  • Kat, could you not look on gumtree, ebay, even freegle? Or do Appple do reconditioned kit? Tho this may not suit you for your 5 year expedition as they may not have enough warranty.

Just found a refurbed one on eBay for £120 including postage record and signed for. Considering the new nano 7th generation is £115 and 16GB I think I did ok with this Classic @ 80GB... so it has not been an SFD but one must get one goodies before leaving for home on Tuesday or one might cry over Christmas with nowt to open....:o

Wow... I never realised that there were so many people working in the care industry here.
My worries when I first came on here was that people would be judgemental because I am not on minimum wage and yet couldn't manage my finances. But, I have learned (by reading diaries and stuff on here) that there are people a lot "more priveleged" than me who also struggle. (can't think of the right word. i don't mean richer, just get paid more and in the same situation with no kids, etc).
    :undecided

Anyways... enough of shoving my foot in my mouth. Got muddled up with my shifts today and thought I was working nightshift tonight. So, I slept in, had a lazy day, etc, my usual nightshift routine... only to get a phone call about an hour ago asking if I will come in to work as we are short-staffed.
    :rotfl:

    Plus side: Extra money.
Negatives: I still haven't gotten that sorted out yet and now I will have worked seven days in a row (if you include the training session on wednesday).
    :o

My budgets have gone completely out the window... even the money I gave my dad is now gone. Roof ended up costing £73.
    :(

However, I have bought all my xmas pressies!! Wrapped half of them!! Completed some cards!! So I am achieving something.
    :p

Give you a laugh... wrapping pressies last night and I have bought OH's dad a whisky glass and a bottle of beer (got them at leuchars air show and he is a airplane nut so know he will like them). Now my wrapping is normally limited to square and rectangles only, but these are both round.
I needed to protect them from being damaged so I looked around the house for a mse way of doing this... So I have now wrapped his stuff in toilet roll and then to secure it all in place, I have wrapped that in a bandage (28p from tescimos).
I get embarrassed just imagining his dad's reaction when he opens up the paper to find a bandage.
    :o

I am not going to write my budgets on here because it will just disgust you all but I am going to keep going with my spend-free days. Must remain positive... and start properly in January as I will have OH's contribution too.
We will be debt free by next december!!
    ;)

Yay! Am well impressed with my SFD roll... Work has been craaaaazy!!! We're in the middle of moving departments and still trying to carry on providing a service. Madness!!! I cannot wait for weekend to arrive!!! I'm knackered!

This week's gym sessions not looking so good - sitting at 0/3 sessions done!!! Bad Abundant!!! Number of bags of Kettle Crisps eaten 2/4... so a slightly better score there ha ha ha!!!

  • Good evening!

Today was the work bring and share Chrimbo lunch. brought bread and butter from home (all got eaten - not the butter :P) and this was all nommed. we had enough leftovers for tomorrow lunchtime too.

frustratingly my painting water got spilt on the carpet so had to get the vax out to get it out before it dyed the carpet orange ... (i paint warhammer figures! expensive hobby! but have got some things picked out for when i slay "the monster" which is helping keep me focused). I planned January's budget today - with some effort i have gotten it to £500 to the monster - with any luck i'll get some chrimbo money to make the month more bearable! We get paid on 24th but am hoping not to touch it til the 28th (later if possible).

    a proud NSD.

In other news - clippygirl - which Bob Harper book was it? He's the one from The Biggest Loser isn't he?

    Hey DDD-ers...

Nearly the weekend.. and well am I eating my words about 15 SFDs being easy. 6 months supply of contact lenses needed today as well as annual contact lens check - boy is that expensive! How come I never noticed that before? Also weekly shop and money for nephew and niece's Christmas presents... The thing with being the only childless Aunty and Uncle is I feel that all the family expect extravagant presents for the kids from us. They know we are on decent wages and have no small ones to pay for, which is all true, but they don't know about DH's debt, so now we are going to just look mean. I am feeling very beleaguered by all these spends. Kitten has started coughing up blood tonight so its back to the vets tomorrow for the 3rd time this week - I don't resent the cost for her I am just very worried about her. Work manic in the run up to xmas and the threat of an ofsted inspection, so no stress there!!
DH come home tonight achey and ill - it's his fortnightly injection day (for crohns) which always seems to set him back a day or two. I am feeling very much like a large bucket of sand to bury my head in, or a large bucket of wine, whichever really! I guess sand is cheaper!!

moan moan moan - sorry! I will perk up soon. I have to!

  • Hmmmm I'm convincing myself this was a SFD but think I need to put it out there.......

Bought a Hudl tablet (not quite the Mac I wanted :p) from Tesco using my vouchers plus colleague paid the difference as I gave him some toiletries from my 'present' box for his wife for Xmas. So no money was exchanged?! I think I did quite well actually. :D

thanks Clippygirl, I will look into that. At the moment I get mine from a local optician who are contact lens specialists as chain opticians before (vision express) have told me I can't have soft lenses because of my prescription but I hate gas permeables! I did do a scout round a few years ago and compared schemes and on line sellers etc, but I need to re-do this as I don't think I am getting the cheapest deal anymore. The problem is I have a high plus prescription so am out of the range of a lot of the monthly deals.. I will take a look at specsavers tho - and you get free glasses with it? wow! thanks! :)

    Plymouthscubagirl I think that's a SFD!
