Hmmm lapland, I can imagine it would be an amazing experience but couldn't justify that amount of money.

Oh no cottage retreatist, did he say he was going to do that?

Another NSD to report for yesterday, which takes me up to *drum roll* 3! Can't believe I've managed that already as I only managed 6 last month. Shows that a bit of pressure can help. :)

Off to a comedy show tomorrow night, but tickets are a gift so just the train fare- and I've scaled back so no dinner out etc. Baby steps!

*cottage_retreatist* - sorry to hear about your hubby, good luck!

Re: Lapland- I wouldn't do it for a day, sounds amazing for the kids but is a LOT of money, plus I imagine they'd be pretty tired at the end! I'm a bit of a youth hostel person though. I guess maybe if I had tons of spare cash....

Hmmmm Lapland - not at that price!!

Spendy day yesterday but only on Xmas presents, not doing too badly so far - lets hope it can continue. This time of year I always end up getting stressed about the costs of everything but then it always pans out in the new year. It doesn't help that we have 2 children with birthdays within 4 weeks of Xmas...

Tomorrow should be though, kids at breakfast with Santa (already paid for) food shopping done, no reason to go near any other shops. Need to increase these SFDs!!!

Cottage-retreatist: you can hog this board as much as you want!! We are here for you, to offer you hugs and give your oh a silent ear-bashing on your behalf. What a pesky so-and-so!! As others have said, I hope he gets more work v soon.

And Stewby please keep posting too. Don't isolate yourself or give up yet!

Mrs GSR, hope your dd gets better soon.

Did my course in town and got home quite quickly, which was a nice end to it all. Didn't spend anything (travel can be reclaimed) and the venue was pretty good as regards providing gluten-free food, even having g-f biscuits for the afternoon break. Might not sound worth mentioning, but there's a limit to how much 'yummy apple' I can consume and it's nice to have something else provided. Tho' I'll not eat them as have committed to keeping off sugar. D'oh! Have brought them home and dd can eat them.

Today I'm grateful for trains that run, a glorious sunrise, tech, expresso coffee and fresh air.:) Happy Friday!

    Hi everyone.

I'm absolutely knackered today! I hope things look up for you Stewby and CR :) Mrs GSR I hope your little one gets better soon! I've had to go with virgin instead of sky as even though sky is £5 cheaper, I get so much interference around it, it would be false economy to go back to them :(. So I will get a £49 instalation charge added to my bill!

Well, this whole week bar one day has been a week. But the weekend should be quiet! Next friday is my daughter's 17th and she wants the two of us to go out for dinner. My 5 year olds school is also having a christmas disco next friday and his teacher said it will be great, all the parents have a sing along and the atmosphere is great ! This really sounds like my idea of hell. Am I the only parent that aviods the playground clique like the plague, let alone paying to be around them! Thing is, I know my son would love it! My get out clause is it's my daughters birthday, lol! I'm really going to batten down the hatches now, as this month is just proving very expensive :(! I would have been just about ok if the sky dish didn't go out on us! However, I will not moan  but smile in the face of adversity  since that seems to be my middle name at the moment :D

Well have a good evening everyone and keep going :T

Traveller, sounds like my idea of hell too. Our PTA are a bit of clique and I'm just not into that sort of thing at all.

  • Hello everyone,

Thinking of you cottage retreatist and fingers crossed your OH finds something soon.

I've managed 5 SFD's so far mainly because I've done nothing exciting - gone to work, come home, ate tea, gone to bed. The next few days are going to be very spendy and i'm hoping to get as much of the spending done tomorrow inbetween other commitments to minimise the spendy days

    SFD 5/15
    Lunch to work 5/13
    Food £34.41/£120 (including foodbank donation)
Foodbank £2.49/£5 (purchased but not yet donated)
