    Debt-free and Proud!
I do love cheese and for me it's one thing I love about Christmas however the rest of the year I don't really eat that much of it because it can tend irritate my sinuses. I've had points in my life where I have had to go dairy free due to excess and I have never been able to find a non dairy milk thats really nice so I just consume less of it.
Never had issues with my skin but have found that taking the pill has made it oilier (still if I didn't take it I would have much worse problems to contend with so it's a small price to pay)

Thanks everyone! It feels good but I am now in the danger zone- ie debt to be paid off very soon so go and book a holiday :o I have done this a few times when I get below £1k :( so determined this time to not crack! Hoping to go to India in Oct so will book once debt free (although may have to book flight first). But that is ok and will still be debt free by time I'm back which is important :T

I love cheese :happyhear wasn't really fussed until I discovered the Mexican hot one but now I am obsessed! I don't think I could give up dairy as I love my cheese, Greek yoghurt and milk :) wish aldi would start to do Mexican hot cheese as I will have to go to Mr m's just for cheese fix each week!

  • Good morning!

Finally had a lie in! :D Yesterday found 12p, but did spend £28 on a (reduced price) jacket - have been waiting for sometime for it to go on sale - and i didn't use my CC for it (a small victory).

As an asthmatic I try to avoid dairy as far as possible becuase it just gives me lots of cattargh.

Fmess I dug out a sports water-bottle with a filter in it to help me remember to drink all the water. The "eat lean, eat green" in the evenings i'm finding quite easy at the moment. There was a good (lunchtime!) recipe in the waitr0se magazine for root vegetable rostis with poached eggs. yummy! going to try it out tomorrow. half a sweet potato, half a parsnip, half a swede (though will replace with butter nut squash as i don't like the taste of swede) all grated up and blanched - squish together and bake in a little oil in the oven for 20 mins; poach an egg and serve :D 11g of fibre! yowzers! (maybe NSK and the other dairy-freers would like this too???)

It's pay day tomorrow and am quite excited to move my bulk monster-feeding payments :) (£500!!!) not that I should wish my time away (any more than I already do wishing for the next set of holidays all the time ...) but I will be delighted when I've got that £3K (gulp) paid off.

Got three of my models half painted yesterday but they're good enough to play with in the shop (they have three colours on them and are fully undercoated!). Am hoping to kick-butt against the poor sod whose been drawn against me. (muhahahahahaa)

Wishing you all a restful and productive Sunday. Hugs to all who want them

Just a quick post to say yesterday was a SFD so I think that makes 7/15 still don't think I will reach target but will see how close I can get.

Got myself a diary (free from work) so that I can log all the SFD's in as I go. I'm counting December (my first month on this challenge) as a training exercise :D January WILL be better.

Today is the main Christmas grocery shop and then delivering presents including 3 home made hampers that I'm really proud of. One is Italian themed to go with an Italian cookbook that he wanted. Thought this would make a nice gift and ensure we get an invite to dinner - free meal very MSE :money:

    Have a great Sunday all

Asd4 has a Mexican hot Christmas gift set in their Christmas range. It looks lovely, two cheeses and a relish/chutney :)

That sounds lovely!! Thank you for sharing the recipe, I'll give it a go.
I bought extra veggies when I did the Christmas shop to try and get me started properly on the 27th. At the moment I'm just doing damage limitation and eating less and healthier when possible. Today and tomorrow shouldn't be too bad but Tuesday I'm eating out and Wednesday will be a food fest!

Have a good day everyone. I've got the day to myself at home, so I'm planning on having a snooze, doing the housework and walking the dogs before going to the in laws for dinner.

  • Hi Guys and Dolls,

Been a little absent the last few days, I have been reading but not posting. Had a tough few days as memories returned from my pre-Christmas time last year (I went through a pretty bad experience), so needed time to work through them and I am now back in the MSE world and ready to breathe a sigh of relief as the one year marker has passed, time to look forward and enjoy the next week (finally on holiday!!) I also got paid early which was not expected, my budgets were starting to burst at the seams so that has taken the pressure off and I can now plan for Jan's budget, however need to make the money stretch until the end of Jan!

I am up to 11 SFDs :j - Spend day Thursday- I pay for my CT in cash over the counter, SFD Friday and a Spendy day yesterday- mostly on meds- boo!! Going to a friends for dinner this eve so hopefully it'll be another SFD in the bag but shall not claim it until the day is out! Struggling with my enthusiasm again to get the very last of my presents and cards finished (they're hand-made), so today I am determined will be my present and card completion day! Also need to dye my hair ready for Christmas eve meet-up with old school friend's. :)

May be I should wear my Christmas socks with bells on to try and re-awaken my Christmas Spirit today!!

It's lovely reading all of your posts and anecdotes each day- feels like we're all a big family!

Morning all, hope you're having a relaxing Sunday! Hoping today will be an NSD.

clippy- I'm with you on the cheese, milk I could go without but never cheese!

I've set myself a new challenge to add to the 5 aims list, I'm aiming to make an extra £450 in payments (on top of the usual) onto credit cards by April, and to match that with saving £450 for a trip I'd like to take. £450 on a trip when you're still in debt isn't very MSE, but I reckon if I can save it separately and make extra payments to match it, it's probably not *that* bad.... The £900 has to be made from saving 'spending' money from my monthly budget, extra work, selling stuff etc. It's progress from my previous attitude of 'Lets just whack it on a credit card, you only live once!!'. Obviously, you do only live once, but I suspect it's more fun if you save for stuff rather than forever increasing your debt.... :o

  • Hey all...

Siouxsie... I did open it - it felt really heavy!!! But when I opened it was still quite empty and I counted up £140!!! That went towards my Annual Savings for 2014.

I've started a new one now so am going to really go at it this year!!!

    :)

  • Put those xmas socks on Loveadove! Hope you are feeling ok. It's easy to forget when you see all the craziness going on in the shops etc, that this is a tough time of year for a lot of people for a lot of reasons... Hugs to you, and good luck with the motivation to finish those pressies - you can do it, I am sure they are fab!

We are off for a scout round the shops soon to find some xmas lights - dreading it as I want to stay in on the sofa on my PJs all day and it's going to be hell out there. Work, tiredness, and family stuff all making me want to lock the door and stay in with DH and the warring kittykats over xmas and say bah humbug to it all!

But, onward and upward, sigh, better go and get dressed (reluctantly hauls self off sofa and prises cat off), wish me luck. Third time lucky - we surely must buy a set that work this time?!
