  • Hi All

Big thank you for the hugs and get well wishes. The best bit about getting it done with is being able to eat cheese again :j

Spent a good part of this afternoon plus the last half hour trying to sort my finances out. I have paid £400 off my credit card which should make a serious dent in it and have downloaded a free app called money monitor on the iPad which I have been inputting my income/outgoings into.

I have had a review of my various online pots and in my current account I now have the remainder of my budgets (from my sig) a total of £157.46 plus an allowance for other spends and a bit of contingency. This will include a lunch with friends on 22nd (if I am up to it) and a meal out on Boxing Day, plus a cinema trip (tesco vouchers for tickets) over the school hols and the remaining Christmas gift spends (almost done) :)The rest of the cash has been moved to pots including house/vets, hair/clothes, car, birthdays/Xmas mortgage/savings - you get the idea. There's not much in them yet but it's a start.

I have then been working out budgets for Jan and still need to sort out how much I can afford to put in my pots/pay off my credit card and what money is coming in when. I get some weekly (tax credits), some 4 weekly(child benefit), some monthly (salary) and some as and when (from husband, avon and eBay)! It makes it all rather complicated

Oh well, will have another play with the MSE budget brain thingy (which is great) to work out what I should allocate where and then cross my fingers that I have chance to build up my pots a little before some unexpected spend comes along to wipe them out!

    Have a great weekend x

  • Evening all. Up to 3 SFDs now! Wednesday and today were SFDs. Thursday was a spendy day as went to my book club and we all take food, so bought some nibbles to take with me. Had a lift there and back which was good.

Worked today and evening class tonight. Tomorrow will be a spendy day as need to buy some fresh bits so will go to L1dl for that, and I also need to post a Christmas card to Spain so not sure how much that will be. Hoping to get out for a run in the morning as been eating too much and not doing enough exercise - although I do walk to work every day (2 miles) which is better than nothing.

Will really get to post my totals and budgets tomorrow (which I have already said several times!).

    Have a good Saturday everyone!

Not a spend free day for me yesterday, but not outrageous either. I got a basket of yellow sticker goods in the supermarket whichwil help over the weekend.

We're going away on holiday next week, to a more expensive part of the country, so I need to decide how much stuff (food) to take with us. I like to support the local shops as they probably struggle a bit to survive but it's expensive so I also take some stuff with me
    Seriously money saving

Counted my change tin this morning - £14.58 (!). when i am off on 23rd I will bag it up and put it to the monster.

Going to pay another £160 to the CC today. Going to do HOK3Y proud and change search today accross the high street and then come home and repaint some models to keep myself out of trouble!

Hugs to all who need them - especially those who have relatives unwell ...
ETA - does debt payment count as a spend? if so i guess i spent today and will do other shopping too - if not ... hmmm

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning!
Today will be SFD 9 planning to make some Christmassy things with the children and make pizza for tonight's tea.
Tomorrow will be a spendy day though as out with DD, I'm not going out in the evening now so the £20 left of my personal spends can be used then. DH is going to do the Christmas food shop tomorrow also. Just have presents to wrap and truffles and chocolate treats to make and we are done. And it's 9 days to pay day!

  • hello all :hello:

so spendy day yest as did food shop and then work xmas meal. had already paid for food so it was a v cheap night :)

food budget is blown well and truely! its confusing doing it for the challenge as i get paid on 19th and thats when i withdraw my £100. i have spent it all and yesterday spent an additional £25:eek: but some of that- eg £8 on nuts will last nearly a month. dont think £100 is really enough for how i like to eat- eg meat every day and lots of fresh veg and fruit. also stopped buying yoghurt pots as they are full of added sugar. normally buy value ones which is about 80p for a weeks worth. yesterday bought two pots of mr m full fat greek yoghurt and a pack of frozen raspberries to add to it and that was £4.60  although raspberries will last two weeks. think will start with £110 and see how i go. although at xmas i will need to pay £30 for my massive pack of chicken breasts (approx 22 v large breasts) and 2.5kg of bacon. this lasts about 4 months. so budget is going to be £140 next month. will see how i get on as dont need toilet roll, coffee or tissues as have enough. really need to be more savvy and start to try and come under to have a reserve pot for stocking up on offers or months when i run out.

going to work on my budget for 19 dec to 18 jan today to see what the damage is. extra £200 on this months mortgage payment as week as well as its the first one  think i should get about £200 extra in wage so should be fine though. also need to redo yearly present budget and set revised budgets to get a new monthly figure (i calculate total present cost per year, add about £60 on for weddings, babies etc.. then divide by 12. have standing order each month for the amount to a present account).

cant change anything though as im in the middle of a 7 day switch which completes on 17th. good time to do it as nothing has come out of my account during this period so no need to worry about mistakes!

today i am having a spend free day :A going to be a day of house work and gym and cooking a pot of delicious curry for the freezer. trying to empty freezer as much as i can in preparation for (hopefully) getting v good yellow sticker deals on meat day after boxing day. need to check supermarket closing times and plot a route :rotfl:

Because said ladies who wear such shoes are likely to take them off soon after getting a little blathered and thus don't need to worry about "walking" ....
    ....

So in reflection a nice motherly pair of flat leather sling-backs from M&S IS possibly the best option these days........or plastic bags.....:T

Ha ha, you're probably right!! There were a few pairs of shoes lining the dancefloor last night :rotfl: I live in boots/converse/flip flops depending on the time of year, and only wear heels for special occasions.... Eventually I will give up and go with the sling-backs!

But, on the kitty front it's not been such a great day. Vets this am where they wanted to take bloods and she wouldn't let them - she bit two veterinary nurses! she's so tiny I can't believe it hurt... but they sedated her where she promptly had a fit and stopped breathing. They managed to resuscitate her and have kept her in for obs all day, but from the xray they think she has something on her lungs, but are reluctant to investigate further due to her reaction today. DH is picking her up now and getting the latest from the vet, but it looks like hardcore antibiotics and then wait and see... poor little thing. She was a rescue kitten and had such a rough start to life anyway and now this.

Poor kitty! :( So sorry to hear she had a bad reaction to the sedation, that's really rare and really bad luck. Hope the antibiotics work.

  • I am attempted the "skinny diet" that clippygirl referred to earlier in the thread. going to start slow - taking in more water, no carbs after lunchtime, skip white potatoes/bread.

:) can I make this one of my goals ?
  • Am having a little relax as dd is out at a big soft play place - she won an invite from Kidz klub and has been jumping aound in excitement since she got it! Dh has gone with. Gma is here for a few days but has popped out for a wander. I've dropped off dd and dh, dropped another bag to Sally Army (and gained £2 credit with them), scoured the other charity shops for specific things for dd, and bought a few bits in 1celand as had to park there and pay, but you get your money back if you buy £5 worth in store. Have also dropped off tub of cakes to a friend who having a really rough time.

I like the idea of having a health challenge in the January Jump Start, or whatever Kat names it. I'm off sugar 90% of the time and can't manage much when I do have it, unless it's 85% choc! Used to find that too bitter! And have lost 3lbs in 2 weeks without much effort. Prob should add that I'm mostly off grains too, but not tatties! So i'm not feeling deprived, so long as I have a stack of apples and pears and cashews in the house.

Enough wittering! Have been able to find a few bits for dh to make him a stocking-full, so feel more ready for Christmas now.

Am grateful for balm tissues, coffee, lempsip, family being here and blankets.

Have a great weekend. Hugs to all.
