Fyggy how lovely. My thoughts keep 250 back to share on treat/clothes, have an emergency fund, look at me today will need to pay a roofer to fix my tiles. Throw rest at debt. You perhaps expected just 250 pounds so forget about the rest.
Thanks Phoenix and Happy New Year to all you working tomorrow night or sleeping off shift work.

    Happy New Year Eve!!!
Well a very good morning to everyone! I cannot believe we are sat here at the end of the year and ready to hit the ground running for 2014! How can I keep you going? - by telling you that feeling debt free is AMAZING and I am not starting another year in debt!!!

In saying that I would love to try and convince Fyggy that as mentioned by Calling14 you were not expecting the extra zero on the end of that cheque so all should go to the debt bar that expected £250. Debts first remember - however everyone deems a gift from someone else in a different way - a lifeline - or a treat. The decision is ultimately yours! :A

I found out the local chinese takewaway is open until 2230 - tempations!
:rotfl:My friend who is a lurker will be coming over with her pyjamas and work gear for NYD - we will sit, eat, plan for the year ahead, reaffirm each others goals and save money and our feet. She was going to go out and has paid £30 for the priviledge but since her Grandfathers death on Christmas Day she wants a quiet evening - so I have gained a NYE buddy...:T

I have been paid today and money will be tranferred today ( EXCITING) !!! :)

MoneyMash I have joined that thread to and yes it sounds like a night in is the way to go for you!

Sounds like there are some epic "staying-in-time" to be had tonight. I can't wait to get home to shower and dress up to sit on the sofa - ha ha!!

Right... gonna pay a few things and update my spreadsheet so I am good to go for the NY.....WHOOP!

    Back later...

Oh and I am one of 5 people in my office of about 50 people... #marieceleste...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Debt-free and Proud!
We are having Chinese Takeaway tonight NSK, treat from FIL. They have kind of invited themselves over on the premise of babysitting despite the fact we don't want to go out because everything is overpriced and overrated for what it is!
Just realised as well as my wall planner I need a calender but I'm going to wait a few weeks when they are reduced!
It's DSs birthday in 3 weeks and we are keeping it a low key affair, will make him a cake and go for a day out walking in the forest, have a few small gifts for him.
Today will be a SFD today for me, I'm not going out because it's so damp and miserable out there! I'll be keeping my feet snuggly in my new slippers.

ergh the weather is sooo horrible :( rain and wind. hope it is better later as will have a 30 min walk to where the party is tonight! going to bring a big bag to go in cloakroom with my trainers in so i can walk in comfort. unfortunately i will prob end up walking home as well as doubt i can get a taxi unless anyone that has booked one is going my way. should be ok as is main roads. although maybe will ring taxi office to see if i can book? normally only about £6 to get home so even if double will only be £12.

so looked in purse and have £60 left of spends. also have £41 spends in bank acc (i keep some in bank to use for online stuff). only going to buy about 2 drinks tonight. we get a welcome drink and one of the girls is getting some bubbly for midnight with the discount we got on the tickets so that should be fine. will drink wine as sure thats probably what the welcome drink is (i cannot mix wine and spirits _pale_). will budget about £20 for drinks (in case i want 3!) and then will get taxi if i can.

hope everyone has a nice night _party__party_ and look forward to starting the new challenge (i will get 20 sfd's if it kills me!)

Morning! Sounds like everyone has their NYE sorted. :) Looking forward to the new year and a challenge!

clippy_girl, I would definitely call a cab company for your trip home and try and book, even if it's main roads! Nothing worse than a long trek home in the dark on sore feet after a night out, even if you've switched to sensible shoes.

fyggy congratulations on your lovely windfall! I would definitely use some for something nice as it's a gift, I feel bad spending 'gift' money on 'boring' things. Although in the long run, getting rid of the debt will be the best gift. :)

NSK thank you for running the challenge, it's been a great month!

See you all in the new year, have a lovely evening!! Happy new year everyone!

    Hi everyone!

Sending lots of hugs to everyone that is ill!

Today is payday, so credit card one will go down from 998.00 to 498.00 :T This time lat year it was over 4k so I cannot wait to clear it next month!

I too will be dressed up to stay in. I was going to cook something special, but I will just have to improvise with what I have as my monthly shop is not due till thursday.

Normally, I would be excited to welcome in the new year 'cos I could say, this year i'm going on holiday. But at 23.59 tonight, I will be hearing the rocky theme tune, eye of the tiger and going for it! I am determined to have no more than 1.5k in debt left by the end of 2014 out of approx 13k! Let the fight commence :T

I'm currently decluttering and chucking stuff out. Good luck everyone and keep going. Have a wonderful new year how ever you'll be spending it and i'll see you on the Janus thread :)

  • So... stupid Oyster (travelcard) payment had been refused on Sunday night to the tune of £199 as my travelcard was registered in London, and my CC in Norn Iron. As it was declined I paid with a debit card ( house deposit ) as I was only being paid today...

It showed on my CC. I paid off CC. Realised I was £199 down having already added the extra back to my house deposit money - it was too late. Taking money back OFF my CC cost me £3.98 -:mad::mad:..(won't make the same mistake again!!)..

You may say leave it there for next month - couldn't do that. MUST start January 2014 with a substantial amount in my account - £1310 there now. Awaiting Mummy's donation - this will hit £1500 (bye bye house deposit ) = £1100... :T:T:T

Overtime has been bidded for already amounting to two 8 hour double time shifts - awaiting responses as we speak-type. Fingers crossed!!!

I want to go home - there is NO need for me to be here today!

7 people watching my vintage / burlesque book ebay joblot sale.
4 people watching my vintage teacup / party eBay sale.

I would like £20 from each. Although everything combined in the books bundle costs WAY more I am thinking about the mental break I will get from being rid of clutter and the desire in wanting to move house with very very minimal things. If I ever endeavour to be more vintage and do it properly I will buy clothes instead of books about clothes. :p

Ohhhhhhhh I smell another declutter / clean out session coming!! Need to stock-take my healthy food cupboard and see whats what. I just need veg I think!

Small amounts each week I think - MEAL PLANNING - is something I am very poor at. I am guilty of going with "what I feel like" although there are some foods I always feel like ( greek / thai ) so can prep around this!

    Hmmmm more musings required.........

:jHAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE:j to everyone! We'll be having a quiet one and I suspect I'll be asleep well before midnight! Ha ha, am such a lightweight! I'm totally a morning person and can't do past-midnight outings - never could!

Am ending the day on a NSD as dd has only just got dressed and the weather's too wet and windy to venture out. Fairy stickers, a Scooby doo film and cbeebies so far!

Have had my extra days confirmed now, so will be doubling up from 2 to 4 days of teaching for 2 terms. Now I know which day will be my day off, I can start to plan shopping and meals and childcare. Gulp! Dh is on his 2nd day in his new job and we're hoping he'll be able to go in for 10am on 1 day, and do the morning school run. Lots to talk about tonight! But it means my mortgage and savings plots should happen for 2014.

I have 17 goals for 2014 - like to be kept busy! Plus joining these great challenges each month. One I nabbed from someone else is 'declutter 365 in 365' and have already done 30 - yippee! Nice to start the new year with some of my hi-tec pencil squares already coloured in!

Have a lovely evening hobbitses / chickadees / nsk devotees!
