Morning Everybody...
Why can't my mother understand that having After Eights for breakfast is perfectly acceptable at Christmas time??
I am one to steer well clear of the sales. Next especially is horrific sorry to those who love it - I know there clothes are pretty lovely as I have a few items from in there but nothing is more annoying than finding something that fits my 5'8" frame with size 7.5 feet and an ar*e that's 10 inches wider than my waist.... in a sale rummage.
When I shop it has to be a carefully planned affair with plenty of food/drink breaks and without ensuing bedlam of grabbers who I might inadvertently [STRIKE]on purpose[/STRIKE] elbow in the face...
And breeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeathe......
SO today it's freezing as no-one has done the fire yet. We are off to brave the supermarket and get some VEGETABLES cause they might have gone off if we got them last week...:rotfl:... I am kidding I am not sure what is happening today I just follow Mummy...
Although my friend MountainMum who pokes her head up here once in a while is about to have baby number 4 any day now..(4th boy by the way) and I need to see her cause I am sure he is going to land on Christmas day!!!
Then home to sit in front of the fire....:T“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Morning all! haven't posted really this month as it's been so crazy I've barely been able to log on!. Seriously got to get money sorted in January. I've done so well this month as presents were pretty much done by the end of November. I'm on now to sort out the spreadsheets and look at what we have for January as OH got paid a week early so we have ages til the next pay day. Luckily we have had money from some of the family this year!.
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!
NSK, i stay away from next too! i figure " if I didn't want it when it was full price, why do I want it at half price? " lol. I will however go to the wilkinsons sale and pick up some Christmas decorations, christmas cards and paper for next year. Might have a peek at the toys too and get some small presents for when DD has birthday parties to attend! xx
Goals: Save £500 for emergencies, Save £200 of Amazon vouchers for Xmas, fix my holey clothes!

Good afternoon all
I have been to the bank and paid in my change (£29.18); found a further 7p on walk around town and home. NSD today which is a boon. Need to wrap gifts and so forth as it seems impossible that it is *the big day* on Wednesday ...
I am hoping to get some bits in either M&S or Debs as there are some key pieces (work trousers spring to mind!) that I need to replace what has fallen apart over the past few months.0 -
NSD number 10 today.
Still got to deliver the local Xmas cards but it's freezing and raining here in Derbyshire, so I'm not going out in it.
Christmas day is the 25th after all, so as long as I post them before that, I'm happy.
Hope everyone is keeping warm.
I'm going to light the log burner now and see if I can find anything Christmassy to watch on telly and have a nice cuppa.

Sounds like you are my ideal shopping partner NSK! I need to have breaks planned in cos I find it so stressful. When we went Christmas shopping I got really het up as it was so crowded and it was still only November!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0

Hello!
Sorry I haven't been around for a few days.
Friday wasn't a SFD. Went out for lunch with husband and he paidbut booked M in for 2 sessions of the Activity club costing £10 total.
Saturday was a SFD :j No 12.
Sunday I had a lovely sociable day. Late morning drinks and nibbles at friends and then off to meet other friends for lunch and drinks. Stayed within my budget so very happy with that.
Today, not spend anything yet... however may venture to shops later. Don't need much and can probably get it from the Tesco express but Morrison might have some good reductions if I go this evening... Will see how I feel later as the weather is miserable here. I have to fetch M from the activity club and then go to Drs so may not fancy venturing out again after tea.
Tomorrow, we are going to the cemetary and crematorium with christmas wreaths and then having a relaxing tea/evening waiting for the man in red! I have a very excited little boy!
In case I don't get on again, hope you all have a lovely time xx'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0 -

I am the same, I hate clothes shopping, especially as I am short and round and nothing looks good atm. I understand why many people dislike the Next sale as it is really crowded in the store but I like it because...
* I am a morning person
* There are no traffic queues
* Everything is at least half price and I probably wouldn't spend the full amount on an item
* Their clothes wash well
* I can get all my shopping done and get home before anyone else gets up
You are right Kittyboo the weather in Derbyshire is horrible. I've just accepted an invitation to go for cheese and biscuits and a film around at a friend's house tonight and wish I hadn't with this weather.
Got my final Christmas gift todayAlso took part in the Quidco/Jack Wills £10 cashback offer so I'm looking forward to that being paid in the New Year

Hey Kat, love the idea of after eights for breakfast! For me, it's ice cream - morning, noon and night, spring, summer, autumn or winter!! My dad used to go out to the ice cream van for 'Mr Whippy', with a BOWL so he could keep it in the freezer and eat it over several meals! Never used to share it, though!
Am thinking that next time I make peppermint creams, I'll drizzle dark choc over them. Yummy!
Did my last Ald1 shop this morning, leaving the house all asleep. I got there and back before they awoke. I was the odd-one-out in there, doing only a small top-up shop, instead of a trolley of Christmas fare! And I missed the rotten weather too. Bonus!
I reckon I'll make the NSD total this month - only need 2 more! Our social calendar is decidedly empty this week - phew! Dd'll need a couple of playdates, and a few trips to the park, but they're all freebies.
But I've spent over my limits. I know exactly what the £87 went on (laundry detergent, school milk and online g-f breadsticks mainly - grrr). Am under budget on travel, only because dh filled up with fuel.
2 sleeps to :xmastree: and 5 to payday_party_. Yay!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hi All,
Still only on 7 SFD's as yesterday was the main Christmas shop and today was flowers for the graves. Not sure if tomorrow will be SFD but I will try. I think 15 SFD's is out of the window but I'm not too worried as this was my first time on this challenge and as it's been during a very spendy period even the 7 days I have achieved are a result :j
Grocery wise I think I should be under my £200 budget including all Christmas food and treats. Even better is the fact that I've been looking at a menu plan to take me to next payday 28th Jan and all I need to buy throughout the month is milk, bread (if we don't make our own), vegetables and toilet rolls. Although I may have to swap over to tea close to the end of the month if the coffee runs out
Oh the dogs will probably want some food too but I do still have some of their food in the freezer and I'm sure there will be some leftover turkey that they will loveThey usually have meat, brown rice and veg that I cook for them. the meat is from a farm shop that minces down all the offcuts and sells as pet food. Yes I spoil my dogs but they pay me back with lots of love and although cooking for them is a bit more work it actually works out cheaper than commercial dog food which I usually have to throw away as they won't eat it :rotfl:
Just started my Christmas celebrations off with afternoon tea at a local Country House Hotel. The total cost for myself and OH was £0. This was a Christmas present from last year that would have expired on 31/12 so decided rather than trying to arrange a tasting experience in London, which would have incurred travel costs, we would use it to celebrate the start of Christmas. So much food, sandwiches, and too many cakes so no dinner tonight. Even OH enjoyed it and sat at a table for over an hour and a half. Great afternoon and very MSE :money:
Have a great evening everyone

Managed not to kill anyone on my way to Asda to protect my aged Mumsy from the epic "shop now cause we will starve by Friday" crowds... Took us 20 minutes to get out of the blinking car park... but have no fear. Mumsy was duly entertained by my singing of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas"...........
I also bought my Gran a card in ASDA and over here you have to pay for your bags.. I put in £2.06 exactly in coinage and got £2.20 out ... Yes I ashamed to say I took it and ran. Christmas gift me thinks...
Now in front of the Titanic movie and trying not to cry... I have been to the museum in Belfast... epic I say just epic and so so sad...
Apple Muncher your Dad with the bowl is SO funny. I am going to tell my Pa... I do like ice cream though the vegan stuff is so expensive I daren't eat it that often....but now I feel like eating more After Eights...
MrsGSR I think I have become anti-shopping since my debt free date. Nothing seems worth it now and I keep saying to myself - "yes of course these skin tight jeans (since I have put on weight) are FINE even if I can barely move in them and risk ripping my bum cheeks out if I bend over, I certainly don't need NEW ONES"... #groan...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
