  • Hi
Just a quick one from me today as I'm really busy. I've potted £3.50 today which is my change from posting cards & buying milk.
    Happy new year everyone :)

  • Hello can I join in again this year?

I have to admit I do this every year but never declare what I save. I don't open my tin until the second week into December because I want to pot as much as I can as it goes towards my Christmas groceries and luxuries (booze really). I also try to keep a tally of the amount that goes in until it reaches £150 and then I can relax. That didn't happen until December. Last year I managed £167.

This year I am hoping to get £200 and hopefully by the end of November.

    I have £4.76 potted already.
    Barclaycard: £4,217.55/£5 = 0.11% | Tesco £3,810.55/£3,770.55 = 1.05%

    A very safe

    happy and healthy New Year,

    _party_SPCers!! _party_

    Happy new year everyone

A very Happy New Year to you also, slowlyfading!
    Weird question for you...

I just dropped by my brothers flat to say hi and have a cuppa when I spotted a bag of coppers on his mantlepiece...

Cheekily I asked what he'd collected them for and he said it was just rubbish change that he'd collected together while having a proper tidy up and was going to throw it away!!!

I asked if I could have it and he was more than happy to hand it over :)

I just had a count up and there's £2.84!!! Can this be counted towards my SPC because I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that money given can't be included or am I making this up?

In further news, I found a (rather grubby scratched up and only just recognisable) 20p coin on the road outside my house :)

    Thanks,

    MB

So, who hasn't been reading the 1st post of the 1st page then mmm, Monkeyballs?! :naughty: If members have Birthday/Christmas etc gifts of money given to them it's fine to pot it, only inheritances can't be.

For the life of me I can't understand your brother! However, if he really doesn't want to be bothered with it (!!!) then why not benefit from it yourself. :D Of course I suppose you could have counted it then exchanged it for notes and larger coins and....given it back!

Yes, you're alright, MB, but do try to coax him to save where possible.

    Very well done, Cauliflower.

Good for you, bellevie, I hope your little treasure makes it til 12. :A

16p is still good, Gwengeth, it all mounts up.

A very Happy New Year as well, mumof3plusoh! Have a fabulous time! :D

A warm welcome home, moneymanager, and please stick with us to the end of each year from now on. Last year's thread was of course SPC 6 and if you'd like to add last year's to it then please go to the link *here!* and pop your Total on. Thanks a lot. Subscribing to the thread will help too. Don't forget mind, closing date is 27th November.

PLEASE NOTE everyone: It's time to change your numbers! You'll see there are LOADS less names and numbers now, but it's useless having folk on the list that no longer save with us. However, if old members return then you'll be made very welcome and can still have your name added and be given a new number. :D Please change numbers ASAP folks.

If you've already updated your No, please could you kindly make sure it's correct as I made a blunder to start with!

    Very many thanks indeed.
    Sue x

Anyone wishing to join, please just ask, you're more than welcome, it's NEVER too late. There may be a lot of us, but don't be shy, we're a lovely lot, so come on in. :grinheart

Hurray hurray! The tree is down :D took me 2 days but my living room is back to normal and ready for the new suite in 2 weeks :j :j love my Christmas stuff but really want to see the back of it once Christmas is over ;)

Both kids are currently in time out today *sigh* after deciding while out with their gran yesterday that the book shop would be the perfect place to have a game of tag  so if you saw a lanky lad dodging about laughing while a small girl was screaming in frustration because she couldn't catch him, I apologise profusely as they do know better than that!

Who are these people who throw money away?? It amazes me! If you don't want it at least bung it in a charity box :(

Have a lovely £2 coin to go in the pot today and really need to go to town to pay DH credit card bill, a lady on the grabbit board also got me thinking as she posted a link to one of the charities online sale and it got me thinking that I'd never contemplated going into the charity shops to buy gifts! They do a lot of new toys and as I buy for the giving tree each year which has children from birth to late teens I could prob get some nice bits in the sales and would effectively be donating twice! So am going to have a trundle into our local ones to see what's available.

  • I would love to join this, have a small saving pile thing but always dip into it so I'm going to hunt for a suitable pot to stop myself being tempted ;) I think I would like to aim for £200 small amount but as it's only me I feel this is a good amount and I should get pretty close to it :D
    £0.00/£2014 saved!

    Sealed pot member :D

    2014 onwards and upwards!
  • Hiya, please can I join the 2014 challenge. I have an extra large whisky bottle my granddad used to collect coins that I now use.

Emptied it yesterday and banked the £30 I had collected so far for a completely fresh start. Will be putting in anything 'loose' in my purse (up to an including) 20p.

Not setting a target, but will count at the end of Nov 2014.

Peony, are you on medication for your fibro? My doctor put me on an nsaid called arcoxia 60mg which really helps with the pain. It doesn't get rid of the rest of the symptoms but to suffer less pain is wonderful.:D It doesn't suit everyone but suggest it to your dr and hope. That is if you're not already on it.:o Hugs!

Welcome to all our new friends.

    YAY! Thanks Sue :)

I did read it honest! But it was several days ago and couldn't remember where LOL very sorry

I don't understand him either though, it's not like he's loaded... Still, his loss is my gain :)

Thing is, he does save but only Silver with his exact words being "Copper is junk not worth having"

    Cheers,
