I think my guardian angel is either having a laugh or he pots all his money and that's all he had on him.
    :haha[1]:

Aw,lustyrusty, thank you-that is the biggest laugh I have had all day.Priceless.

As mentioned yesterday,it was my baby's 5th birthday today. It was a lovely day,and she had a fabulous time, but for alot of the time I was feeling abit bleugh.I can only put it down to the fact that my baby is 5 !!!It's a bit of "I will never have a 5yo again. After 4 children I will never (go to a toddler group again......need to visit mothercare again......sing nursery rhymes again.....spend days at home with a pre-schooler again....)
    Just a bit hmmmm.

Also as mentioned yesterday,I had gone out to buy birthday presents. Then last night we went out for a birthday meal, came home,it was about 1.30am when I started wrapping presents .Went to bed, couldn't sleep then suddenly realised I didn't remember wrapping a Spongebob Squarepants duvet cover.Had a quick feel of the wrapped pressies-didn't seem to be there.Wearing dressing gown and a pair of house-sghoes,went to the car to see if it had fallen out of the bag-not there.

This morning I sent OH out in the rain to double check :rotfl:.
Not there.I could not for the life of me think where it might be-I had bought it at the last shop I had been to,loaded bag of pressies in the car, returned trolley to shop and got £1 trolley token back, drove home-it's not as if I had a chance to leave it in another shop, etc.Duvet was listed on my receipt,so knew I had bought it.

So when shops opened this morning,I phoned and explained to the young lad what had happened.Told him I couldn't understand how this had happened blah blah blah.
He said "That's ok,bring in your receipt,we will give you another one ":)

So I did.And even this evening, everywhere I look in the house,I check that the original duvet cover I had bought is not hiding. How embarrasssing would that be,returning the duplicate duvet cover, apologising for being so woolly-headed,after having found the original :o

So I think I might pot £16.99-the cost of the cover I was given to
replace the one that, somehow, never seems to have made it home

*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.

#355...... Sounds like a good target to me :D

Got tips from work today so that's a massive £16.36 in the kitty

So, WishICouldFindMySlippers, do you mean you'd like £355 added to your name and No as your Target? It sounds good to me. What a lovely lot of tips you've potted, well done! :D

Lovely to see you, Vicky, I thought you'd got fed up with us. ;) You're one of many who only gets chance to pot small amounts, BUT they all add it up and will make a big difference at the end of the year! Every little helps! :)

You did really well, ETO, and have a princely sum as a reward. :j
I put all my notes into my ISA and keep track in my signature, if that helps. I'd be too tempted to buy expensive duvet covers if it was in my pot!! :rotfl::rotfl:

:silenced: No, I won't say a word, not ONE word, but.......claireyfairy, so very much could be said in response - not by me you understand. :rotfl: A good idea though and another for you to ponder over, Meowhouse.

    Yay, good potting, superrhinos! :j

Well done, Maisie, on freeing hubby from change that would after all - only weigh him down. :rotfl:

Ah, there you are, Meowhouse, magical Sunday indeed! *rolls eyes* The only magical time I could think of was opening day....but Sunday! Not to worry. Good luck with the car, keep a tight budget and save, save, save! BTW, Hoooooraaayyyy on having saved soooooo much so soon!!!! :j:T:jBrilliant news and so pleased for you with the car!! One other thing: Here's a gold star for the nice welcome :staradmin, but "you may want to read the post on page 1?? (Please read the 1st post on page 1).

Sue, you are right re the tow bar, Renault (who I bought the bloomin car from!) wanted £550 to fit one  like I didn't give them enough already!!

Not a tiny bit surprised given how long ago we had ours done, jakes-mum, you done good! ;) Great news about your Mum's cake, but NOT making one for 30 kids??! Don't blame you at all.

It seems aaagggges since I have posted, but I look forward to reading this thread every night (there are 3 threads I follow daily, and this is one.
With full fridge and cupboards, kids not nagging for money, school not asking for money, kid's clubs paid-up.....I haven't been spending too much this month.
Today, however, was a different story. My baby girl turns 5 tomorrow :shock !!Feels like the end of an era, having 4 children ,and I will never have a pre-schooler again- it's a bit sad.
However,I did go birthday shopping today. I took cash out with me, spent here and there all afternoon. Towards the end I was deliberately paying with notes that would give me lots of lovely coins for my pots. So tonight potted £14.54 change from today, including lots of £1 and £2 coins, and £1.30 loose change found around the house during the week.
Thank you everyone for such a fun thread. And thank you Sue for looking after us all.

Such lovely words, Saver-upper, thank you so much, though it's a pleasure. It is sad when it comes to the time when the youngest one is the last to do things that all the rest have been doing for a good while, savour all that they do because so soon it all goes by. My DD's having the same sadness with her last of 5. I though 2 was bad enough, but with 3 or more it has to be sad. Enjoy her Birthday tomorrow and give her a hug for me please. :A Whooops got carried away there! Yes, mmmm, well done on the potting!! :D

What were you doing up at that time, skilly! <<<"perhaps I could grow stuff and sale it and pot it :rotfl:">>> You need to pot it first, but doing so and THEN potting the gains is even better. D'you mean flowers or veggies? How about shrub cuttings too? I have a gorgeous Sarcocca Confusa (Christmas Box) with beautiful scent that I've taken no end of cuttings from, they're costly in nurseries hence a good return for you. ;) Let me know what you have in mind and I'll have a ponder. Meanwhile, get some sleep tonight!!

You're doing all the right things, redbooties, so little wonder your pot's filling up fast. Keep it going.

I hope you're soon feeling a lot better, mumof3plusoh. Take care of yourself.

Just an idea, little_sweetie, but if you're talking tea times, then in future how about an odd "party tea"; with T having the 5 it's not always easy catering for 7 extra who like different things, but one of the kiddies said "I love party teas" one day and it all goes down a treat from homemade potato salad, sliced ham, egg/sardine sandwiches, sausage rolls or sausages on sticks, crisps, pizza, cheese and pineapple, Tuc biscuits right through to desserts/gateaux, it's all done and everyone catered for at much less than separate meals. BTW, don't feel too guilty at what you gave the charity, as T would say "if everyone gave that amount......." and it's true. Oh how that little deaf blind Elliott on TV (Sense charity) pulls at my heart strings....and wins! :D Well, why not, mine are healthy thank Heavens.

Hi Observer and well done with not letting the littlies hide from you. Bloomin weather! Tis sure as heck wet down here in Somerset. :(

    Excellent saving, katsta1, you also princess-angelica!! :j:j

Marvellous news with your DS, mumof3plusoh!!!! So pleased you're feeling better.

lustyrusty, are you sure your Guardian Angel isn't just another SPCer?!!
Have a good Monday, potters,and.......please keep safe on the roads!! :D

PLEASE NOTE everyone: It's time to change your numbers! You'll see there are LOADS less names and numbers now, but it's useless having folk on the list that no longer save with us. However, if old members return then you'll be made very welcome and can still have your name added and be given a new number. :D Please change numbers ASAP folks.

Good morning all, managed to pot £17 over the weekend... £4 in £2 coins, £3 in £1 coins and a crisp £10 note.. It was the sons 7th birthday party and I took £30 with us as there was 10 deffo coming and 3 didn't reply so if they turned up I had to pay £7.99 each extra...anyway one who didn't reply turned up and one who replied didn't turn up so still ended up with 10.. Only money I spent was for my mum and dads cups of teas, they made the effort of coming to the party so I thought it was the least I could do lol.. Then we went to b & m's so my son could spend his birthday money. of all things he could have chosen he went for a Gum ball machine, ahh to be a kid again. So only a few pennies spent in there on my bfs coffee and bits for work so another lovely chunk went into the pot.. Sorry for the long post but last year I didn't post must so I am going to make sure I post atleast twice a week big or litte.. How is everyone else getting on? I need to change £10 some time this week to get some change for DS1 football lesson and school meal at some point so looking forward to the change ha x

    Morning all :D

No potting yesterday as it was a NSD and none today either if I achieve my aim of getting my fourteenth NSD of the month  January has been a really motivational month for me and I've noticed that we're using less food (in terms of waste), spending less money and I'm definitely saving more thanks to this challenge :D

    £2.80 potted yesterday

I'm still not smoking :j shocked and suprised with myself but feeling great :T
No idea of how much I'm saving though as hubby buys tabacoo and we share so will have to find out how much he spends on it and halve it for my amount saved.

Thanks sue for all your words of wisdom :A

    Good Morning All,

I am continuing to pot on a more or less daily basis :), but had a bit of a splurge yesterday and took a lovely friend out for lunch. She has been (and continues to be) like a second mum to me and has looked after me a lot over the last 6 months so it was time I treated her.
