  • I've had a very spendy day:mad:, it was budgeted for so I shouldn't be too mad, I needed new glasses etc from that fab Swedish shop with the meatballs, but obviously needed; yes needed some smelly candles:p. my OH asked if I left any on the shelf, cheeky sod. I did tell him I'd happily put them back but at 95p a shot I was probably better with them than my usual £20 Yankee one. ;)

On the saving potting side I'm a bit chuffed with myself. I have saved £83.63 from my weekly food budget, OH said I must of done it wrong as we have eaten very well all week. At the beginning of the month I batched cooked a huge amount of food, he helped too (mainly chopping).:D Every January we embark on the usual healthy eating escapade, we basically turn veggie for a month but end up feeling so much better that this usually lasts till about March. Well how cheap are veg at everyone's favourite supermarket (Ald!), and my cupboard was bursting with tinned beans, lentil and pasta etc. So we have been eating mainly from the freezer all week, with me cooking and freezing extra as I go.

I might reduce my food budget, but I don't know because the less I spend the more I pot.

Morning Potters, I'm away for the weekend in France so not potting for me, though still following the thread...... will be back to saving (and potting) with a vengeance from tomorrow. Already I can see a shift in my spending. Usually when we go away we stop en route for a coffee and cake (as you do) and eat out at every opportunity. This time, dragged the electric cool box out of the loft, made a flask of coffee, took pain au choc and sarnis, grapes, bananas etc in it, and sat on the tunnel and ate those. OH was very impressed. Had lunch out - well nobody very hungry so OH and I shared a coffee and some chips - very exciting!! Mum is with us too and when we got back to the hotel we all changed to go out (as usual) BUT, we were tired and staying in a nice hotel with a kettle and microwave in our room SO, went back to Carrefour, picked up a cooked chicken, cooked little roastie potatoes, buns, butter, salad, lovely cakes, bottle of wine, paper plates, napkins, cutlery (haha), admittedly spent £38 BUT we ate like kings, have enough for lunch today - got extra buns and more meat and everyone was full and happy. Had a lovely evening with no rushing around and felt really good. I will be doing that again, but must remember plates and cutlery!! Will be doing a flask again for the return journey - Happy Days. When a round of coffees at certain coffee establishments would be over a tenner for the four of us, just goes to show how much I have wasted in the past.
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!
