Feedback on nationwide internet banking
Comments
-
So, thinking of moving to nationwide from smile. Most if not all my interaction will take place online so would welcome any feedback in nationwides internet banking system,
How do you find it to do normal transactions? Does it have secure messaging? Do faster payments work 24/7?
Cheers
The main pain with Nationwide, as others have said, is having to use the card reader to make a repeat payment to an existing saved account. Another pain is that the default logon method is to use the card reader and you have to click a button over on the right to opt for the 3-out-of-6 digits and memorable word. The only pain I can think of with Smile is when you are finished with a screen you have to click the little "home" to go back to the first screen.
So not much to choose really in terms of functionality.0 -

I have not had to use my card reader to make a payment to an existing payee for sometime now.
Also, as stated by rb10 earlier, on occasion the card reader is not needed to set up a new payee.0 -

I agree the requirements for when you do and do not need to use the card reader are inconsistent. So not much to choose really in terms of functionality.
There's a lot more functionality in Nationwide's online banking, even something as simple as amending a payees details you can't do with the Coop/Smile. Not to mention the graphing of accounts, filtering of transactions, downloading of statements, text alerts. They're hardly close in terms of functionality.
As much I liked the Coop and their customer service, ultimately their poor online banking drove me away. When you use another banks you really do see how poor it is.0 -
Yes you can. It's setting up new payments that will usually require a card reader.
Well, I've just tried to make a payment of £350 this morning to my fianc!, who is already set up as an existing payee, and it required me to use the card reader.
Don't know if it insists on the card reader if you log in with memorable information rather than log in with the card reader?
One thing I will say, I also bank with Halifax and find their method a lot simpler. you set up the payment and it sends a code by text to your phone and you simply type that in.
Much more convenient and useful than these silly card readers0 -
Yes I agree the use of the card reader is requested sometimes when paying to existing payees. I find this happens when I am moving the £1k back and forth. Must try logging in with the card reader next week when the monthly interest will have already been paid and see if I still need the card reader for new payees etc."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

Is it just me or is there no way to view payment references using the online bank? I've tried to get this question answered using the Secure Message function but they're so slow to answer it's near useless.0

You see them in the 'full statement' which has a timelag.0

Do you know how long the time lag is? I've got transactions going back 2 + weeks without references which had them. e.g.
13 Nov 2013 Bank credit PayeeName Bank credit PayeeName
With my previous bank I would see the payee name straight away when the payment arrived in my account but it would usually be the next day/next bank run that would then display the reference.0 -

Last week I logged in using a card reader.
Then created a new payee and transferred £1, required a card reader to authorise the payment.
Then, once I verified the payment arrived at its destination I made a further payment of £999. Required another authorisation via card reader.
So 1 session and used the card reader 3 times.0 -

My experience is a next day timelag
What you get can depend on what the payer has put in the reference field - some can be very uninformative.0
