Debt Destruction December!!!

Evening all,
Sorry to hear there are so many lurgies going around at the moment! Hope everyone, and their families, have a speedy recovery.
Today has been SFD number 14
Quick query - Tomorrow I have to run an errand/mission for my temping boss all day. This involves paying out for lots of expenses, but they will be repaid to me (plus my wage for the day) on Friday. If I spend nothing else, is this a SFD?
Today, I have been mainly exercising, doing housework and contemplating my financial situation. I have decided that the reason I feel so bad about my debt now, and didn't whilst I was building the debt, was because I never really totalled up all my debts and whilst they were separate in my mind, they didn't seem that bad. Anyway, just a thought.
Hope you have all had good days, I'm hoping for an early night ahead of my mission tomorrow. I'm also staying in tomorrow night for NYE and might even go to sleep before midnightLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Evening... so... right down to the nitty gritty so to speak.
I have 14 out of 15 spend-free days which means no shopping tomorrow so that I can succeed in the spend free days!!
I will be sleeping off a nightshift so no worries there.
Then January hits. I am quite nervous about January as it is the first time, I won't have the safety net there. However, I am also really excited because me and OH are now saving together... so it's almost like our relationship has jumped forward a step. (we have never really shared financial stuff before).
Hopefully I will be back on tomorrow, if not I hope everyone has a fantastic new year.
We are having our usual celebration (blame it on being scots). The plan is to see in midnight here, then walk to my parents, then up to my granny's house where we will spend our night/morning. Normally get home at about 05:00. (the whole family meet up at grannys so it's like a family party. my granny loves it).Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

hi all,
im excited as will pay dad £550 tomorrowthis will take debt to £2950
for nye i am going out to a party. not sure why really as i normally hate going out nye! as i have pit on 5lb in the last week i can no longer fit in my dress as the zip wont go upso wearing the reserve dress. cba tbh and would rather stay in and watch tv now as feeling a bit mehhh due to dress but the ticket was £25 (i know what was i thinking!?)
to cheer myself up after the dress wouldnt do up i just ate half a choc orange. i inhaled it so didnt even enjoy it that mucho well i am starting afresh new years day. not going to drink loads so planning to go to a spin class on nyd at the gym :A
i have a 4 month plan to loose the weight which will roughly tie in with my debt free date. so i think i will be a bit of a hermit till then and then emerge from my cocoon debt free and slim. all money saved from personal spends will be moved to my online saver so when i am debt free i should have enough to buy a nice capsule wardrobe :T:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
We will be staying in tomorrow too. OH is definitelly not allowed out after just going for "a few" last night, texting me at half 5 that he's at a friends and i had to pick him up at12 today. He was well in the bad books, being pregnant and grumpy didn't help. At least he made tea and did the dishes to start making up for it.
I'll also start a wee list today if what i want to achieve in 2014 and will let you know in the January thread.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
I will be sleeping off a nightshift so no worries there. It's most important for me to spend NYE feeling, optimistic, determined and happy, no of which my current job embodies. It is most important I am NOT at work answering call bells, dealing with bodily functions, cleaning up after the lazy day staff, trying to deciper my manager's cryptic emails, doing the supervision of a non-straightforward-I don't-have-any-problems-I love-my-job subordinate. Dodging being hit by an aggressive patient with behavioural issues that no-one will admit to.

I LOVE this! :rotfl::rotfl:
So DDDers I have big news! I was just going to post it on my diary, but I'm too excited not to share it with you lot! So I had been expecting some money from my Great Uncle for Christmas. Last year he gave us £250. However I got home to a cheque for £2500. I nearly fell over!!:j How amazing is that?!
So DH and I have been chatting this evening and firstly want to pay off one of the CCs which has the 0% ending the soonest- £1580 on that.
We have already put away £600 from other relatives Christmas money for Feb's car insurance renewals, but I think they'll be around £800, so we want to add another £200 to that pot.
We have agreed to then have £250 each to spend as we please- him on clothes, I want to buy something for my 2nd job to the tune of £175 and get my phone screen fixed as I've now gone to sim only so need it to be more useable! I've had quotes of £65 for this and the rest I think on a wardrobe staple or two- jeggings perhaps.
That leaves £220. I wonder about this? At the moment we have no savings, emergency or otherwise, so perhaps put it in a savings pot? We've always just thrown any money at debts.
Is £250 each too much? More at the debts? Thoughts welcome fellow MSErs

Wow fyggy, congratulations! What a lovely Great Uncle you have
I think you do deserve a treat with the money but I think only you can decide how much us for treats and how much for debt. Perhaps if you think £250 each is too much for treats, you could make a treat pot of money and then use it over the next few months/year, to spread it out?LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

fuggy that's an amazing windfall. But personally I would chuck most of it at debt (it's nearly 10% of your debt paid off) and keep some for emergencies or car insurance etc. £250 each to spend on new clothes etc is a lot. Do you really need it? Maybe keep some rather for when the washing mashine breaks or similar? I'm sure you'll do what feels right and now and then you need a treat on the long road to debt freedom.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Hi everyone
Congrats to all of you who are making payments and reducing your debts or thinking of putting extra money towards your debts, especially you fyggy :T
Calling hope your antibiotics will start to work soon!
I achieved another SFDay today bringing my SFD total to 13! I will definitely improve on that next month :j
I have been thinking of this envelope system.. Last month, I found myself dipping into any envelope I could lay my paws on when I needed cash! So I think I will stick to my tried and tested system of withdrawing £260 to last me the month and aim to survive on £65 per week until pay day in 4 weeks time. This £65 Will Have to cover all food, fuel, leisure and miscellaneous expenses which I think is do-able! Maybe only for these 4 weeks at least
As for NY I will be at work and more than likely dealing with one or two a little worse for wear from their NY celebrations!
Hope you all have a lovely New Years Eve whatever you're doing..
See you all at the Janus Illusion! :j

Wow Fyggy thats ace! I too would chuck most of it at debt and have £100 each for new clothes, it's doable. I kitted the kids out for £50 thanks to Tesco. I would certainly slam a load into an emergency fund account.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0

Congrats to fyggy.
I have had SFD 14 today - and I found a cheque for the grand sum of £1.09 which I duly paid in to the bank.
Still suffering with my cold so had no inclination to do much or spend anything.
Looking forward to the Janus challenge, and setting my budgets.
Have a good NYE all!0
