I've never done any challenges before but love the idea.
Of course you can join us, Ihead123. A very warm welcome to you. :grinheart Have fun saving, posting and enjoying the banter. You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 1of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. PS. We always empty our pots and declare our savings near the end of November, please make a note of this year's date: 27th Nov.
Please also subscribe to the thread by clicking on "Thread Tools" (lower green bar) and clicking "Subscribe to this thread"...or you may lose us! To put your SPC No on, go to "Quick Links" (right side of top green bar), click and then click on "Edit Signature" and you're away.
*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.
That's fantastic news, Loveactually, VERY well done!!!
I hope you had some good finds as well as spends, 32b3. Oooops, just seen your post, sorry, but at least it's savings.mumof3plusoh wrote:Is it ok to add the £100 to my signature?
The other thing I want to ask. Is it ok to bank extra money from work when you work extra hours. I have been given some temporary extra hours but not sure how long for. Could be a couple of weeks or up to the full half term.
Yes, that'll be ok, mumof3plusoh, good luck to you.crimson.addict wrote:I'm considering going to our n@twest to see if they have one of those machines. If they have I'm going to open an account, pay in my spc money every year then withdraw it straight away. I HATE getting dirty smelly hands counting money.... Although saying that, I think I'd want to count the money anyway in case the machine swizzed me lol.
Go for it then, Ruth. I too detest the dirty smelly hands with counting, but I don't think it would be so exciting if I didn't.
You've done well, Hope78, and I hope you're a lot better now.
That's the best way to view it, Emily, as the song goes "Que sera sera whatever will be will be, the future's not ours to see..que sera sera" We can't alter it so it's no good worrying. I hope he soon gets himself sorted out with another job.
Good for you, fishcakes, and lovely to see you.
Keep em coming, Buffy!!lynnejk wrote:Thanks for the kind comments. DH is struggling but think he's down to under 10 a day though he's pretty shtoom about it. Ah well. He's banned himself from smoking anywhere near me, in the car or in the house so I can't say more than that
Had a bit of a downer today - pouring with rain all day; my oven finally died and no pennies to replace at moment; I quite badly burnt my fingers and then - of course - I REALLY WANTED A CIGARETTE !!(didn't have one though). Sorry that's my moan over - must get out more
If you can get by at at a time like that, Lynne, then you're doing really well...apart from that - would it make it any better - no!!! Your DH is still doing well depending how many he used to smoke. It's so good that he keeps right away from you when he's got one, we've had so many on the quitting threads who didn't give a monkey's about their Wives!! Can you believe it. The lower he gets the easier he'll find it. Also, you might tell him that men usually find it a lot easier due to not having the hormonal (TOTM) problems like we do.Betsie2010 wrote:Sue's going to be cross!!
I opened my sealed pot - just to see if I had a rare 50p in it (I didn't!!)
But counted up and have £20 so, as the pot was getting very heavy, I opened a savings account with F*rst D*rect and have paid in it to there. I won't touch the money til Nov, but it looks quite cool:cool:
Anything that didn't make up to a whole £ I have re potted so haven't started on empty
*Slopes off !*
You're not wrong with the first bit, Betsie!!! Still, it's safe and sound and I see you've put the £20 on your siggy, so well done. Now you're left with empty pot syndrome! I do wish you'd had a rare 50p though, truly.
I'm so pleased you all had such a great day, braddy, with many savings being made too! Well sorted!siju wrote:I'm so glad to be taking part in this challenge. I have always saved for Christmas - church Xmas club when I was young, school Xmas club when my kids were young and over the past few years I've just put it into a savings account, but I must say this is the most fun I've ever had saving :beer:It's very interesting reading other stories and it gives me the incentive to keep at it! Thanks everyone :j

Thanks Sue-UU.
Think he was smoking about 40 a day as he always used to buy his own ciggies. I used to smoke rollies so different I suppose.
Made me laugh about the TOTM as I'm sure from the way some of them behave/spend time in bathroom/gossip there is not as much difference as they would like to have us believe :rotfl:
Can't believe it's nearly MARCH so only a month to longer evenings and hopefully some warm sunshine (sorry I digress)
Potted my Tuesday £1 and looking forward to a count up at the week-end and starting to bank some monies :j
Hope you all have a wonderful wombling Wednesday
