope the mil is a bit more supportive; the oh is really confused by the situation and thinks I should just forget about it :S

Feeling for you hickles
Did you actually have a boiler chap come around during the time it went missing? If so, perhaps you can broach the subject of the missing money with the MIL by asking if she's ever noticed anything go missing after a boiler service etc etc? That way you aren't immediately implying it is one of her family that has interfered with your tin and taken the money, but at the same time you are letting her know that something funny has gone on. Then you can take it from there....
Congratulations to your DD on the orange belt jakes-mum. :T
Woo hoo!! Meowhouse!! That's brilliant news!! :j It will be your turn soon Nell!!
Hi Soozyfloozy you are more than welcome to join our motley crew of potters! When Sue is next on she'll give you a lovely SPC number which you'll need to pop on your signature (it really helps Sparky when he adds up the totals in November). In the meantime if you have any questions just ask or even better check out page 1 of this thread which has pretty much every thing you need to know about the Sealed Pot Challenge. Enjoy potting and if you have the time pop on here to let us know how you're doing and to keep yourself motivated!! Warning it can get a little addictive!!
DD's 50p sold for £6.50 in the end. She is very pleased with that and I've got the money ready for her to take to Church tomorrow. She grew it from 50p to £6.50 in a week, that's pretty good going!! :T

Hi mossy
The mil isn't back yet but will approach it as above. We also have thatchers here but don't think they have had access to the house.
Someone has put £2 coins (2) into the tin since yesterday. .. shone torch insida to see if hole had been widened or just dipped and it sounded different and on a quick count two coins had been added.....

Purse emptied today and all change potted. "Spare" money into envelope for banking for cc payments, then tomorrow I withdraw the cash for the week. This system seems to work for me.
Hicks - I hope you get to the bottom of it. Do you know how much is missing? Do you think the person who took it is trying to replace it all?2015 £2 Saver #82

I agree with mossy about how to approach this but the fact that MiL has suggested you 'watch your bag' indicates to me that she knows someone in the house is light fingered. 2 x £2 coins appearing in your pot suggests either the thief knows he's been rumbled and will try to put some back or that your BF is trying to make up for your loss. I don't think I would put temptation in their way and just bank any savings though. Do you have anywhere at work that you could lock away a small tin? It could still be banked monthly. As you and your OH have been together a long time is there any chance you could find your own little place to live? Just a thought.....
Great news about the 50p coin mossy :T
