Single yellows have a sign stating the times parking restrictions are in force, worth checking.

For boarding & alighting I would guess that 9 minutes is a little too long but as said above, get to pepipoo with a scan of the ticket (both sides) as it may not be compliant.

I have seen those parents who get the premium spots they are there at least an hour before school finishes, must be great having nothing better to do.

A four year old child would be regarded as a vulnerable passenger so providing that you did not cause an obstruction and you left you vehicle on the yellow line for only the amount of time to escort or collect the child into/from the school building, then you should appeal.

However, I am basing this advice on the assumption that the yellow line has just the normal restrictions (i.e. no waiting) and that you were the only person in the car other than the child.

One has to question the wisdom of anyone taking legal GUIDANCE from someone who is not even able to spell the word guidance...

Do you know that I really appreciate you pointing this out and have duly rectified the mistake.

I actually prefer to park a bit further away from school and walk the rest of the way. I find it much quicker than parking right outside the school as it is horrendous to get out.

They ended up having to start police patrols outside one of the schools near me as a child was knocked down due to people like the OP who park on yellow lines, block the pavement or park on the zig zags because little Johnny can't possible walk more than 5 steps to the school gates.

I would hope the parking ticket will stand and that you don't get out of it and it may make you think about parking more considerately in the future.

And 4 year old children are a lot tougher than you think. Even if it's a bit cold a coat, hat and gloves are enough. My 4 year old goes to a school where they have to wear shorts all year round and he's still managing to survive and hasn't complained once that he's cold!

Now all they need to do, is to issue bigger fines for bigger vehicles.

Seriously though, I drive past a local school at turfing out time on a Friday, despite the crossing patrol, the number of kids that jump out from behind illegally parked vehicles is just insane..... And the worst thing is, most of these cars are 4x4's, so completely render said children invisible until it's too late.

Someone buy that warden a pint, parents are the most inconsiderate parkers I come across.
  • Parents in these predicaments can't possibly stay in their illegally-parked cars. They need to have a wee gossip in the playground ...... it's part of modern life.
