  • Yikes you Hobits are suffering aren't you! PurpleJay am glad everything went well! Tiptoes I really hope puddy-tat gets well.... nothing worse than seeing a sick animal... I'd sit an cuddle her all day!.. Calling14 what a week you have had. I think a bit of a pig out is more than deserved! Biggest hugs to you all..

Times like these I wish I could do home visits for tea and hugs in Christmas jumpers....... and slippers....

Shyspender keep pushing through - everyone seems to be having a tough month and just get down on the spreadsheet what you can and we can tally things up after the day is done...

Abundant I would agree with KarmaChi.... having a chat about what you can and can't spend is vital. If you break up ( touch wood you don't ) then you will kick yourself that you are in a position that isn't healthy money wise just because of a that relationship... could you sit down with him over the weekend... you have to be strong here or your DFD will keep getting pushed away... You have to look after you!!!

    KarmaChi
    - well done on walking past the smellies.... lol!

Hullooo the Xmas Holiday Hobbitses! :santa2:

I have been well and truly missing in action over the last week.. but Im glad to say not in the NOvember thread LoveaDove! :rotfl:

I am sheepishly popping in to declare myself the last of the great big spenders with 7 Spend Days and 1 SFDay! I think I must have got temporarily confused thinking this was a spend challenge and not a no spend challenge :p The quiet confidence I boasted at the beginning of the challenge in achieving the SFD target is quietly diminishing as the days roll by.. but I refuse to get stressed about it!

I have not been particularly extravagant and all spends have been necessary. However had I planned things a little better by not forgetting to get items then having to go out the next day, or purchasing presents on a planned no spend day because its more convenient to get it now while its in front of me and therefore one less thing to think about, I would have minimised the damage..

Flicking back 12 pages in my Black Book (pre MSE discovery) I can see that 8 SFDs were achieved last December. So if I manage to beat that I will be happy :T

I'm aiming for 3 SFDs from tomorrow as I am working nights this weekend. Its getting to something where night shifts are welcomed because it means money saved! :D

I'm going to get some shut eye now ready for tonight..

C-R I hope OH will get good luck on the job front soon

Tiptoes Here's hoping the little puss will be better soon and todays visit to the Vets goes well..

Calling 14 Sorry to hear about your relatives illnesses, sending a hug and strength to you..

    Get well soon Purple Jay!

    Nighty night all

hey nsk... the only negative of working is that they haven't sorted out my "bank" pay yet so since october 1st, I have actually done free labour. I am hoping they might give me an early xmas pressie (get paid on december 24th normally).
    :o

That is the only reason why I am reluctant to work extra shifts. I find it a bit stupid to be honest. I am within the same company board, I have moved 17 miles away, I was already on the city bank and I had agreed to be sent out to my new ward for shifts prior to starting there... but they can't just transfer my details to the country bank, I have to apply all over again.

To be honest, I just don't want to tell you how horrific my funding has been. I am definitely over my £400 budget as I have emptied my account, I have put about £40 on my ccard (last few pressies) and because I didn't get paid enough this month, I owe my parents £200 which they have pad towards my credit card. It's just all gone wrong really. But will remain positive... after all, it all starts again in January with a nice clean slate. (I love a new year).
    :o

tiptoes Aw, what a shame about your poor kitty. I agree that spending money on pets is a necessity. Especially if they are unwell.
    Hugs.

Calling14 I hope everything starts looking up for you. It's never good when people take unwell, especially when you aren't sure if the doctors are acting in the person's best interest. Thinking of you. Hope you get your xmas shopping sorted.
    Hugs.

purple jay Glad to hear you are recovering well.
    Hugs to you tooooooooo.

Back to work again tonight... Oh!!! I am obviously there for the long haul (as in no sign of getting sacked any time soon) as I spoke to my boss about doing a course on palliative care and she has asked me if I want to be the palliative link nurse!! It sounds stupid but it was a massive boost of confidence.
    :D

In relation to this thread (i never do short posts and always go off on a tangent. sorry).
    Spend-free days: 6/15.

Plan for the weekend: work a bit more, sleep, have a xmassy day with OH (putting up the tree) and finish off wrapping.
The last thing I am going to do is get sorted out for January with regards to budgetting, etc.
    :)

Oh!!! I do have some good news which actually makes me not "tidying" in November (the charity thing), my cousin is in the process of possibly getting her first house so all the stuff I would have put away is now getting sent over to her.

Calling14 oh no, how awful, sending you well wishes for your family. I hope you are doing ok through all this. Is there someone there to support you?

PurpleJay glad you are home and feeling ok - very brave! Just hope you get a nice restful Xmas!

Well, reading other people's real woes has made me count my blessings and drag myself out of the dumps a bit.

But, on the kitty front it's not been such a great day. Vets this am where they wanted to take bloods and she wouldn't let them - she bit two veterinary nurses! she's so tiny I can't believe it hurt... but they sedated her where she promptly had a fit and stopped breathing. They managed to resuscitate her and have kept her in for obs all day, but from the xray they think she has something on her lungs, but are reluctant to investigate further due to her reaction today. DH is picking her up now and getting the latest from the vet, but it looks like hardcore antibiotics and then wait and see... poor little thing. She was a rescue kitten and had such a rough start to life anyway and now this.

Thanks for contact lens / glasses advice cottage, I did used to get mine on line a while ago, but stopped when they got a bit pricer. I have a really high and unusual prescription, I will look again tho, and check scheme at work too. I am holding off on new glasses for now even though they are so old and manky as I only use them to get from the bathroom to bed and vice versa as they are like bottle bottoms! If you are on commission you are doing a good job!

Anyway, in summary, not a SFD as vets will want a tidy sum I imagine, but all worth it if she does get better or at least feels a bit better soon...

Oh, and I am so down with going out in slippers! forget stupid high heels - can't believe I used to wear them!

:rudolf: Today = SFD number 9 :rudolf:

If I can make it through to 19th Dec that will my 15 SFD target hit and I get paid early on 20th... It does mean just over a 5 week month in January though... Will see how my cupboards fare by the end of the week, and see if I can be creative through the rest of December...

    Evening all

Sorry to hear about your relatives Calling14. I hope you are ok.

Today was a spend day but have made the most of it. Did a weekly food shop (£36.95) and used a £15 off £60 Sainsbobs voucher to get a couple of months of cat food and some Christmas dinner items for £49.15, with delivery. This means I am over on my animal food budget this month, but therefore I can have a smaller animal food budget for the next few months :)

After the extra work tutoring this week, I decided to spend £10 on a takeaway for OH and I tonight :) This means my budgets are even more overspent but given that its December, I'm not too disappointed. Also, I have been earning extra money so my debts are still going down :)

I'm starting to realise that I struggle to go very hardcore with the debt busting. I don't think I have the determination that you have NSK. I don't live an extravagant lifestyle; a couple of takeaways a month, maybe a lunch with a friend in town and perhaps a night out every other month. Its the other spends that have been my downfall and created my debt; overspending on food (and wasting some of it :( ), loaning OH money, treating OH and myself to the things we wanted (never needed) when we wanted them.

In the New Year, I'm planning on making a monthly contribution to a savings account for annual expenses, paying at least my monthly loan payment if not an overpayment and overpaying my ccard every month until its gone :) Whatever is left, I will use to lead a cut back version of my lifestyle :)

Sorry, think this has been my longest post ever and its been rather waffly.

Night all, hope every one has a relaxing weekend planned :)
